Welcome to The Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice.
This is a really fun meme!
The only rules are to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader and find a sentence or a few (no spoilers) that grabs you and post it.
Then go over to Freda’s Voice and leave your link so we can visit your 56!
My 56 for this week is from:
The Monster Museum
Ellie Jordan: Ghost Trapper #10
by J.L. Bryan
Genre: Fantasy . Paranormal / Horror
From 56% in the eBook.
A tiny black bird, small enough to perch on my thumbnail, stood in a nest of moonstones and small sapphires. It whistled a song while flapping its wings, bobbing its head, and opening and closing its beak, hopping and turning in an amazing impression of a live animal.
When it was done, it lay down in it’s nest and the round lid of the box closed over it.
I love music boxes. I still have one with the little ballerina spinning on a mirror. Remember that one? I’m thinking there may be more to this one. Sounds almost magical.
I love this series and hope it never ends. LOL Have you read any of the books?
For those who haven’t started this fantastic series yet, the first book is free.

Synopsis
Just outside the small but colorful mountain resort town of Foxboro, Tennessee lies Dr. Weirdman’s Mountain Museum of Monsters, Curiosities, and Ancient Mysteries. Once a major tourist attraction, it offers travelers the amusement of touring unusual underground caves and pseudo-scientific exhibits ranging from strange creatures to the supposed artifacts of lost civilizations.
Now the museum is a crumbling relic of an older age, fallen into disrepair. Its longtime owner has died, leaving it in the hands of a younger distant relative who knows nothing of how to run a failing tourist trap of a museum, but who is desperate to make a living and provide for his own children.
The museum has a serious ghost problem, though, and Ellie Jordan is called in from Savannah to help. An unexpected old friend joins Ellie at the last moment so that they can spend a snow-filled Christmas together in the mountains…if the ghosts of the restless dead don’t turn the holidays into a horrific tragedy.

Ooh, I might have to check this out! Thanks for sharing!
I hope you do. I adore this series.
Sounds good. I haven’t heard of this book before. This week I am featuring Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews. Happy reading!
I enjoyed yours too. I have got to get started on her books!
What an intriguing, interesting, and yet weird 56. A bird the size of a thumbnail?! :- ) Happy weekend!
It’s a mechanical bird in a music box!
Not my usual read, but the writing beautifully captures the moments. Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine, from an author I haven’t yet read: “SECRETS OF THE TULIP SISTERS”
The author sure can write and his characters are among my favorites:)
I have read one or two of this series and enjoyed them. I know you will. 🙂

You never know what to expect in his books. I love that:)
I haven’t read this series, but it sounds amazing. I love music boxes too. I have a small collection, in fact. Not because I collect them, but just ones that have been given to me over the years. Have a great weekend!
I have a few too. And some musical carousels also.
I’m intrigued by this one. Sounds like a good book and series.
I love the characters and the series:)
Oh I remember that part. It sounds beautiful and it as such a nice gesture <3
I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying the book! I really love this series too! I'm excited for the next one to come out because, heads up, it ends in a little bit of a cliffhanger, so be prepared. Lol
I loved that music box! I just finished it and came across the cliffhanger. Kind of was expecting it as there was too much to cover as I was approaching the end. At least we only have a couple of months to wait for the next one!
Sounds like an action-packed read.
Just finished it this morning. Even the parts without lots of spooky action kept me immersed:)
This series sounds really good! I’m gonna have to check it out. Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
I hope you get the chance to check these out. I’m always excited to get the next book.
Sounds like a deliciously creepy read. Enjoy!
Much of it is fun with some snarky dialogue. Then the author gets down to the spooky business. It can get intense.
