Some chit chat.

I said last week that I don’t know where my heads is at. Still don’t! LOL I didn’t watch television last weekend and completely missed something important. Luckily I got a hurricane warning alert on my phone Sunday night. Ran out and got what I might need. Went to work Monday and then ran home to store all the outside furniture and bring in loose items. This is the first storm this year and I wasn’t looking forward to it. Figures it was coming in Tuesday night. I hate it when they come in after dark. Luckily, it blew through fast and wasn’t that bad. Mostly torrential rain for a couple of days.

This lucky guy made it through okay.

20180903_163352

Do you see it? The big banana spider hanging in the middle of the picture. He’s bright orange and green though you can’t see that in the picture. Huge too. As big as my hand! They have super strong silk and the storm huffed and puffed but he hung in there.

I was surprised when we didn’t lose power. Good thing too as I watched some shows and had the volume up high to “drown” out the noises from outside. LOL When I checked in the morning there was no damage. Just a very water logged yard and some branches on the ground. Hopefully, we won’t get any more before hurricane season ends in November.

I’ve been scrambling to visit posts I’ve missed because I unplugged during the storm. If I missed you, sorry, and I’ll catch up!

Have a fabulousĀ  Sunday and brand new week!

  1. Lulu says:

I think that spider would scare me more than the storm šŸ˜° Also, hurricane season is the one sucky thing about the start of fall, I hope you don’t get many bad storms this season and stay safe! Also, Sunday I end up with at least two new books thanks to you!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The trick is to either leave them be so you know where their web is and don’t run into it, or move them with a branch to a far away tree. LOL There are 4 or 5 storms heading into the Atlantic from the African coast. Just hope they don’t come into the Gulf. Enjoy the freebies:)

  2. Greg says:

Glad the storm wasn’t too bad for you. Eww that spider is… too big for me. I hate those. I know he’s probably not bothering anybody lol but still… šŸ™‚

Ooh some creepy covers this week! I like the look of Copycat and Cryptid Zoo!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The tropical storm last year was worse than this one. I don’t like spiders at all. Can’t help but appreciate the beauty of this one though. As long as he doesn’t crawl on me. LOL I won Copycat. Weird thing. Several chapters in there are some chapters from some other book. Ruined it for me. It doesn’t say it is an ARC. Hate to think if it’s like that in the finished book.

  3. Consumed was very good with unexpected twists, so I hope you grab that at release too. Glad the weather wasn’t too bad. We’ve had rain again all week.I hate the dark, overcast. Hope this weeks brings sunshine and some tv.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I have Consumed saved in my cart. I had a feeling after reading these short ones, I’d get hooked so it’s ready to order. LOLI always feel sluggish when the weather is overcast. Today the sun is shining and I’m smiling!

  4. Holy lord, he’s as big as your hand? Oh man. I am glad I live in a more temperate climate. I’m glad you guys didn’t lose power. I can’t believe you live somewhere where hurricanes are just a regular seasonal occurence. Scary!

    • fuonlyknew says:

With his leg, yes, he is huge! LOL Wish his colors would have shone up more. They are so bright and lovely. I love the small coastal town I live in but could do without the storms:)

  5. Ugh! I don’t enjoy storms, either – especially after dark. But our storms are probably just like mild winds next to what you get…
Your new books look great, Laura! Especially the JR Ward ones šŸ˜‰
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

We/ve had some brutal hurricanes blow through. I leave town for those and pray the house is still there when we are allowed to reurn. This one wasn’t bad at all. We got lucky! I came across Ward’s books on Kim’s blog. Been wanting to try the author and seemed like the right time to start:)

  6. Anastasia says:

Haha I like nature. Spider was like what hurricane…havr seen no hurricane XD

Yay for all the new books šŸ˜Š Enjoy your weekend!

  7. I have still been trying to comment on your blog, but nothing. I have been hitting the “likes” though. Lets try again…

    • Oh yay! It finally worked! I’ll be back around later to hit up some of your older posts. I’m glad the storm wasn’t too bad and that spidey made it through. Have a wonderful week. šŸŒž

      • fuonlyknew says:

So glad it worked this time!! The storm wasn’t bad. Just lots of rain and small branches fell down. Got lucky. This is when the season gets active though. Hoping they stay out of the Gulf!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I had that happen on another blog. It suddenly started working again. No idea why!

  8. Uggh..I hate hurricane warnings! Glad you got everything set up! Have a great week!

    Hereā€™s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this weekā€™s Book Photo Sundays and Cover Spotlight!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It was such a surprise when the warning came through on my phone. I should be paying closer attention to the weather this time of year. Got caught unaware because I was binging shows on the telly. LOL

  9. I am glad you are safe after the storm. And holy crap, that spider looks so dangerous.. and so big! Good thing is power was still there šŸ™‚
I hope you enjoy your new books šŸ™‚

    My wrap-up: https://flippingthruthepages.com/2018/09/weekly-wrap-up-1/

    • fuonlyknew says:

The strom moved through fast and din’t cause me any damage. Thankful for that! I’m trying to think of a name for the spider. It did survive a hurricane. LOL

  10. Nicci Boyle says:

I’ll be checking out some of those witchy freebies… Definite Autumn reading. šŸ™‚
I’m glad the hurricane didn’t cause you too many problems!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I am reading some fall and winter books now. Trying to get things together for some seasonal posts. The storm wasn’t bad and just glad it blew through quickly:)

  11. kozbisa says:

That spider is terrifying! You are a very brave person. Glad to hear you made it thought the storm ok. I hope we have a quiet season. I have only read one series by Ward, The Bourbon Kings, but I really liked it. Hope you love all your new books.

    • fuonlyknew says:

The spider is creepy, yet it has such beautiful colors. I won’t bother it if it doesn’t bother me. LOL Knocked the web down once but it came back. At least now I know where it is. LOL

  12. Stormi D Johnson says:

I always worry about you when I hear about the Hurricanes brewing down close to you! Glad this one wasn’t to bad and I hope you don’t get anymore! You got some cool books!

Have a great week and happy reading!
    Stormi
    Week in Review

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Stormi. Looks like Florence will be coming in later this week but won’t be in the Gulf. And I did get some great books. Already settling in with one:)

  13. Big ol’ NOPE for the Spider. The SIZE OF YOUR HAND! Nope Nope Nope. I can’t do spiders. šŸ™‚

I was hoping Florence would move out to sea but she is coming straight in, not by NJ but it looks like we might get some of her. Also about 3 more behind her…not a fan of Hurricane season.

I hope you have an amazing week Laura! Happy Reading! šŸ™‚

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL Spiders creep me out too! I was just checking on Florence. It’s definitely going to hit the coast around Friday. I hope everyone gets prepared and stays safe and glad it isn’t headed your way:) I’m worried about the ones that follow.

  14. Beware Of The Reader says:

OMG hurricane and spider as big as your hand???? Wow I don’t think I’d be strong enough to live in your country Laura! I hope next week will be hurricane-less and spider-less šŸ˜‰ Happy Sunday!

  15. I am afraid of storms, so hurricanes would have me hiding out somewhere. I’m glad yours is behind you…for now.

Enjoy that stash of books, and thanks for sharing. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m not a fan of storms either but we usually get something every afternoon in this climate. I pack up and go when the big hurricanes are coming. Stay in a cozy hotel until it’s over and hope everything is still there when I get back.

  16. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

Glad you made it through the storm okay! We have another hurricane heading this way again this coming week. I enjoy fall but not the constant barrage of tropical storms!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I hope you stay safe and the storm doesn’t do any damage. The waiting to see where it will come in is so nerve wracking.

  17. Iā€™m glad the storm wasnā€™t too bad. Banana spiders are creepy! Iā€™ve never seen one in real life, but someone I went to grad school with lived in the south. She had a video on her phone where she walked into the forest and there were banana spiders EVERYWHERE. Nope, nope. Never going in there. It was like the giant-spider-Forbidden-Forest scene from Harry Potter.

    • fuonlyknew says:

They have these huge webs, three dimensional and deep. There are often more than one spider in them though they keep far apart. I try to leave them be as then I know where they are. LOL

  18. Yvonne says:

Glad to hear the storm wasn’t too bad. Storms can certainly be scary. I have some of those books too. Enjoy them and have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I saw we had some of the same books. LOL The storm wasn’t bad but there’s a bad one heading for the east coast later this week and a few are brewing right behind it. Crossing my fingers nothing comes my way and hoping everyone stays safe.

  19. Forget storms-I would have to move if there was a spider that big near my house! Its flooded here from the non stop rain. My dogs are NOT amused.
    Have a good week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I have to mop my floors a lot. My dog tracks in muddy prints and then shakes off the rain. We’ve had a soggy last couple of months here and I’m over it. LOL I left the spider where it is. Just hope my dog doesn’t mess with it! So far he hasn’t noticed it.

  20. carolesrandomlife says:

I am so glad that you made it through the storm okay. It must be scary to not know how bad it is going to be. That is one tough spider! I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I never even heard the wind howl and the power never flickered. The spider’s web was damaged but he fixed it right back up in one day. LOL

  21. Berls says:

Glad the storm wasn’t too serious for you! Water log and a few branches is definitely a best case scenario! I’m glad I don’t live in an area that we have to worry about storms like that, I think I’d be pretty freaked out.

Hope you have a great week and enjoy all those books šŸ™‚

    • fuonlyknew says:

Every year I worry about hurricane season. This was a very quiet year until now. The weather is still hot and the Gulf waters are too and that’s conducive to brewing big storms. Just have to hope for the best.

  22. Jovita says:

I would be freaking out with that big banana spider, do they bite? Happy to hear that the storm wasn’t too bad. I haven’t seen these JR Ward books, I’m a big fan of BDB series. Stay safe Laura and enjoy all your new reads.

    • fuonlyknew says:

They do bite but only if you aggravate them. Which I try not to do. LOL I spotted the Ward books on Kim’s review post and had to give her a try. Been wanting to for some time.

  23. Glad you didn’t get any damage. I know they say my area is supposed to get some wind and rain from the hurricane hitting the east coast this week but we’re so far inland, I doubt it will amount to much. We’ve had rain the past 24 hours though and they are calling for some flooding. I grabbed some of those freebies too. I can see the spider in your picture – and that’s as close as I want to get. My husband hates spiders and once wasted a whole can of hairspray killing one because he wouldn’t get closer!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Be careful. That hurricane is coming straight in and could be worse for you than you are expecting. Especially with the ground already so saturated! I hate spiders but am fascinated by them too. And I love creepy movies and books about them. I know, weird! LOL

  24. Glad to hear you made it through the storm okay. Looks like you picked up some great new reads, especially for Halloween šŸ™‚

    • fuonlyknew says:

We got lucky and the strom wasn’t that bad. Enjoy those freebies. I already have a bunch of seasonal reads to get to:)

  25. Glad the storm didn’t bother you too much and that your friend survived! He’s enormous! I have family in south Mississippi and in Fort Morgan so I was paying attention but it looked like it never fully got its act together thankfully. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

My friend! LOL It is as long as it stays right there! The storm was moving so fast it didn’t have time to build. I feel for those in the path of Florence.

  26. A Renfro says:

We are bracing for something ourselves. Coast is supposed to get a Cat 3 or 4. We are about 2 hours inland, but it might get rough. Glad you made it through.

  27. Trin Carl says:

Love the background of your blog Laura. Hope to read at least one of those books you recommended.

  28. Looks like you had a good week and made it through the storm unscathed.
    sherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes

  29. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) says:

That spider is as big as your hand!?!! Holy cow! I thought he looked huge in the photo but was hoping it was the depth thing with items in the background. I guess my hoping was dashed. lol. Wow.

Glad the storm wasn’t a bad one for you. Take care!

  30. A spider as big as your HAND? Oh no, I’d be running down the street to get away from that! I’m glad you got through without any damage or power loss. I’m watching Hurricane Florence coverage on CNN and it’s looking really bad for flooding. Yea for Cryptid Zoo and Prepared!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The spider is a bit bigger now. Must be eating good! LOL Florence is a deadly one. I hope everyone got out if its path.

  31. You got a great haul! I love all the books! I spent the whole week working or preparing for the Hurricane. I’ve never lived anywhere hurricanes were a factor until now. It’ds been interesting but I’m exhausted. I think 2 feet of snow is much easier. So I’m way behind on my emails and blog reading. Anne – Books of My Heart

  32. I can’t imagine how scary it must be waiting for a hurricane. Glad I live many miles away!
