This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Some chit chat.

I hope you all had a safe and fun 4th Of July! I had to work so nothing fun for me. Used to be, my dog would be hiding in the closet for several days. Everyone sets off fireworks for days and he’d be so scared. Now he’s deaf and doesn’t hear them so he usually sleeps right through it. I wish I could. LOL

Been raining a lot here so not much time for the pool. Instead, I’ve been taking some little naps, catching up on shows and enjoying some good books. I finished watching the Harry Potter series and now I’m back to watching Dexter. Such a fun and twisted show!

Stay safe and take care everyone.

I feel your pain regarding fireworks – November is the miserable time for us, seeing as Bonfire Night is on the 5th and for weeks running up to it, it sounds like WWII… Glad your dog is no longer distressed, though! I hope the coming week is less busy and you are able to have more pool time:))

    • fuonlyknew says:

The neighbors went all out and I was able to enjoy some amazing fireworks from my front porch. It’s those ones that go off into the wee hours that get to me. LOL

  2. Tammy says:

I love Dexter! I need to do a rewatch some day. We had so many illegal fireworks in our neighborhood it was awful. And I know tonight will be just as bad, people can’t seem to stop. Hope you have a good week, Laura😁

    • fuonlyknew says:

The city cancelled our fireworks show but that didn’t stop people from doing their own. At least we’d had lots of rain so didn’t have to worry much about fires.

  3. Katherine says:

I had to laugh about your dog not being scared of fireworks anymore. Growing up we had a dog that barked at everything and it was kind of a blessing when he started losing his hearing. I hope you have a great week.

I loved Dexter. It’s a great show. Hope you enjoy it and have a great week!

  5. Our dog hears the fireworks and doesn’t seem to care. It wasn’t too bad here though. I think since we don’t pay attention to them, she doesn’t, taking her cues from us. I hope you get more relaxing time ahead. I enjoyed Dexter. Enjoy your week!

He never used to be bothered by fireworks until our other dog started freaking out. Guess he took his cues from her.

  6. My dogs hate the fireworks. I wish it would rain here-its hot and dry!! I also have been hounding my husband about a pool!!

  7. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

That’s so bad you had to work Laura! And my dog fears fireworks too! Today I was too busy and now too tired to write my Sunday post..

  8. Dexter rocked! Yes, the fireworks are a struggle. People that set them off a week before and a week after when it’s illegal drive me crazy. We did some for an hour on Friday and Sat for the Royals since we didn’t want to deal with crowds.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Dexter is such twisted fun. I must have been pretty tired as I didn’t get woken up once I fell asleep. They’ve been doing fireworks for a few days and I expect more tonight.

  9. My dog is terrified of fireworks, which is strange because the neighbors have been setting them off all summer for her entire life. You’d think she’d be used to it, but she’s not very smart. Have a great week!

  10. Greg says:

The fireworks were crazy here last night! I like fireworks as much as the next person but man it was like a war zone lol. I do feel bad for the animals that get scared. Hope you had a good 4th! 🙂

  11. glad to hear you and cole had a good fourth. got some good looking books

  12. I’ve tried to watch Dexter but never got very far with it, just wasn’t for me I guess.

Wishing you a great reading week

  13. Aw bless him! That’s one advantage to your dog going deaf, lol.
Hope you have a good week!

  14. Some wonderful looking books here and man, the fireworks were crazy here. Luckily the pup doesn’t care and Cassius looks more annoyed than terrified. I wish people would finally wisen up and stop letting them off so much. I feel so badly for the Veteran’s as well.

  15. Stormi D Johnson says:

With my poor dog being so afraid I really hate fireworks now! Wish we could have a little of your rain, not much but a little…lol. Hope you get some pool time soon!

    Have a great week!
    Stormi

  16. I do love when it rains and I can read without feeling guilty. I hope that you have a wonderful week. 🙂

  17. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

I enjoyed Dexter from beginning to end. 🙂

  18. I wanted to love Unexpected World but it didn’t really deliver for me. It’s a pity as the series has such great covers! I just found it far fetched even for apocalypse fiction. I hope you have a better time with it!
