Some chit chat.

Christmas came and went so fast. I had to change my plans as I ended up catching one hell of a cold. Stayed home as I didn’t want to give it to my family. I swear it happens every Christmas. At least this is the third in a row where I got sick. I’m thinking next year I’ll isolate myself the week before so I don’t catch anything. I still enjoyed the day. Spent it watching shows and movies with my son. I hope to try to get together with family in January. I have a brother coming down and we all want to get together.

One of the shows I watched was You. Have you seen it? I watched it all in one day. Very psychologically twisted. I also watched Tidelands. Not sure how I feel about it. Didn’t get interesting til the last couple of episodes. And I binged Schitt’s Creek. LOL What can I say. It’s too much fun. And then I watched Avengers: Infinity War. So fun, so shocking and so sad. I almost couldn’t watch the ending.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you a Happy New Year!

  1. I got sick 3 years in a row too. A humidifier made a huge difference. Hope you ferl better soon. Happy new year

    • fuonlyknew says:

A humidifier! Why didn’t I think of that. I used to set pans of water on the heating vents in my old house. I think I have one in the closets somewhere. Thanks for reminding me! Happy New Year!

  2. Enjoy your books, which are all new to me. I started to watch Tidelands, but then got distracted by another show. I may try again.

Have a great New Year’s and upcoming week. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • fuonlyknew says:

I did treat myself to some good books:) And I made myself finish the season of Tidelands. Not sure if I’ll continue with it though. Happy New Year:)

  3. Greg says:

Christmas did come and go fast! My mom got sick too and missed the get- together- we were riding together so I skipped it as well, but we still got to celebrate some. It was kinda nice to have a quiet one. And ooh Tidelands! Ha ha I’m on episode 5 and was gonna bail- should I stick it out for the last few?? I’m having trouble liking anybody on the show lol. Love the location scenery though!

    All systems Red is fun!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m finally feeling better. Just in time to go back to work. LOL I’m not liking anyone on Tidelands either. Not much to like about them. The last episode was okay but I can’t see myself watching the next season. I plan to start All Systems Red this coming week. I treated myself to it for Christmas.

  4. Beware Of The Reader says:

Oh no! That’s too bad you had a cold for Christmas Laura! Maybe you are …allergic to Christmas if it is the third year in a row? LOL Now I am not surprised you liked something sounding like “have you see it”! Happy Sunday <3

  5. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

I got sick around Christmas this year as well. I am still with the cold virus and hoping it would get better without medicines. Happy New Year!

  6. Fingers crossed I’ve avoided all germs so far but it’s usually around March that I get hit with the whammy! I’m hoping to avoid it this time!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I usually run into the flu in March. Been lucky the last couple years and crossing my fingers it will miss me this time too!

  7. Sorry you got sick. I hope you feel better soon!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

  8. It sucks being ill at Christmas, I was ill almost every year when at uni and it was so frustrating! I’m glad you managed to still have a nice day and have plans to meet up with family.

Hope you have a Happy New Year!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s been a long time since I caught a cold. Figures it happened for the holiday. I’m getting better now. Happy New Year to you too, Nicci:)

  9. Getting sick at Christmas is stinky. One year we all got the flu, and even our young daughter didn’t feel like opening gifts! So we opened just a few and went back to bed. I hope you are fully recovered now.

Martha Wells is one of my sweet husband’s fave authors. I look forward to reading what you think of All Systems Red.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s just me and my son and he hid from me. LOL I’ve been wanting to read Martha Wells and treated myself to one of her books. So many people I know love this series.

  10. Sorry you got sick on Christmas. We watched Infinity war this weekend also, I think I figured a few things out but I am looking foward to seeing how they end it.

I haven’t heard of You. Did you get to watch Birdbox yet? I have heard so many people talking about it. I might watch it with my husband next weekend.

I hope you have a great week, Laura! Happy Reading! xx

    • fuonlyknew says:

Infinity War was intense. I can’t wait to see how they end it. You was so twisted. And yep, I watched Bird Box. Loved it!

  11. kozbisa says:

I don’t think I turned on the TV once when my daughter was here. She did put the bowl game on the other day (she is a Syracuse grad), but that was about it. Colds are so tricky, because you just have to wait them out, and who has time to sit around until they pass? I hope you are feeling better.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I usually don’t watch television until night time but I enjoyed changing that up this week. I am feeling better. Nice to feel like myself again.

  12. Anne says:

Wow everybody, including my daughter is sick except me. But she actually told me – you can’t get sick. It has been 17 years since I had a cold. I really hope you all feel better. Drink lots of fluids.

You’ve been watching, I still haven’t although I want to watch Infinity Wars since I didn’t get to it in the theater. I have been doing plenty of audiobooks to catch up on them.

Happy New Year! Anne – Books of My Heart

    • fuonlyknew says:

I hope you don’t get sick. Crossing my fingers for you. I’m finally feeling better and ready for returning to work next week. I still have two more days off to enjoy:) I did listen to 2 audio books from a series I wanted to finish. Now I’m ready to start a science fiction one by a new author for me.

  13. Yvonne says:

I saw an ad for You but I haven’t watched yet. It looks like my kind of show,

Hope you feel better and Happy New Year!

  14. StackingMy BookShelves says:

I want to read Martha Wells – Chuckles says the series is awesome. So I have to pick that one up soon. I hope you feel better soon and enjoy the new books. Thanks for the freebies! Happy New Year!

    Mary

    • fuonlyknew says:

I found the series through Chuckles and just skimmed a couple of her reviews. She enjoyed them so I know I will:) Have a Happy New Year!

  15. Oh no! Sorry you got sick. I hope you get better soon <3

  16. That stinks about being sick. Hope you managed to salvage some family time in some fashion. I just saw YOU is on Netflix and I hope to watch it soon. I never read the book though so I wonder if I should try to cram it in first. We’ve been watching a lot of football over the holidays and then I fell down the gaming rabbit hole and played Until Dawn until I beat it. I have been reading some though. Hope you are feeling much better now!

    • fuonlyknew says:

We’ll all be getting together in January. My brother is coming down and we usually do some fun stuff while he’s here. I didn’t notice that You was a book first. Hmm… curious now. I haven’t done any gaming in ages. I miss it!

  17. Stormi D Johnson says:

Man that sucks you got sick at Christmas! Sounds like you had a fun time binging shows though. I know the ending of Infinity Wars tore at my heart! I can’t wait to watch the new one coming in 2019!

Have a great week and Happy New Year!
    Stormi

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. I think I’m just unlucky. I’ll quarantine myself before next Christmas. LOL My son and I watched Infinity Wars together and we both just sat there with out mouths hanging open. Even he was teary eyed. Have a Happy New Year, Stormi:)

  18. What striking book covers! I hope you feel better soon. Laying low and resting are the best things you can do to nurse your cold. Enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I spent a lot of time napping and lounging on the sofa. Read some books and watched some telly. It worked and I’m feeling more like myself again. Thanks!

  19. A Renfro says:

Merry Christmas and sorry to hear about your cold. That always happens to us at the holidays.

  20. Tammy says:

Happy New Year! I was shocked at how fast December went, but I’m glad the holidays are almost over and I can get back to my normal routine😊

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m that way too. Right now my house looks so empty after taking down the decorations! Good thing I cleaned before I put them up as I’m all lazy now. LOL

  21. Rachel @Waves of Fiction says:

Sorry to hear you got sick! I had to work Christmas, but it was slow and I ended up being on call for most of it.

I read You and it was morbidly fascinating. Didn’t really like any characters except for Joe, which I guess is kinda awful with him being a killer and all, lol. I didn’t know they were making it into a series! I wonder if they’ll do anything differently from the book.

    • fuonlyknew says:

At least it wasn’t the flu! All better now and enjoying my last couple of days off from work. I hadn’t realized You was a book first until someone mentioned it. And I’m with you. I was team Joe. LOL

  22. Bummer…you being sick. Got some great looking books to tide you over though.
    sherry @ fundinmental

  23. tonyalee says:

Is the show YOU based on the book?? Because if so, I am all over that!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I think it is. I didn’t know there was a book. If the story is about a stalker then it’s from the book.

  24. Lynn says:

I read and loved All Systems Red last month! I hope you’ll enjoy it too!
I still need to watch You but I hope to do so soon! I want to see how it compares to the book!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I can’t wait to start it. So many people are loving the series! You was chilling and I really liked it. I want to read the book now.

  25. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

I’m sorry you got sick for the holidays. My kids had a run of sickness a few years in a row for every holiday and it was always the pits. 🙁 But it does sound like you got some relaxation in! Happy New Year!

    • fuonlyknew says:

At least it was a cold and not the flu. Been there the last couple of holidays and it was awful. All better now:)

  26. Lola says:

Sorry to hear you caught a cold on Christmas. I am glad you still enjoyed yourself at least. I hope you can visit your family in January instead. I hope you’ll enjoy your new books!
