Some chit chat.

Hurricane Sally unleashed a huge can of whoop ass on me. My front porch got torn all up. The roof has to be replaced but I didn’t get flooded. And my huge pecan tree fell in the back yard, tearing up the back patio and landing on my pool. I’ve been through plenty of hurricanes, some bigger than Sally, but I’ve never been so scared. I went to bed around 10 p.m. when the power went out. It was a Category 1. I woke up around 3 A.M. and the wind was blowing so hard it sounded like harmonics out there. My son and I huddled in the hallway until daylight and the wind died down some. We were without power for around a week and a half and over two weeks without internet service. The clean up will be ongoing for months. Trees are still laying in yards and on houses. We are so thankful to be okay. As soon as I get things more managed, I’ll start visiting everyone’s posts again.

Due to the hurricane I won’t be doing my 31 Days Of Thrills And Chills feature this month. It’s such fun and I hate not doing it but I don’t have time to sit down and write reviews for every day of October. I’ll be doing it again next year though. And I might try something similar for Christmas. We’ll see.

Stay safe and take care!

  5. Oh no, your pool! That sucks but I am glad you both are fine as that is what counts! Good luck with the clean up. I will miss your 31 days of Thrills and Chills but it’s totally understandable. Maybe you can do a countdown to Halloween at the end of the month with some spookies if you have time.

OMG I am sorry you had to go through it. I am happy you are okay and got through it safely!

  10. I’m glad you’re safe! Sorry about the damage. I hope it is repaired quickly. Have a good week!

  11. I’m sorry things were so damaging but thrilled you are safe. I know that doesn’t mean it won’t be weeks of work and expenses to get things in shape again. I’m feeling swamped by house projects and there isn’t anything weather related. I hope this phase goes smoothly for you. It’s a huge undertaking to do 31 days of something. I always want to do more than I do but I try to do it in small bursts. Have a comfortable week ahead!

  12. Wow, that must have been really scary. So glad you and your family are okay! I feel bad about the damage to your place. Enjoy your new books.

  13. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

OMG Laura!!! I am so sad for you! I was wondering why I didn’t see your post last week. I am glad you are safe but I hope you have insurance that will cover the costs because…that sucks. All my thoughts to you!

  14. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

I’m so glad y’all are okay!! That’s a long time to be without power and internet. I’m glad it’s back, but I’m sad to hear about your pecan tree. Hopefully the pool is okay, too!

  15. Thank God you’re all ok-that sounds terrifying. I’m very grateful for our mild climate over here and not being subjected to the pure fear of that kind of weather. I’m sorry about the damage you took but I’m also glad it wasn’t way worse for you.

  16. A Renfro says:

Sorry to hear that. Hang in there.

  17. Katherine says:

I’m so glad you’re okay but so sorry to hear about the damage. It’s funny what causes damage – and for only being a Cat 1 Sally sure did cause a lot. I hope you’re able to get some rest and relax time with all the other craziness going on.
