Reviews:

“Shoot Down the Stars was an emotionally raw story about finding yourself and allowing yourself to be loved the way you deserve. The level of realness was heartbreaking, the characters went through so many struggles, yet by the end, I was left with a smile on my face. —Charity B. Author of Skeleton King

“I never knew I was capable of love, hate, distress and gut wrenching sadness
at the same time until I read this book. Proceed with caution.”—Beth H.

“I literally loved and hated every character at some point in the book.
The emotional impact is just amazing.”—Author R.N Gosser

Excerpt:

I shrug toward David and brush my dark red hair over my shoulder, holding it back with my hand. I
lean down to inhale another line of powder into my sinuses so it can light the fire within my brain. To clear the drugs from my nostril, I sit up, sniff, and wipe my nose. White residue clings to my thumb and forefinger.

David and I sit across from each other. The case rests between us like a Ouija board, but the
only phantoms we are invoking are our own. I push it out of the way and scoot toward him. My legs are made of lead. I’m heavy and somehow weightless at the same time. I’m floating, but my body descends through whatever it touches.

I sit next to him, sinking into the wall and through the bed. He puts his hand over mine, and our
fingers intertwine. I lean my head on his shoulder. He sighs and turns his face until our lips are nearly touching. There’s a thread that draws me closer to him, but it’s always severed just before anything happens. I slip back down to reality.

“This feels good, Emily.”

“I know, doesn’t it?”

I smile up at him and sit back to enjoy the utter blankness within my mind. It is blanketed, dark,
and perfect. Despite the darkness, there’s a tiny flicker of light—a sensibility to know that numbing myself is not a good coping mechanism. But even so, what’s the worst that can happen?

About Lauren Biel:

Lauren Biel is an up-and-coming author who loves to write angsty emotion romances, Traumances if you will. When she’s not working, she’s writing. When she’s not writing, she’s spending time with her husband, her friends, or her pets. You might also find
her on a horseback trail ride or sitting beside a waterfall in Upstate New York. She has a pretty normal life, yet her stories are anything but normal.

Lauren’s stories are often emotionally raw, with lots of twists and turns. She describes her writing
as “where light meets dark”, which represents how her witty humor compliments the darkness in every story. Instead of trying to mold her writing to fit in a
box, she chooses to be unapologetically herself. Genre is no constraint for her, ranging from new age, to post-apocalyptic, and even paranormal. And everything in between! The common theme in every book is finding love when you least expect it. She enjoys putting her characters through tribulations, allowing their triumphs to be that much more poignant. Make sure you have your
seatbelts secured. It’s always a bumpy ride.
