I seem to have found my stride again and read a bunch of books and wrote a bunch of reviews. I’m already way ahead for February!

So to pat myself on the back, I spent this week watching the first three seasons of American Horror Story. Have  any of you watched this?

This is one sick, twisted, fantastic series. LOL Just what I love. The fun thing is a lot of the actors play different characters for each season. Jessica Lange rocks in all of them and she plays the bad guy so good.

I’m leaning toward the third season, Coven: Witches, as my favorite. I love the setting of New Orleans and the dark, sultry voodoo aspect. People drop like flies, only to return and sometimes die again. The creative ways they die cracked me up and grossed me out at the same time. It’s not for the weak stomached for sure.

And I’m still trying to decide if any of the witches were truly good aside from the new reigning Supreme.

Have you watched any of them? What did you think?

And about buying books. I knew I probably wouldn’t keep my deal of not buying any books this month. So I made myself a new deal. One book a week and I decided to buy one new book from four different series I’ve been reading. So now I’m browsing, happy as a clam, ready to spend a bit of money.

And I’m always looking for a new series to start. Got any suggestions?

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

  1. Jenna @ Rather Be Reading YA says:

I loved the As the World Dies series! The Snow and the Darkness is free, so I downloaded that one just now.

I watched the first season of American Horror Story but I couldn’t get into the later seasons.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I loved them too. Rhiannon is an awesome writer!
I watched the first three seasons of American Horror but I don’t think I can stomach this years. But I love Jessica Lange and enjoy her playing such a wicked role.

  2. Shandy says:

Looks like you had a good week. Hope this one is great!
    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  3. Emma says:

I loved the first season of American Horror Story. Haunted house stories are my thing. I didn’t fancy season 2 at all. Season 3 with the witches was pretty cool and I watched one episode of Freak Show and couldn’t stomach it. The show is truly sick and disturbing a lot of the time.
Strange Magic is on my reading list. Happy reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, the second season wasn’t as good. I don’t think I can watch Freak Show. But you never know. It took me until season two to watch Walking Dead and I love that show. My all time favorite now! LOL

  4. Lola says:

Yay for being ahead until February already! That’s great! I wish I could get a bit further ahead with my review posts.
I haven’t watched American Horry Story and to be hoenst it sounds a bit too gruesome for me.
Hope you’ll enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m trying to stick with it and keep ahead but are we really ahead. LOL
It is very gruesome but funny too! I’m hesitant about Freak Show though.

  5. Well I’m not a horror fan. I stay way from those movies, tv shows, and books. Never got into it. Great job being ahead for February! I still have a reviews to write myself.

  6. Congrats on finding your mojo and getting some books read and reviewed and being ahead that is always nice! As always I grabbed a couple of those freebies you found..lol. You are bad for my TBR pile..hehe. 🙂

    Enjoy your new reads!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m working hard to stay ahead so I can sit back in February and do some discussion posts and last minute stuff.
So sorry about your TBR. NOT! LOL

  7. katarguelles says:

I’m a big chicken so I haven’t watched American Horror Story but I have heard it’s really good. And I like the idea of each season the story changes but with the same actors.

I can never ban myself from buying books. Instead I banned myself from Starbucks so I can use that money for books lol. I just bring my coffee to work now but I do try to wait for the books to go on sale (unless it’s one of my favorite authors). But I like your plan and I hope you enjoy your new books! Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s fun to see them as different characters. The stories are pretty gruesome yet funny too.
I tried the ban for just this month and will NEVER do that again. LOL

  8. Great week! American Horror Story is a bit too twisted for me but my oldest loves it! I do love a good Netflix binge for a show you’re enjoying. Such fun. I like you decision for a book a week. I’m not great with full out bans either but that sounds workable. Great job with the post scheduling! Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m getting primed for Walking Dead now. Just a couple more weeks!
I tried the buying ban because I usually buy physical copies and the money piles up quickly then. With eBooks I add them to my wish list and wait for them to go on sale or free. Just feels weird to pay a lot for something I can’t hold. LOL

  9. I’ve heard a lot of good things about American Horror Story I just haven’t actually gotten around to watching it yet.

I tried to limit myself to two books this month and it hasn’t worked out well at all! Hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Be prepared when you do watch it. It’s heavy on horror but worth it for the fun stuff.
I tried the ban for this month and had to change it to one a week because I knew I was going to fail. LOL

  10. Christy says:

Yay for getting ahead. I need to do that …

I watched the 2nd and 3rd season of AHS and loved them. I dropped out of this season about 4 episodes in. I don’t know why, it just wasn’t holding my attention.

    Have a great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m getting further ahead and starting to feel lost. LOL
I haven’t watched this season. I’m afraid of it. I don’t want to be sickened and it sounds twisted even for me. Others are saying it’s great though.

  11. I loved the first season of American Horror Story, but I really didn’t care for the second season. I started watching Coven, but our cable company was screwing up the On Demand listed shows, with two episodes missing and one that was a repeat, so I gave up. I am getting Amazon Prime, so I am hoping they have season three to watch. I have not attempted season four for the same reason. If Prime does have them, I will get snacks and binge watch some weekend! I was also on a book buying ban and then I bought two 99¢ books, so then I said nothing more than 99¢, which led to me buying a $7 audiobook last week. Lol. As far as series go, I am really liking The Raven Boys ($1.99 ebook), and everyone tells me the next two books are even better. The fourth book comes out this fall, I think. Thanks for dropping by my blog and for reminding me about Mardi Gras! 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I didn’t care for season two as much either. I caught them on Netflix and just couldn’t stop until I watched every episode. Waiting on Walking Dead now.
I changed my ban from no books to one a week because I failed the first week. LOL

  12. Jan says:

Oh, I don’t like scary stuff so I don’t think American Horror Story is for me! I’ve been trying to limit my book buying, too, but this week Audible had a sale. . .

    • fuonlyknew says:

If you’re not into horror you won’t enjoy the show.
I’ve been hearing a lot from people saying audible sales got em. LOL

  13. Enjoy your books…they are all new to me.

I love Jessica Lange, so I did watch an episode of American Horror Story, but I just didn’t get into the actual story or even the other characters. I guess I should have started at the beginning.

    • fuonlyknew says:

If you started at the beginning you might enjoy it more. But each season they are different characters. I ador Jessica and love her in a horror show!

  14. bluekaren says:

I only watched a few episodes of American Horror Story. I watched the one in an Asylum and meant to check out the Coven one but never did. I watched a bunch of interviews for the Freak Show season, but once again I didn’t watch any of it.
I got The Snow and the Darkness a few weeks ago free. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. You always get so many books. I have to come back and read your upcoming reviews. The Schwarzchild Radius looks really good.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I binge watched them all on Netflix. If I had to wait for each episode I probably would have gave up too. That won’t ever happen with The Walking Dead though!
I don’t download all of the free books I feature. I shop around and try to find a little bit of this and that for everyone. Sometimes I grab a few though!

  15. Dreams says:

Yay for being ahead in February! I’m so jealous right now. I’ve only got 8 posts set and they are memes.

Everyone keeps talking about American Horror Story. Is it really scary or more like a thriller? I kind of want to watch some, but I’m not big on very scary shows.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m sticking with it and should have a more relaxing and fun February now.
The show is a whole lot of horror. But wicked funny too.

  16. alisbooks says:

Happy to hear you’ve hit your stride! The best series I’ve read lately is JLA’s Lux series, if you think the genre might suit you.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yep. I’m back and busy! I have the first book in the Lux series and added it to a reading challenge so I’d finally get started in the series. Everyone seems to love it!

  17. Good plan for the only one book a week!

I reviewed Freak of Nature this week, I found it was an ok read but nothing overly exciting!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m sticking to it too. Made it through the month. Good thing it doesn’t count with my review books though:)
I’ve had Freak of Nature for a while. The mixed reviews make me curious.

  18. high five for getting ahead! and to staying ahead! 😀

  19. You had a busy week! I am running ahead on my blog as well, and it is always nice to have that big cushion, you never know when you might get sick or something. I have heard about that show, but never watched it. I seldom get control of the tv in our house. I didn’t know Rhiannon Frater had a new one out, I need to check that out.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I like being ahead but it took a while to get dedicate and stick with it.
Now that I’ve binged on the show I’m ready for The Walking Dead.
Rhiannon has a few new ones out right now and I grabbed one each week. Her latest will be snatched up in February. I adore her stories!

  20. I haven’t watched much of American Horror Story.I tried watching the first few episodes of the first season but just didn’t get it so I haven’t tried it again sadly. i need to get more post scheduled so that i don’t have as much to do next week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

The only reason I stuck with it was because I didn’t have to wait for a new episode each week. The second season wasn’t as good and I probably would have gave up on it.
I’m still ahead and February should be easier. I’ll have more time for reading. Can’t ever get enough of that!

  21. Great piles of goodies, free and won. Thanks for sharing!!!
    sherry @ fundinmental

  22. I’m working hard on getting ahead for Feb as I love that feeling when I have a comfort buffer of posts. The Snow and the Darkness looks great. And I think one book a week is a great compromise. I’m lifting my book ban this weekend (yes I’m counting the days!) and I think a restricted amount of books like that would work well for me for Feb.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It is nice to be able to relax a bit with being ahead isn’t it? My ban is over this weekend too and I have a book waiting for me to grab it. LOL I might not set a ban for buying in February but will try to keep it closer to one a week. It makes it such fun when I go get one then!

  23. Yay! Freak of Nature was still free, so I grabbed it. I’m also going to be reviewing They Call Me Crazy (which I quite enjoyed). Excellent book haul!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I already had Freak of Nature but haven’t read it yet. I’ll watch for your review. I don’t read them until mine is published but will be sure to stop by. My review goes up Thursday. I enjoyed it too. Such atmosphere.

  24. Interesting Times and The Winter Sea both look good. Looks like you got plenty to keep you busy. 🙂 I haven’t watched that series, but good to hear you’re enjoying it. Thanks for stopping by!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I found so many new and exciting books this week. The review books were too good to resist. LOL
Done with the show and waiting for The Walking Dead now.

  25. Lots of new books there! The Avery Aames cozy looks cute. I have Freak of Nature somewhere, but heaven alone knows when I’ll get to it.

And congratulations on being in good shape with February’s reviews! I am so behind. I need to get a bunch of reviews written, and while I’m enjoying reading, I’m feeling a little burnt-out on the reviewing front.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I just reviewed Avery’s cozy. Such fun. I do love my cozy mysteries. I think I’m addicted to them and there a bunch out there.
I’ve gotten ahead on my reviews and now plan to do some spur of the moment fun posts. It feels good. But I’ve also taken it a new batch of review books and will be writing like mad again soon. LOL

  26. Naomi Hop says:

No… haven’t watched American Horror Story. you have a huge haul… enjoy!
