Welcome to Thursday Theatre

Here is where I’ll be posting video clips about books and movies.

There just aren’t many movies about Gargoyles out there.

Sure, you can catch some on the SyFy Channel. But. I’m always disappointed in the cheesy CG creatures.

My favorite gargoyle movie is from 1972.

I know, you can tell it’s a costume, but the same could be said for The Creature From The Black Lagoon, and I loved that movie too.

Do you have a favorite Gargoyle film or book?

Let me know. I’m always looking for something new.

  1. My favorite gargoyle film is Disney’s “Hunchback of Notre Dame” LOL! (I laugh because it’s true)

  2. Hmmm…. I wrote copy for a video company years back that released a gargoyle flick where the gargs were really quite philosophical… long conversations w/ humans about their garg-ness, etc. they were actually kinda whine-y. Costumes were rubber-cheesy but not all that terrible. Can’t recall name, of course…probably made in the late ’80s…

  3. I love it!!! Can’t think of any gargoyles offhand, but you did great. I love the cheesiness.

  4. Loved this film, I thought the Gargoyle costume/ make-up was awesome.

Another good one would be Tales From The Darkside – The Movie. it was 3 stories but the 3rd segment, “Lover’s Vow,” was an awesome story, where a gargoyle atop of a NYC building comes to life. James Remar and Rae Dawn Chong stared in it.

  5. Elisabeth says:

I’m not especially familiar with gargoyles in literature and drama, but you’ve gotten me curious. Perhaps I’ll have to remedy my ignorance!
