This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Some chit chat.

I hope you all had a safe and Happy New Year! I spent mine at home enjoying some movies, shows and great books. The weather has been warm and the sun finally came out after over a month of rainy and gloomy skies. What a bright beginning to a brand new year!

I usually make it a point to get in the pool New Years day. I was just getting over a cold so all I did was dip my toe in. It counts, right? LOL

Not much else to report so I’m keeping this short.

Have a lovely Sunday.

Ooh I’m so glad to hear you’re a One Million Years BC fan! And glad you had a nice New Years! Mine was low key as well and I loved it! 🙂

Love the look of Moon Games and Night Cats!

  2. Enjoy your books and your week. They are all new to me. Happy New Year!

  3. Rachel @Waves of Fiction says:

I think dipping your toe in totally counts! I hate cold water with a passion so I’d never go swimming in a pool unless it was in the Caribbean or something, lol!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I was born where the lakes were frigid year round and it took some getting used to the hot water of the Gulf Of Mexico. I still prefer cooler water for swimming. But not freezing. LOL

  4. I try to be in my bed and asleep before midnight at New Year to avoid being disturbed by the fireworks! All I did was read and watch things I have on disk and that was fine with me!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I stayed up watching a movie but would not have realized it was midnight if the neighbor’s hadn’t set off their fireworks. I enjoyed a quiet holiday.

  5. Happy New Year! ‘Fire Devil’ looks great. I haven’t heard about that series before.
I sure do miss the sun. It feels like it has been rainy and cloudy here for months.
Have a great week and happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I was excited to get Fire Devil. The Ellie Jordan series is a favorite of mine. And it’s been warm and sunny for several days. I’m loving it! A great start to the new year:)

  6. Happy New year. Enjoy all your new books!

  7. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

That is an interesting tradition. Dipping the toe is all I can do here as well, it is still officially winter here, short one at that. Have a great week ahead.

  8. Happy New Year! Oh my, even dipping a toe in with this weather we’re having here, would be too much for me – you are brave!! lol

Here’s my post for this Sunday wrap up, and my personal 2019 goals.

  9. LOL, of course sticking your big toe into the pool counts!
I hope the nice weather will continue, so you can read your new books in the sunshine.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It should count. Even dipping one toe in was a shock. LOL We’re supposed to have more spring like weather til mid-week and I’m loving it.

  10. Anne says:

That is short. They close the pool here in September and open it again in May. I love seeing all your books. I had to go right out and get Rescuing Finley. Enjoy your reads. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • fuonlyknew says:

I don’t really close the pool. Just kind of winterize it with chemicals and wait for warm weather again. Rescuing Finley sounds so good and I’m looking forward to reading it.

  11. Beware Of The Reader says:

Laura that’s funny that your tradition is dipping in the pool on New year as in my country many dip in the North Sea (and if the name “North” wasn’t enough to explain, it is COLD!) or in any (cold) river! I always watch them on TV while I am very warm and comfy on my couch! Happy Sunday and I hope your cold is in the past now

    • fuonlyknew says:

It was easier to brave the cold water when I was younger. I swear its hard to breathe when swimming in such cold water now. Guess my time has come to just keep dipping in a toe. LOL

  12. Do you close your pool in the winter? or can you leave it open all year? Living in NJ we have to close it but I have always wondered what you all do on the other side of the US.

It has been overcast the last few days. It’s starting to get annoying, I forgot what the sun looks like. I have the first book of the Hell Divers and I hear so many people talking about what an amazing series it is, I might need to check it out just to see if it would be something I would enjoy.

Have a great week, Laura! Happy Reading! xx

    • fuonlyknew says:

I run the filter pump less and cover it until the leaves stop falling. But I don’t really close it. Winter is short hear and I still enjoy looking at it even if I’m swimming. I love the Hell Divers books. The fifth one comes out in May and I can’t wait!

  13. kozbisa says:

It’s kind of fun that your do your own version of the polar plunge for New Year’s. It’s very popular up here, but the ocean is super cold in NY/NJ.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I try to do it every year but just couldn’t get all the way in this time. Too darn cold and I’m getting older and wiser. LOL

  14. Carole says:

Dipping your toe in totally counts! I couldn’t imagine doing that right now although this weekend has been pretty nice. Enjoy all of your new books and have a great week!

  15. Toes definitely count! Some great book additions this week and the cover of Fire Demon does look awesome!

    • fuonlyknew says:

My big toe wasn’t happy with me. LOL I am finding some great new reads and have more on my wish list. Waiting on some sales! Fire Devil has a spectacular cover. I can’t wait to get reading!

  16. Lynn says:

Happy 2019! Looks like you got some amazing books, I hope you’ll enjoy them all!
    Have a wonderful week!

  17. Yvonne says:

I spent New Years at home too. I have a few of those books on my Kindle. Hope you enjoy them. Happy New Year!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I loved going out and partying for the new year when I was younger. Now I enjoy a safe, quiet holiday at home. Happy New Year:)

  18. sjhigbee says:

Happy New Year, Laura – and I don’t blame you for not getting into the pool if you’re still smitten with a cold. I LOVE the look of Fire Devil, that cover is fabulous – I hope you thoroughly enjoy it and look forward to hearing your take on this one:)

    • fuonlyknew says:

It wasn’t my cold that kept me out of the pool. It was the bone chilling water. LOL And I’m so excited to read Fire Devil. I love the Ellie Jordan series. Happy New Year to you also, Sarah:)

  19. I think everyone has been sick! At least you dipped your toe in. Glad the sun is out!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I noticed that when visiting other posts today. Even though I was all better there was no way I was swimming in the freezing cold pool. LOL

  20. Redhead says:

The Fire Devil book looks fantastic!

  21. krazaykris says:

I hope that you’re feeling much better now. I just got over the flu at Christmas time and it was rough. I hope the warm sunny weather keeps up for you. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks and good to hear you’re feeling better too. Mine was a cold that hung around for a bit. I swear I’m hiding out next Christmas. LOL

  22. Berls says:

Boy do I wish we had pool weather here! It’s so cold! Sorry to hear you’ve been sick though 🙁 hope you’re feeling better this week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

My cold is gone and I’m ready to return to work. It may feel like swimming weather here but the water is freezing! LOL

  23. Daniela Ark says:

Books, movies and shows sounds like the best way to celebrate New Years Eve! Looking forward to your review of the sensitives! Looks good!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I devoured a bunch of new books and watched new episodes in some favorite shows. Totally couch potato! LOL

  24. Hope you are feeling better. 🙂

  25. I like your tradition of getting in the pool on New Years. 🙂 Toe-dipping definitely counts. Hope you enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s been around 80 here recently and I’m so tempted but then I test the water and still freezing. LOL

  26. Literary Feline says:

Sounds like a nice way to bring in the New Year. Toes definitely count. 🙂 We had cold and windy weather to start off the new year and a little rain this past weekend. We desperately need more rain, so any little but is welcome. I hope you enjoy your new books, and have a great week, Laura! Happy Reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

We had rain for over a month! It’s now been warm and sunny. It feels like spring but I know better. LOL

  27. Olivia says:

I like the tradition and I hope you have a great week, but most importantly an amazing 2019!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks. Happy New Year! Even though I wasn’t brave enough to swim it still was nice to look at the sun sparkling on the water.

  28. Stormi D Johnson says:

Happy New Year! Hope you enjoy your new reads!

  29. So sorry you had a cold! Not the best way to bring the New Year in. I hope it’s better now. Have a wonderful week!

  30. Happy New Year to you too! I hope that you’re feeling better and that you enjoy all of your new reads. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks! I’m all better and have already read a bunch of great books! Its going to be a fun year in reading:)

  31. StackingMy BookShelves says:

Rick Woods book looks scary. I soooo have to get that one. Looks like some awesome reads this week!

    Mary

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m trying to figure out what that is on the cover. Something voodoo??? LOL Whatever it is, I look forward to finding out.

  32. We had a quiet New Years at home like we do every day. It was great. 🙂 And yes, dipping a toe in definitely counts. 😉
