Welcome to The Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice.
This is a really fun meme!
The only rules are to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader and find a sentence or a few (no spoilers) that grabs you and post it.
Then go over to Freda’s Voice and leave your link so we can visit your 56!
My 56 for this week is from:
Grudging
Birth Of Saints #1
by Michelle Hauck
Genre: Fantasy
From Page 56 in the paperback.
He’s picked Sancha out as a colt when he’d first begun his apprenticeship with the peleton. Or perhaps Sancha had picked him. Whichever the case, only death would part them now.

Read on if you want to know more.
Synopsis
A world of chivalry and witchcraft…and the invaders who would destroy everything.
The North has invaded, bringing a cruel religion and no mercy. The ciudades-estados who have stood in their way have been razed to nothing, and now the horde is before the gates of Colina Hermosa…demanding blood.
On a mission of desperation, a small group escapes the besieged city in search of the one thing that might stem the tide of Northerners: the witches of the southern swamps.
The Women of the Song.
But when tragedy strikes their negotiations, all that is left is a single untried knight and a witch who has never given voice to her power. And time is running out.
A lyrical tale of honor and magic, Grudging is the opening salvo in the Book of Saints trilogy.

It’s different and I’m trying to read more of that:)
This sounds interesting, though I’m not sure I’d like it myself–still, here’s hoping you enjoy the rest of the read!
Thank you so much for sharing! Here’s my Friday 56, if you’re interested in checking it out–no worries or pressure if you’re not, though! Either way, happy book-ing to you in the near future…and happy Friday! <3
I used to read this genre a lot. Got away from it for some reason and glad to try it again.
Intense! Hope you love it. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
I’m not that far in yet, but enjoying it so far:)

I’ll let you know when my review is ready:)
Great 56. Looks good.
Thanks. This one is a little different from my usual reading and looking forward to it.
I am pretty intrigued about the time period of your book. It seems like it one I know little about. Hope you like it.
I enjoy watching movies in this time period and happy to reading about it some more too.
I always appreciate the bond between a person and their animal. Happy weekend!
So do I. And this breed of horse is fascinating. All of them are gray in color. Similar to Lippazaner’s being white.
I agree with Alice, there’s something special between a person and their animal.

And I love horses, so this is extra fun.
Love it. 🙂 Happy weekend!
A man and his noble steed! Gotta love that:)
This sounds like an interesting book…I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for visiting my 56 yesterday.
It’s starting to grab me now. About a third of the way into it.
I really liked book two – I’ll have to try number one. 🙂

You sound like me! I often jump into a series willy nilly and go back to read the ones I’ve missed. LOL
