Well, I did it. I broke down and bought my first Christmas ornament! LOL I was shopping for some new Halloween ones and right next to them was a bunch of Christmas stuff. And I wasn’t the only one. Another lady grabbed some too. We looked at each other and laughed. Nothing needed to be said.

I had a three day weekend so I spent much of it cleaning. Degreasing everything in the kitchen is so much fun, right! It sure sparkles now, though. Now for the inside of those cupboards.

I also managed to get in some reading. Always time for that. Just finished The Kept Woman by Karin Slaughter. What a ‘twist’ that story was. Now I’m reading Hard Core Law by Angi Morgan. I know. I went from a thriller to some hunky Texas Rangers.

And I finished Lizzie Borden: Zombie Hunter. It was really good. So, I had to click on Netflix and watch the Lizzie series again. I think I need to read a cozy or a fun children’s book and clear my head now. How about you? Do you sometimes choose a different genre as your next read, just to give you’re imagination something new?

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday Posts so be sure to leave me your link.

So, what did you get to read this week?

Got any recommendations?

I’d love to know and thanks so much for visiting fuonlyknew.

  1. Great haul! I often change books genres after I have read a lot of a certain genre as I don’t want to get in a book slump. It’s nice some times to go from dark to light to give your brain a break. 🙂

  2. It sounds like you had an okay week! I’ll be spending most of today cleaning too, sadly. Enjoy your new books!

    Here’s my Weekly Recap!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m making progress. I just need to remind myself to clean one area at a time so it doesn’t seem so overwhelming. LOL

  3. Emma says:

I can’t even think of Halloween yet, never mind Christmas. Time is just flying by too quickly as it is!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know! I was pulling out my fall decorations and there was some Christmas ones right next to them. It seems fall and Halloween are almost skipped over and go direct to Christmas in the stores.

  4. I need to check out the Coffee Girl…for obvious reasons. LOL I really need to clean, I have felt overwhelmingly busy the past couple of weeks and need to find my center. Ha, nothing wrong with buying an ornament..hehe Have a wonderful week!

  5. Kitchens can be surprisingly dirty! The man replaced the overhead lights in the kitchen, and now that all four work at the same time, he was seeing the kitchen in a whole new light!

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL I did that once too. Now I try to not let it go so long between deep cleans! I think cleaning the fan above the stove is the worst part.

  6. Greg Hill says:

That’s funny about the ornament. Ha ha and I saw The Kept Woman on another blog just in the last day or two- sounds suspenseful.

Tangled Up In Brew looks fun. And The Bridge- is that *gasp* set on Mackinac Island? Looks like it! I may need to get that one!

  7. Yes, I do read palate cleansers! I will be reading one soon because I am reading about a horrendous murder right now. Yikes! I know a lot of readers pick up fluffy romances, but I go for funny MGs usually. I will be dropping back around for your review of The Madonna Of Notre Dame. It looks interesting. I have been on a cleaning jag, too. I wonder if it is the change of seasons? Have a stellar new week. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I find switching genres keeps reading fresh for me. And those lighter ones let me relax and just go with the flow. Yeah, spring and fall cleaning:)

  8. It’s far too soon for me to be thinking about Christmas ornaments! 🙂

  9. I HATE degreasing cupboards!! That is the worst. I have so many pins on Pinterest on how to do it, though. More power to ya, girl!!!

I can’t believe you succumbed to Christmas already… *shakes head* What are we going to do with you? Funny story, though!

    Have a great week!!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It does seem that you need to do research to see what works best for you and your kitchen. I know. I caved! It was such a sparkly, cute ornament. LOL

  10. Deborah says:

I love that you always share freebies! Such a good idea! I’m glad you enjoyed The Kept Woman – I almost always love her books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I have such fun browsing for the freebies. I do pretty good at not grabbing all of them too. LOL I’ve been reading Karin’s books for years. Always excited to read a new one. Have you read Cold, Cold Heart yet?

  11. My mom actually bought our Christmas tree two weeks ago haha We’ve had the same tree for more than 9 years and it was still in perfect condition, but it was way too big and decorating it took a whole day. We went to Sam’s and found the cutest tree ever and it was being sold out quickly so we got it just in time.
The Coffee Girl looks so interesting! I’m definitely going to check it out.
    Happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I absolutely love huge Christmas trees. I just don’t have the room anymore either. I usually wait until after Christmas and grab larger items when they are marked down. It’s like Christmas when you get your stuff out and find those new ones. LOL Type in The Coffee Girl and there is another cute book that’s free with the same title.

  12. Stop talking about Christmas!

  13. Heidi says:

I totally went on a cleaning tear awhile back. I got my house in tip top shape, but with two kids, it doesn’t stay that way for long. I spent all day yesterday working on my kid’s and my nieces’ annual Christmas ornaments. Glad it is done, so you aren’t the only one getting your holiday spirit.
