2013 Outdo Yourself Reading Challenge

What’s your reading goal for 2013? If it’s to read more books, then this is the reading challenge for you! There have been almost 400 readers who wanted to outdo themselves so far. Are you up for the challenge? Reading Challenge Details:

  • Runs January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2013 (books read prior to 1/1/2013 do not count towards the challenge). You can join at anytime. Sign up on The Book Vixen’s blog.
  • The goal is to outdo yourself by reading more books in 2013 than you did in 2012. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you. You can move up a level as often as you’d like but no moving down.
  • Books can be any format (bound, ebook, audio).
  • Novellas that are at least 100 pages in length, as well as full-length novels, will count for this reading challenge.
  • Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed.
  • Grab the reading challenge button and post this reading challenge on your blog to track your progress. Please include a link back to this sign-up post so others can join the reading challenge too. You do not have to be a book blogger to participate; you can track your progress on Goodreads or LibraryThing.

Levels:

Getting my heart rate up – Read 1–5 more books

Out of breath – Read 6–10 more books

Breaking a sweat – Read 11–15 more books

I’m on fire! – Read 16+ more books

My goal is to read 200 books in 2013. That’s 100 more than my last challenge in 2012.

My level: I’m on fire!

I can’t resist a challenge! And I’ve already got a list started for January 1st!

Comments
  1. I joined GR on Jan. 1, 2012, and of course set myself a “year-for” goal, so of course I’ll have to boost it for this. On Monday (Dec. 3) I also set myself a personal 2013 reading challenge, and I’m adding to it daily: to read the books I started in 2012 but didn’t finish (almost exclusively because of the Review Mountain), to read the books I bought in 2012 and haven’t gotten to, and to read some series (like George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire).

Cool goals. I set some for myself and surpassed them by quite a bit. So I figured to set a huge challenge. This one is perfect for me. Itching to get crackin!

You go girl! 200 is quite a goal. 🙂

Hey girl! Where ya been? Hope everythings been okay:)

To be honest, I think I’ll meet this count and then some. I have so many books lined up that I’ve been wanting to read. I’ve decided for every three review books, I’ll then pull out one from quite a while ago that I really want to read. Motivates me to write those reviews, which I love doing!

  3. Sounds fun! I’ve never made a goal, though I did keep a list from this year. So I’m gonna have to do this.

Wow, Laura. That’s some challenge! I wish I was brave enough to sign up. I probably read 100 (that would qualify) this year so far, so I’m afraid of committing to more. That would turn me to ash! I know how mad my life has been and I ache for a few days which won’t start with a to do list a foot long.
Anyway, I’ll accept a writing challenge: 5 books pubbed next year (plus a series of 12 novellas, if I can get started in time, for a bunch of extra shiny gold stars).
And if ever there will be a few days you haven’t heard from me in 2013, come and get me out of that asylum, please – promise me! Thank you.
Now I’ll be able to concentrate on the two reviews due out today. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

If you are going to publish all of those, I better hurry up!
Blood is Heavier and Martin Little, Resurrected are on my list for January. As soon as I’m done with those, I’ll get Eternal Island.
I started Martin Little and had to set it aside to catch up on some stuff. It’s top of my list in 2013 challenge.
When I come up for air from my blog and reading, I’ll check on you to make sure you remember to eat and sleep!
