Something new happened this week! Got my first taste of fall! I know. It’s pretty sad when the weather gets me excited. LOL

I mentioned last week that I was going to watch Conjuring 2. I did and I loved it. It was a bit slow in the beginning, then it cranked up. It takes a lot to scare me. There’s a scene with something in a wall that so creeped me out. I swear, the hairs were standing up on my body. LOL

Guess what day it is!!! It’s time for all new episodes of The Walking Dead! I’m so excited and so scared to see the beginning. Last season left us with Negan beating one of the group to death with his bat, Lucille. Tonight we find out who it was. I’m so freaked out. It better not me Daryl. Or Rick. Or Carl. Or……Well, anybody. Sadly, it’s one of them. Are you going to watch it?

You may have noticed I’ve been sharing a lot of giveaway tour posts recently. As the holidays draw near, I tend to spend more time with other things and less time on my blog so I take in less review books. I’m sure you all do too. Don’t want to miss time with friends and family! I’ll be reviewing some of the books later, but wanted to share them with you now.

As such, I wanted to direct you HERE to check out all of the giveaways.

And make sure you go HERE or click on the banner below to check out the 2016 Spooktacular Giveaway Hop. I’m offering a print copy of winner’s choice from Amazon and there are over 100 other blogs offering their own fun giveaways! You’ll have a chance at great prizes and discover new blogs!

New books on my shelf. Some I won, some are for review, and some I just had to have.

I just bought one new book this week. Tia Reed’s The Grotesques sure fits my horror criteria. And it’s got gargoyles. It’s hard to find stories featuring them, and these are the kind I like. Not sexy shifters, but deadly beasts. Click on the cover to check it out!

So, what did you get to read this week?

Got any recommendations?

I’d love to know and thanks so much for visiting fuonlyknew.

Comments
  1. Well damn, if it takes a lot to scare you and even you were creeped out, then I will definitely not be watching that movie ever, haha. I’m still trying to figure out what to do with my blog for the holiday season though. I have plenty of posts finished already, so I *could* have posts going up even if I’m busier than usual, but I don’t know if other people will be reading blogs as much. Decisions, decisions. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yep, I actually jumped a few times. LOL That says a lot. I think what really got me about the movie was that you expected something to happen and it didn’t. They didn’t do the usual, so when something happened it was a big boo! I’m going to use the next two months to try and work more on my TBR reviews. I have a bunch written and will be adding more. They haunt me. LOL

  2. Deborah says:

I love a good suspense novel (or movie I guess) but hate anything that ventures into horror so I’d struggle with that movie. And some of your book covers even creep me out. It IS that time of year though isn’t it! Have a lovely week!

  3. Greg Hill says:

Ha ha no doubt about the weather! It’s starting to feel fall- ish around here too, the furnace is now on because it got coldddd……lol

Hard to believe the Walking Dead premiere is here. It better not be rick or Daryl (we know it’s not rick, but still). I think I know who it is ha ha but who knows? I’m not liking the whole Negan thing though, they were jsut starting to get it together and now they’re down again lol.

Grilled and Seasoned with Murder looks like it would make me hungry! And Unfinished Business and ohh Below both look fun. I like anything w/ underwater monsters.

    • fuonlyknew says:

No heat on here yet. In fact, the Ac is still running sometimes. LOL I usually don’t need the heat on until the new year rolls around. I think I just figured out who dies too. Stop back by and let me know if you got it right! And from the way it all went down, I feel Rick out them where they ended up. Doesn’t mean I want him dead though.
I love underwater beasties too. Have you read the Meg series by Steve Alten. They are fantastic! And the movie is coming out next year with a great cast!

  4. YAY for fall!! I think getting excited over the weather is all good (maybe because I do the same thing!).
I can’t really watch horror movies anymore – I don’t know what it is, but ever since I got children, I just get so freaked out I can’t even sleep… It’s sad, really, because I used to love everything horror.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading xoxo

    • fuonlyknew says:

I got to open my windows this morning. Too breezy yesterday. What I love most about fall is how deeply blue the sky is. No haze from humidity. It’s just beautiful!
I’m lucky that my son likes horror too. Got someone to watch them with me.

  5. I get excited about the weather too! It’s completely normal πŸ˜› There are some gorgeous covers in your haul!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I spent some time this weekend pulling out the winter clothes and washing them. I don’t have a lot, as it doesn’t get real cold here and winter isn’t too long. But it’s fun to snuggle up:)

  6. It’s YEARS and YEARS since I read The Beast House! I always felt this should’ve been made into a few films or a series or something because the idea was so good. The only horror films that really freak me out are Demons and Demons 2. I cannot watch Demons 2 at all now and it’s such a good scary film!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The new cover art tricked me. I thought It was one I hadn’t read. I read it again anyway and I agree. It would be great on the screen! I have both of those movies on VHS. Can’t bear to throw them out. LOL

  7. The cover to Deadly Woman is perfection! The Spooktacular Blog Hop sounds great. I am glad you are getting a taste of fall finally. I had to turn our heat on last night because it went down into the 20s! Have a wonderful week. πŸ™‚

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. Wicked cover art. I kept peering at it to see what it revealed. The cooler weather is so nice. Just wish it wouldn’t get colder so I could still get in the pool!

  8. I think you are definitely ready for the spooky/scary season. I don’t like a lot of scariness, especially horror; but a little suspense keeps me going.

    I’m curious about Russian Hill.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I enjoy scary. Just not in real life. LOL I only grabbed 2 of the freebies and Russian Hill was one of them. I bet my sister grabs it too!

  9. Lots of scary books there for the season that’s in it. I love the look of 21 dares, looks more scary than downright horror which I hate.

  10. sjhigbee says:

Glad you’re enjoying all this horror – I’m looking forward to reading your review of Witches this coming week as I love the cover and it looks intriguing. In the meantime, don’t frighten yourself too much and continue to enjoy the cool weather – I’ve got the heating turned on and am still clinging onto the dying embers of autumn and dreading winter… Have a great week!

  11. yvonne473 says:

All those books look so good! Yes, I’ll be watching The Walking Dead. I don’t want anyone to be dead, but it looks like it will be someone major. I’m scared!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m scared too. It’s funny that I had to be dragged into the series and now I can’t stay away from it and care about the characters so much.

  12. Toady says:

I am excited about the new Walking Dead. What a cliffhanger from last season! I review less (don’t review very much anyway) during the holiday season. It’s good that you do other things that you enjoy. Off to check out one of your reviews that caught my eye.

  13. I’m not much for watching horror and I’ve only recently started reading it, so I’ll pass on Conjuring 1 or 2. lol Fall finally hit us here in NC. Cooler weather and falling leaves. And acorns. For such small things they sure do make a ton of noise. Yeesh! I don’t watch TWD, but I know tons of people who do. I do know what happened in the graphic novels though. Not that the show follows them. LOL

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, you’ll want to avoid the Conjuring movies and TWD if you don’t watch horor. They are pretty scary and TWD is very graphic. I had the windows open today and had to shut them because the AC kicked on. Not complaining though:)

  14. I was just talking about The Walking Dead! I’ve never watched it so now everyone’s so anxious about it and I have – once again – no idea what is happening.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m watching last season right now and dreading that final episode. Not as much as this season’s opener though!

  15. Lily B says:

heh I love fall, it’s been SOO nice this year year I am very excited. Oh props to you for being able to watch scary movies o.o I can read scary books – sort off- but movies? I probably wont be able to sleep at night.

  16. You must have a super high threshold for terror and horror. YOU’RE the reason why the shows and movies are getting worse and worse these days πŸ˜‰ tee, hee What ever happened to creepy movies like Something Wicked This Way Comes – ya know, subtle.. πŸ™‚

    Happy Fall!!!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I don’t go for the slashers! And some of my favorite scary movies are the old black and white ones where they rely on shadows and settings to build the fear. I do love some of the newer movies though. The CG effects can scare the crap out of you. LOL

  17. So wanted to watch Conjuring 2 too! Tis the season to get spooked!

Happy reading and have a great week ahead!

  18. I hate jump scares as even if I know they are coming they still get me! I haven’t watch the second one yet but I want too, so I am glad it’s good.

I put three of the books you are reviewing next week on my wishlist to see what you think of them before I decide to purchase. πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to see your reviews! πŸ™‚

    Have a great week!
    Stormi

  19. Shandy Jo says:

I haven’t seen any of the Conjuring movies, but I saw the episode of The Haunting that interviewed the family it was based on which was pretty interesting. Thanks for the freebies, I’ll be checking out several. πŸ™‚

  20. Roberta says:

You have some incredible giveaways! The number of books you read and blog about are inspiring.

  21. Ugh, I’m SO behind on The Walking Dead! I hope you enjoy finding out who it was!

    Here’s my Weekly Recap!

  22. I know what you mean about backing off, but I don’t seem to be able to stop myself with the one clicks. LOL
sherry @ fundinmental My Sunday Memes

  23. I really liked The Conjuring 2 as well. I almost thought it was better than the first in some ways – now Annabelle – that was a whole different story. You grabbed some great books this week. I’m almost through with Witches and am looking forward to our first 4 people Tag Team review later this week. I grabbed some of the same free books and I love gargoyles so I may have to look into The Grotesques.

  24. buffywnabe says:

Below is one I’ve been looking at. And I’ve read and liked Extinct! Great books this week! And I’m like you, I’m so excited to finally have fall weather! Thanks for stopping by Lisa Loves Literature’s Sunday Post earlier.

    • fuonlyknew says:

We sure like the same kind of stories! I found Below at a local used book store. I find a lot of good books there!

  25. What a great book haul! I hope you enjoy them all!

I also hosted for the Spells and Sorcery tour! I did a review stop and I enjoyed the book. It was lighthearted and fun and an entertaining read.

I have never watched TWD but I have some friends who are serious fans and I’ve been promising them I will check it out. One day when I’m caught up on my TV watching πŸ™‚

Hope you have a great week!

  26. atothewr says:

I’m out after this episode of The Walking Dead. It was just too far for me and you know the kind of stuff I write and watch. This was just excessive and on TV. What would happen if a kid was flipping by at that hour? Just saying. Have a great week.

  27. Got My Book says:

I don’t do horror, or even just scary, so October isn’t my favorite month. But I do like the trend of all the “cozier” books with traditional Halloween characters.

  28. I’m behind on The Walking Dead by at least a season. I really need to catch up because I LOVE that show!

  29. Lola says:

I think fall weather is a good reason to get excited :). I hope you enjoyed the episode of the Walking Dead, I don’t like zombies and don’t follow the show myself, but I have heard some things about it.
I like how you list all your giveaways on one page, seems like a neat way to list them all and easy for followers to see them all. I think i got some of those cozy free books you listed. I hope you’re having a great week!

  30. I’m glad you enjoyed The Conjuring! But that’s a movie I won’t ever watch lol I don’t watch The Walking Dead (only saw seasons 1-3) but I saw a video of fans reacting to a few of the scenes and I was laughing but crying at the same time. That was so brutal. Then again, Game of Thrones is worse haha
