My Review

I do like short stories and collections. There are a bunch in here, along with some poems. It also includes authors I’ve enjoyed before and some new ones I’ll be checking out further.

While many of these were really good, some weren’t my cuppa tea. That often happens when there are this many to read in one book.  Way to many to review individually, and I don’t want to play favorites.  I’ll just say the ones that grabbed me were creeptastic.

Plenty to keep you entertained and the right time of year to enjoy some spooky. I’m glad I read these.

  1. I don’t usually like short stories as compared to novels, but somehow short stories in the horror genre work well. Both covers are nice, but I like the monochromatic cover better. The hooded figure is so mysterious!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I can appreciate author’s who write short stories. A lot of showing in a lot less words can’t be easy. I’m not sure which cover I like most. They are both good. Maybe leaning towards the first one as you can read it more clearly.

  2. I definitely enjoy that first cover more. You are getting me into the spirit of Halloween with this one! I do agree that the short story collections can be hit or miss. This does sound like it has some great content, though.

    • fuonlyknew says:

This had so many different ideas in it. Even though some of the stories didn’t work for me, the others earned it the rating I gave it.

  3. I like anthologies and collections but admit I struggle with reading and reviewing them sometimes. I always expect a few tales in a book like this that might not strike my fancy, but hopefully the good in books like this outweigh the not so good 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I enjoy collections and most of these have me curious to see what other books the author’s have to offer.

  4. The second cover doesn’t really make you want to grab and read it!

  5. Daniela Ark says:

Glad to hear the ones you enjoyed were creepfantastic 🙂 Love that term! 🙂 I’m excited about getting to a short stories collection ARC I have that is about witches. Will tell you all about it when I read it 🙂

  6. carolesrandomlife says:

I do like read short story collections from time to time. There are usually a few duds but some really great ones as well. Glad there were some gems in this one!

  7. Oooo, I love that cover – it’s so spooky and creepy and well.. haunted, haha. I do enjoy the first cover more than the second one though – I feel it fits the vibe of Halloween much better.

  8. Northwoman says:

This is the kind of anthology I read most often. I like how I get a taste of an author and their writing. I have found some great series doing this. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • fuonlyknew says:

Mine too. I like that you can stop easily and come back later and it is a fun way to discover whether you enjoy the writing ot new authors. Plus, it’s horror! LOL

  9. I like the black cover with the gaping mouth best.

  10. Short horror stories do work well, as they usually have a great (shocking) twist at the end, which I love!!! Great cover!
