Some chit chat.

Gah! My yard and flowerbeds are a mess. The lawn is mowed. I have someone who does that every week. But I do all of the weeding and trimming. The overgrowth is out of control. After tending it faithfully all summer, I’ve run out of gumption. LOL It happens every year.  Nothing is slowing down yet so I figure I’ll clean it up one more time and then wait to winterize the delicate things.

And guess what I saw today. Blue skies with not a hint of a cloud….all day long! That hasn’t happened once all summer. Guess what I did? I shucked plans for working in the yard and spent all my time in the pool. The days are blistering hot with heat index warnings for 110 plus degrees. Even though the water temp in the pool is around 91 degrees, it still feels cooler than the air. Got sunburned too as I’ve been losing my tan due to so many rainy days.  Heading back out there now. Toodles!

Have a fabulous  Sunday and brand new week!

  1. Greg says:

Ha ha enjoy the pool! Heat indexes of 110- ye gads. I don’t think I’d leave the pool either… or the air conditioning lol.

The Melting- ooh I love the sound of that one, and the tagline too ha!

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL I go from AC to the pool and back again. In the spring and fall I do some reading outside first. Too hot to just sit outside in the summer. Reading The Melting now. The first book was pretty good and this picks right up where it left off.

  2. Andreea P. says:

I would love to have a pool day, but the Autumn weather is quickly taking over the city!

    Have a great reading week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ll still be swimming for a couple of months. I like it when the water cools down. Right now it’s around 91 in the pool.

  3. Oh no, you should wear sunscreen! I can’t even imagine weather like that. We’ve had sunny skies too, but that doesn’t mean heat 😀 in this season, at least. Actually, the weather has been pretty nice and I’m happy about that – autumn is my favorite season!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love the tropical climate. Even the super hot days with 100% humidity. I’d take that over freezing winters. LOL

  4. Aack!! I hate bushy grass! We have lots of bushy grass in our yard and it’s hard to mow down. I hope you have a great weekend!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays and Cover Spotlight!

    • fuonlyknew says:

With all of the rain we’ve had this summer, the lawn is so thick and grows so fast. I actually needed it mowed more than once a week many times.

  5. sjhigbee says:

Oh for sure – abandon doing everything and spend the time splashing about in the pool! Every sunny day at this time of year is a win, as far as I’m concerned… Those temperatures are something else again, though!

Autumn has now caught up with us here with cooling days and longer, colder nights. It’s about to get cold and nasty for a very long time:(.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I jumped in every chance I got. Just came in from a long swim, in fact. Our nights are still in the mid to high 70s. One thing I like about fall is cooler nights.

  6. We had rain for almost 14 days and I had to have someone cut the lawn. I was worried my hubby would keel over trying to bag it. Yes, this time of year I tend to forget about the flower beds. I should go out and switch to fall flowers..but I am too busy reading! Hope your week is simply wonderful.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve decided to let things go crazy. LOL When it finally cools here a bit I’ll get back into the yard work mood. I do plan to get some fall plants for the flower pots though.

  7. Yeah, I’d take the pool over gardening too! lol

  8. kozbisa says:

It’s the little things, like a clear sky after many cloudy days, that keep me going. I don’t know how you do yard work in that weather. I’d be dying.

  9. Beware Of The Reader says:

110 degrees! My gosh Laura where are you living??? And don’t feel guilty my garden is a mess too 😉 happy Sunday!

    • fuonlyknew says:

On the Gulf coast! 110 is the heat index. The actual temp is mid nineties and add in afternoon humidity and you can actually cook an egg on the hood of your car! LOL

  10. Liliana says:

Ellie Jordan! Yay! Hope you’re enjoying it! 🙂

And 110 degrees sounds awful (to me anyway, I hate the heat! Lol)! About 3 days ago it started to fell like fall here and I am living for it! The highest it’s been these last couple of days is like 75 degrees.

  11. Just downloaded Witch at Heart what with Halloween coming, looks interesting…you know how much I love WITCHES.

  12. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

Enjoy the blue skies! We have them today too but we’ll get the excess from Florence by Tuesday. Back to cloudy skies again!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve loved seeing the sun for a change. I hope the remnants of Florence are mild rains for you. She sure dumped a lot.

  13. Jackie says:

I envy the warmer temperature right now. I’m sick of the cold dammit. I’ve been eyeing J.L.Bryan’s Ghost Trapper novels but then I remember I don’t believe in ghosts, however, I like his writing. I think I have the first book on my kindle.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I try not too complain no matter how hot it gets. I don’t do cold. LOL Ellie Jordan is a fav series for me. I love the characters.

  14. Shannon says:

110! And I am over here just melting in “feels like 95 with the humidity”!
    The pool sounds nice though.

Grabbed the free book with the cat on the cover. 🙂 Thanks for the heads up!

  15. It was close to 100 every day last week, and I’m dying. I didn’t even attempt to go running last week. My body appreciates the break, but it’s going to suck when I start exercising again.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It has been melting weather for a while now here too. I don’t run anymore but enjoy long walks. Too hot for that right now so I swim instead.

  16. I noticed how badly my flower bed needs weeded today. It is shameful! Not shameful enough for me to go out in this heat and do anything, but still. Have a great week!

  17. Wow you really got the freebies! Well, we have water here but it’s all rain from the hurricane. We still haven’t made it to the pool. If I have extra time I read, blog, do laundry. I need to get to my yard too, lots of stick down and around. I am enjoying the cool down to the 70s though. Happy reading! Anne – Books of My Heart

  18. Rachel @Waves of Fiction says:

Oh my goodness! 110 degrees is too hot. Enjoy the pool. Thanks for the freebie info. I downloaded Ghost Trapper. I’ve seen good things about the series. Happy reading and thanks for visiting my blog. 🙂

  19. I’m already excited about my October reads! I need to get quite a bit read before then though so it is shjarks tonight!

  20. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

I am happy that finally summer is almost done around here. Since we don not have a fall/Autumn, we are stuck between summer and winter – unpredictability everyday.

  21. It got hot and humid here again, too. Today was good, but still, the humidity. Ugh. 😛

I love the cover for The Mouth of the Dark. 📚

I hope you are having a great week! 🌞

How did the bananas do this year? 🍌

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s so hot and sticky but at least I have the pool! The Mouth Of The Dark will go down as one of the weirdest stories I’ve read. LOL And the bananas are so tall and there are so many, I need to check for fruit. They should be starting now.
