Some chit chat.

It’s been hectic around here recently. I just got hired to a new job and going through the orientation and training process. I’m excited and still a bit nervous until things feel more comfortable. I do like my co-workers and the position I got. It’s taking up more of my time so I’m sorry if I’ve been somewhat absent with visiting and commenting. Things will settle down shortly and I’ll be back on my game!

I did manage to read a few more books and finished watching Gilmore Girls and The Umbrella Academy. And I watched a favorite romance movie, The Notebook. I cried and cried. Such a wonderful story.

Why do I love books and movies that make me cry? Crying, the really deep down kind, is actually physically painful for me. It’s like I try so hard not to cry that it hurts. I was thinking about this and the different ways I cry. There’s the nostalgic, my eyes water a bit. There’s the slow building, my face gets warm, my chest gets tight, and the tears well up and overflow. Then there’s the real thing. I feel like I can’t breathe, the tears pour down my face, and my nose runs before sobs burst out. To think that this can be evoked by a powerful story, whether read or watched, is amazing! Do you love it when a story makes you cry?

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

That’s such a great point, the differences in emotion relating to crying- I do tear up occasionally when something moves me, but the full body, end of the world crying lol that only happens rarely- it’s amazing to me how deeply we can feel that it does that to us, Pretty wild.

I like your mix of scary looking and cozier looking stuff. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

What gets wild is when I actually sob. It sneaks up on me and forces itself out. My reading is all over the place at the moment. Children’s books, cozies, urban fantasy and horror. And some romance thrown in:)

  2. Congrats on the new job! I love Gilmore Girls, and your new books are tempting. Thanks for sharing, and have a great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks. It was time for a change as my last job was very physical and I’m not getting any younger. LOL

  3. A new job!! Congrats!!! I’m really happy to hear you like the people there. What’s the new job then? I’m really curious 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I plan to do a post about my new job once I get past the orientation and training. All will be revealed! LOL I think it will be a surprise for y’all.

  4. Congrats on the new job! I do love when a book makes me cry, the most recent culprit was The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. I’m not a crier in real life, I wish I was as it’s a great way of releasing emotions. But at least I can release some pent up grief when watching a sad film or reading a sad book.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thank you! I’m enjoying the change in jobs. I don’t cry much in real life. Usually it s because I am very angry and I try not to go there:) That’s why it surprises me when I cry over books and movies!

  5. Congratulations on the new job. Only a few movies and books have made the real cry for me. For sure read some books that made my eyes watering a bit. Have a great week.

  6. Funny I was signed in under WordPress.

  7. lindytgomez says:

I love The Notebook and have wanted to see The Umbrella Academy! Was it good? The Secret Life of Horror Movies looks interesting! I love scary movies!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The Umbrella Academy hooked me from the start. Now the wait begins for the next season. LOL And I too love scary movies so the book should be fun!

  8. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

Notebook never fails to make me cry. Good movies always make me cry though I rarely cry when it comes to books. And kudos on your new job. I hope you have a great week ahead.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Some scenes in books are so strongly written and visual that I can’t not cry. I love when an author can do that! Thanks. My new job is so much easier than my old one and I enjoy it:)

  9. ericarobyn says:

Oooh! The Secret Life of Horror Movies looks awesome!! Enjoy!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Doesn’t it! It was free on Amazon when I came across it. Might still be. Click on the cover to check if you’re interested:)

  10. Beware Of The Reader says:

Ooh Laura I didn’t know you got a new job! Congrats! And don’t stress about blog hopping my weeks are hectic right now and I often come back home very late and so exhausted that I struggle blog hopping or replying to comments too! Now yes I love crying. Not for something in real life (because that usually means bad news and no one likes bad news) but watching a movie, reading a book or even listening to music. I feel calmer after 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

Once I get settled into my job and quit being nervous about it, things will quickly become routine and I can focus easily again. It happened so quickly. I submitted my application on line Tuesday night and got called in for an interview Wednesday morning. They offered me the job then! The struggle is doing training and working out the notice at my old job. They both work around the scheduling and that helps. I could have waited to start, but figured I wouldn’t be without a paycheck if I tried to do both. LOL

  11. I’ve got a ton of Jeff Strand books that I need to get reading! This is one of the books lurking on my e-reader! Good luck with the new job!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I had my eye on another of his books but then I spotted this one. I thought it sounded good and there’s a second book if I enjoy Wolf Hunt. And I think you might enjoy some of these characters!

  12. Tammy says:

Good luck with you’re new job! I love to cry too, I notice if I go a long time without crying I start to feel stressed. It really is cathartic and makes me feel mentally stable after I cry😁 Plus when a book makes me cry it’s really rare and I almost always give those books 5 stars!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thank you:) I do feel better after a good cry too. And if an author can make me cry, it says something good about their writing!

  13. The Secret Life of Horror Movies looks fun! Glad you’re enjoying your new job. It can take it out of you when you’re just learning the ropes, but it will soon become second nature for you!

I’ve been quiet too, sorry about that. Poorly dog. I’ve been trying to fulfil all my work obligations first, and not had time for much blogging – then I caught up with all my missed posts in one day lol Such is life. Hope you’re having a restful weekend xx

    • fuonlyknew says:

I thought the book would be fun. Hope to get to it soon. I’m sure things will become routine in the new job fairly quickly. It’s not hard and I enjoy it.

  14. Congrats on your new job. Good luck!

I actually don’t like movies that make me cry or if they’re too depressing. I tend to stay away from those.

Hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thank you. I’m enjoying it. Sometimes a small scene can catch me unprepared and make me cry. I don’t think I could take a book or movie that made me cry the entire way through. I’d need some laughs:)

  15. I never saw the notebook, I am not a fan of movies that make me cry.
Congrats on the job! I am sure it will be crazy but so exciting! 🙂

I hope this week is awesome for you Laura! Happy Reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The Notebook made me laugh and cry. Such a tender story. And thanks, The new job is going well and I’m happy I got it!

  16. Interesting points about crying. I also like books and movie that make me cry, it’s because they leave huge emotional impact on me.
Don’t stress yourself too much about lacking when it comes to visiting blogs and leaving comments. You will get back to usual, it is normal to be behind sometimes…

    • fuonlyknew says:

An emotional impact. That’s what I meant! If a story can make me feel, I don’t forget it:) I’m already getting to know a lot about my job duties so I see myself settling back into my routine soon. Thanks:)

  17. Congrats on the new job. I get nervous when starting something new too. Until the newness and insecurity wears off I’m usually kind of a mess.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s funny that I’m nervous on the way to the job, but not once I walk in. I guess I’m in focus mode then. LOL

  18. I hope the new job is great for you! Don’t worry we will be here and understand. We all have various things which eat up time periodically.

Yay for new books! I love the Notebook; I cry every time. I prefer books which make me feel ALL kinds of emotions. There’s both happy and sad tears, as well as fury and excitement, lust and love.

    Here is my Sunday Post

    • fuonlyknew says:

I always feel like I’m missing something when I’m not visible on the internet. LOL I love books that make me feel a wide range of emotions. I’m kind of partial to those scary ones. LOL If an author can scare me, they have real accomplished something.

  19. Congrats on the new job! I’m not sure that I have emotions, so I’ve never read a book or seen a movie that made me cry. I hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thank you:) I never used to feel a movie or book as much as I do now. Could be I’m reading so many genre besides horror now too.

  20. Oooo good luck on your new job, that’s exciting! Surprisingly I can’t cry when it comes to books that I read – I’ll feel the urge to cry, but no tears will come out no matter how powerful it is. I love it when books do that though, I tend to remember those for years after because of the powerful emotions that it evokes from me.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks! I sometimes cry unexpectedly. It sneaks up on me. I remember those stories long afterwards too:)

  21. I need to grab Mosquito Man. I’ve had my eyes on it and forgot it came out. Great news on the new job!

  22. No, I prefer humor and wit, but that’s just me. I’m sure crying through books is satisfying to you in the same way!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I like to laugh, to cry, to fear and to get outraged. If an author can evoke a strong emotion out of me, they have done their job very well:)

  23. That is so true about the crying. Congrats on the new job it can be nerve-wracking and exciting all at the same time!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I need to be careful when reading or watching a tear jerker at night. My eyes can look a wreck the next morning otherwise. LOL

  24. Heidi says:

Yeah for a new job. I am sure you will be settled in soon. I agree about crying. The Notebook is one of those that makes me cry. So good and so sad!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I don’t cry easily so it means something when an author can bring me to tears:) And my job is fun and I’ve already picked up most of it:)

  25. So many fantastic new books for you to read! Those cozies look fantastic. Happy reading! 🙂

  26. Yvonne says:

Congrats on the new job! I just started a new one in February. Starting is always nerve wracking, but I’m sure you will do great. Good luck!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m still a bit nervous until I’ve handled all of my duties while working alone but I’m liking it!

  27. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

I hope you’re enjoying your new job!!

  28. oooh a new job is always scary and fun at the same time! I hope you settle in well… I am always surprised by the books that make me cry… It’s rarely the ones I expect and at moments that just ring so true! ❤️

    • fuonlyknew says:

I am settling in. Thanks:) I too get surprised by some of the books that make me cry. I’m not expecting it and then the tears are flowing.

  29. Congrats on the new job, I hope it goes well!

  30. Congrats on the new job. I hope things settle down for you really soon. They say it is really good for you to cry, but I’m the same way and try really hard not to and it does get painful sometimes. Good luck with that.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m learning and having fun. It was hard to leave my other job. I’d been there 15 years, but it was time.

  31. Congratulations on the new job and that’s great that you like your coworkers. The adjustment period is always a bit of a challenge but it sounds like it’s going to be great! I’m the opposite on books/movies that make me cry. I try and avoid that as much as possible. Hope you’re having a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks! I’m starting to get the hang of things:) Crying isn’t something I plan on. Sometimes a scene is so powerful, it just happens. Those stories I always remember.

  32. Congrats on the new job!
I really need to give The Umbrella Academy a watch.
Hope you’re having a good week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thank you. I ended up really liking The Umbrella Academy. Excited to see what happens as they left me hanging, of course. LOL

  33. Stormi D Johnson says:

Congrats on the new job! Hope you enjoy it! I am total opposite of you I try and stay away from any book or movie I think might make me ugly cry!! 🙂
