Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

TeaserTuesdays2014e

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page.
•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Teaser #1 from page 47 in the print copy.

She looked around the kitchen. her two sous chefs absenting the room, knowing they would best be in the way for the next fifteen minutes. Tarragon and mustard? No, much too French. She could dice some tomatoes and add a bit of cream. No, you’d barely be able to tell the difference. Cardamom would clash. Cinnamon could work – she’d keep it in mind. Dill? Not really. Horseradish? Please.

Teaser #2 from page 52 in the print copy

This kitchen, this porch, this railing, would belong to someone new then. Maybe eventually another person would love standing here as much as she did, would feel wrapped in  its embrace, would develop comforting sense memories from the sound of tires on the gravel drive, or the squealing of a little girl on the swing set across the way, or the slightly discordant church bells down the block.

I hadn’t started to read Leaves when I went searching through it to find a couple of teasers. But then I felt a need to go the beginning and I’m now almost a third of the way through it. It’s delightful.

Synopsis

Welcome to Oldham, CT, a small town rich in Colonial heritage while being utterly contemporary. Situated along the Connecticut River Valley, Oldham bursts with color every fall, as the leaves on its trees evolve into an unmatched palette of scarlet, orange, purple, yellow, and bronze. For more than three decades, the Gold family has been a central part of Oldham in the fall, its Sugar Maple Inn a destination for “leaf-peepers” from all over the country, and its annual Halloween party a stirring way to punctuate the town’s most active month.

But this year, more than just the leaves are changing. With the death of their parents, the Gold siblings, Maria, Maxwell, Deborah, Corrina, and Tyler, have decided to sell the Sugar Maple Inn, and this year’s Halloween party will be the last. As October begins, the Golds contend with the finality that faces them, and the implications it has for a family that has always been so close. For some, it means embracing new challenges and new love. For others, it means taking on unimagined roles. And for others, it means considering the inconceivable. Complicating it all is a series of “hauntings” that touch each of the Gold siblings, a series of benign interventions that will remain a mystery until October draws to a close.

Filled with romance, tension, and unforgettable family drama, Leaves is the first in a series of novels about a world and a family that readers will want to make their own.

My TT this week is from A Pirate Looks at Fifty by Jimmy Buffett at http://wp.me/pZnGI-dJ

    • fuonlyknew says:

Jimmy is the man. Wasted away again in…. He’s a household name here! I can’t believe I haven’t read the book. Have to borrow it from my sister.
      Leaves is wonderful:)

  7. Cool teasers! The first did make me hungry also! Too funny! Lots of love, Emily

  8. Wow, now I’m hooked! First of all, the title…and cover. Fall is my favorite season, and books set in Connecticut are favorites (along with books set in Boston, NYC, etc.). I am an East Coast girl misplaced on the Left Coast…LOL. (I use the term “girl” loosely!).

Seriously, though, I love family drama…and now I’m going over to bookmark this one.

Here’s mine: “HELLO FROM THE GILLESPIES”

    • fuonlyknew says:

I won this book with several others of a similar genre. I meant to just grab a teaser but now I’m into this story. Flows so smoothly and wonderful writing.
The cover for Gillespies is intriguing. It would be a nice painting for my wall:)

  9. Kathy Martin says:

I read the first teaser and really wondered what she was cooking. I’m still baffled. Happy reading!

  11. Great teasers. This sounds like a book I would like

  12. I enjoyed the teasers…and I think this is a great pick given that today is the first day of autumn. The book cover reminds me that it won’t be long before the leaves start changing colors here in the northeast.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  13. Sounds pretty good, this woman clearly enjoys cooking much more than me! Thanks for stopping by my Banned Books teasers!

  14. So many options! That’s why I try to avoid the kitchen as much as I can ha ha! You’ve changed genres for a bit huh? I love the crazy and suspenseful books you feature here still 🙂

  15. Alice Audrey says:

    Sounds like a good read.

  16. Suzie Quint says:

I like both the teasers. It has food in it, so I’d be keen!

    • fuonlyknew says:

There’s a bunch of cozies I have lined up to read and every one has food in it. I’m probably going to put on weight from the delicious recipes that come in the books. LOL

  21. w0rdtrix says:

Have not heard of this one or the author before. I’m glad you are enjoying it. Thanks for visiting!

Nice teaser! I haven’t seen this book around but I’ll definitely check it out 🙂

  25. leslie says:

I like that writing style. Cool Teasers! Thanks for stopping by my TT. Oh, I also loved Divergent more than the Hunger Games. Four is a great read. It’s more abou this Choosing day and how he got to the position he was at when Tris showed up.

  26. Great teasers! This sounds like a perfect read for Fall 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  27. Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace says:

This is not a book I usually read, but the teaser has me intrigued!

    Thanx for visiting my TT
    Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace

  28. pdbkwm says:

I have this strong desire to cook something now, the only problem is that I don’t follow recipes so it’s usually hit and miss with me.

  29. Love the first teaser, I’m a sucker for all things food! This book sounds really cute! Thanks for sharing (:

  30. empeck says:

What great teasers! The one about moving got to me, since I’ve felt that way every time I had to change residences. The longest I’ve ever lived in one house was a decade, so I can’t imagine how hard it would be to leave somewhere I’ve spent a lifetime in.

    Looks like a charming book.

  31. Louisa says:

Seems like someone likes to put food together! Great teasers! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
