Some chit chat.

The sun came out and no rain for days! We had several days with nary a cloud in the sky. Mind you it was brutal heat and high humidity, but I have a pool to cool off in.

Here’s how I spent my days.

20180916_105234

And look at the pretty blue sky!

20180916_105323

The bright glare from the sun only hints at how strong it still is. It was about 97 degrees with a heat index around 111. Even though the water temp was about 90, it still felt refreshing every time I rolled off my raft into the water.

And I spent my evenings typing like a madwoman, writing reviews for my 31 Days Of Thrills And Chills feature coming in October. My eyes are fried and my head is spinning. LOL

Have a fabulousย  Sunday and brand new week!

I can’t even. That isn’t fall. Ugh! You have no idea what the weather has been like in our area. Cold, fog, cloudy with no sign of blue sky or sunshine in days. I can’t. I am so grumpy and sick of rain and miserable. But thanks for sharing. I can just stare at your pics for a mood picker upper.
Those covers! Them are monsters gah! I’m looking at Planet of the Dead

    • fuonlyknew says:

I keep raving about the sun because we had such a rainy summer. It makes me appreciate this last blast of swimming weather, for sure. I plan to finish Planet Of The Dead this weekend so I can add it to my reviews for October. That cover sure is something!

  2. Lying by the pool looks very good. It has been years since I did that. My daughter had a pool at her last house, but not the current one. My condos have a pool, but it’s around the corner and down the street, so I don’t feel inclined to use it. LOL.

Enjoy those books, and thanks for sharing.

  3. Greg says:

Ooh that’s hot! Heat inex of 111- yikes. Yeah I imagine the pool would feel pretty good lol.

31 Days of Thrills and Chills sounds pretty good!

The Cat Manual looks awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • fuonlyknew says:

I had to grab the Cat Manual for myself. Not sure when I’ll get time to read it though. It’s been super hot but we have a slight cool down coming next week. 80s instedd of 90s. LOL My 31 Days feature will be reviews each day and some extra fun posts tossed in here or there. Probably why I’ve been missing visiting some blogs and posting other reviews right now.

  4. sam@WLABB says:

Your yard is really nice, but I don’t think I would acclimate to that weather. I nabbed Rock the Boat too. Sounds fun. (and now I am singing that song in my head)

    • fuonlyknew says:

I had to acclimate when I moved here. Now I freeze when I go back home to visit. The only thing I miss is the white Christmas. Now that song is in my head too. LOL

  5. Oh wow, I am a little jealous of that view ๐Ÿ˜€ looks great. The pool looks wonderful ๐Ÿ™‚
Oh yay, the review for Merel! I’m off to read it.
Hope you have a wonderful week, Laura ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Yep, thank goodness you have that pool but dang, you need to plop a bag of ice into that pool. That’s amazing the water was that warm!! I heard you guys had it bad down there this week!! Is the heat supposed to continue this week?!?!

I LOVE Katie Ruggle! I read the first few books in that series, I need to go back to it ๐Ÿ™‚ And YAY! for your favorite month coming up. Now go rest those eyes!! Have a great week!!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It would take a truck load of ice to cool it down! LOL You’re going to enjoy the rest of Katie’s series. I loved all of them. And October will be filled with horror and thriller posts. I’m excited about it even though it will consume so much of my time.

  7. Jan says:

With temps like that you need a pool! We had a few days that hit 90 this week, but now it’s much cooler and I’m loving it. Hope you have a good week.

  8. Stormi D Johnson says:

Jealous! That pool looks so refreshing! It’s cooling down a bit her in Missouri, the days are okay but the nights are dipping into the 50’s and I am not ready!! ๐Ÿ™ Can’t wait for your 31 days of thrills and chills! I can never get that far ahead on reading to have enough books read for something like that. I do try but fail. ๐Ÿ™‚ I do plan on reading some spookies though!

    Have a great week!

    Week in Review

    • fuonlyknew says:

After 30 + years here I’m still not used to the hot and steamy nights we have. Our spring and fall are very short and we don’t get much time to open windows and enjoy the cooler air. Working hard on reviews for October. I found some good ones!

  9. It got up to 90 here in Illinois too. So weird! We’re actually taking our pool down (completely) this weekend, so we won’t have it as an escape from the heat anymore. ๐Ÿ™

  10. That looks so relaxing. Similar heat where I am, but no pool. I was pretty anti-pool when we got the house. (Money + upkeep) But after living here for a month, I’m more open to the idea.

    Grabbed What Survives Us.

    Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Enjoy the book:) I probably wouldn’t enjoy where I live without a pool. I love reading outdoors and the pool is refreshing relief from the heat.

  11. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

The pool looks super inviting. Finally the summer is done here in Dubai and the very short autumn is here before the winter hits. I am glad you are having despite the heat.

    Gayathri @ Elgee Writes

  12. So many pretty books. I’m glad you are enjoying the pool; I couldn’t manage the heat. We are at least down to the 80s now. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • fuonlyknew says:

We’re supposed to be 80s this week too. But then you add in the heat index and humidity. well, it still gets mighty hot. LOL

  13. Those sorts of temps are the norm here. We don’t get much of a fall until November. I am looking forward to November.

Good luck with all of those reviews!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It sounds like our weather is similar. I’m in no hurry for winter! I have almost half of the reviews drafted. I just need to polish and schedule them and then work on the rest.

  14. Ugh I am so jealous of your pool! I am NOT jealous of the weather though. I am ready for these high temps to go away!

  15. Good thing you have a pool to keep you cool! I’m jealous of your review writing. I have 5 more to do. sigh

    • fuonlyknew says:

I don’t know what life is without my pool! LOL I still have at least 15 reviews to write for my feature, not including other review books I took in. Yikes! LOL

  16. Seems like you had a fun week. And those views are aweosme.
All the books are new to me. I hope you enjoy them.

Have a lovely week and happy reading!

  17. Beware Of The Reader says:

Hahahaha Laura spending your days in the swimming pool and night typing reviews is my idea of heaven! Enjoy the sunny days ๐Ÿ˜‰

  18. Love the pool shots and I don’t blame you being there with temps and heat indexes like that. Planet of the Dead has one of the best covers I’ve seen in a long time. I went and grabbed the Carnival book – it was still free. Can’t wait for your October feature, however I’m sure my wishlist will dread it!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s fun sharing photos of the place I worship. LOL I love that cover too and the books pretty good so far. I had to treat myself to the Carnival book too. It sounds interesting and such a wild cover.

  19. Literary Feline says:

I am envious of your pool. We didn’t get ours up this year (we have an above ground). ๐Ÿ™ I am glad you have been able to enjoy some pool time and good weather! I hope you enjoy your new books! They all look perfect for this time of year. Have a great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s been wonderful pool weather and I plan to enjoy it for as long as I can:) I am now looking for holiday reads for Christmas I want to share some fun ones for the holiday. I mean to do this each year and fail so I want to get started now.

  20. Liliana says:

That is such a pretty view! ๐Ÿ˜ I’m looking forward to seeing your posts coming up in October!

  21. Lindsi says:

Summer is winding down! We’ve been enjoying the pool while we can, but I’m looking forward to fall. I save all my spooky/suspenseful books for this time of the year!

    Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?

    • fuonlyknew says:

It is coming up on time for spooky reads. Of course, I never need an excuse. LOL I’ll miss the pool when the weather turns, but then I’ll be enjoying sitting outside reading, especially in the morning, without melting. LOL

  22. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

I now really want a pool! That looks like a nice way to spend the last hot days of the year!

  23. I was complaining about 90. I would die with 111. I can’t with this weather anymore, I need the cool weather! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Pool looks so refreshing!
I hope you have a fantastic week, Laura! Happy Reading!

  24. Your pool looks so nice! Our pool here is already closed for winter :(. I hope you like The Outsider. I need to read that one eventually. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I have a few months before I’ll cover the pool. It gets filled with leaves otherwise and much too cold to get in and vacuum them out. LOL

  25. Wow! Lovely pictures of the pool! Glad you had a fun time!

    Hereโ€™s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog

  26. Daniela Ark says:

omg I am so green with envy! The pool pics!!!! I want to be there so badly! Especially now that summer is over here! Glad you are having a good time! I cannot wait to hear about The Outsider! I’m still in the quest to find a King’s book I can finish LOL

    • fuonlyknew says:

I wish a could twitch my nose and zap you here. LOL Have you tried any of King’s earlier books. Those are my favorites.

  27. Yvonne says:

That pool looks so nice. Enjoy it and enjoy all those books. They look great. Have a great week!

  28. Pool times sounds perfect for right about now! It’s been brutal here too but the last couple of days have been really grey and rainy so I’m hoping that means fall temps will be appearing soon. Enjoy your books! Katie Ruggle is on my Must Read Soon list. Hope you’re having a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

We have some rainy days this week and a little bit of a cool down but then it’s back to sun and hot this coming weekend.

  29. Oh yeah. I hope the summer keeps right on giving. lol

  30. Planet of the Dead is going straight to wishlist! I wish I had an indoor heated swimming pool…I’d love that all year round! It is freezing cold here this week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ll be reviewing Planet Of The Dead in October. Reading it now! My pool feels like it’s heated with all of the hot weather we’ve had recently. LOL

  31. I have pool envy. ๐Ÿ™
Rock the Boat sounds like a good read… Have a good week!

  32. Love the cover of Planet of the Dead, lol.

  33. Angelica Joy says:

How lucky that your weather is nice enough to sit by the pool ๐Ÿ˜ I wish I had a pool. We are currently in spring and there’s been some warm weather but not consistent. I’m so jealous of the pool ๐Ÿ˜

    Have a great reading week!

  34. herding cats says:

I have got to try Ruggle at some point. Pretty view you had there. We’re drying out here from all the hurricane rain and it has been SO nice not being constantly drizzled/poured on. lol

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m going to try more of Ruggle’s books now. She writes such great characters. I’m loving the pool and the sun as long as I can!
