A Cure For Spring Fever

,

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Synopsis

For centuries, Gamekeepers have used their magical abilities to create a buffer between the creatures who dwell in the enchanted forest and the sleepy coastal town that sits in its shadow. When Gamekeeper Stan Ross’s magic begins to fail, he must find out what went wrong, then fix it before the two worlds collide. His hit or miss magic has already led to a few close calls so he journeys to the Sacred Isle searching for answers and advice. Finding a cure proves elusive—until Stan encounters a kitchen witch who captivates him body and soul. Lynnette Peters is healing from her own wounds, however, and it isn’t clear whether she’s ready to open herself to the possibility—or the peril—of love.

Enjoy this peek inside:

Looking down at his hands and flexing the fingers a couple of times, he said, “I’m a gamekeeper, so if my magic falters, mystical creatures may escape their game preserves, endangering themselves and the general public. I don’t want to be responsible for someone getting hurt.”

“I understand.” Her rich and sympathetic voice made Stan feel as if she really did understand, and this encouraged him to continue.

“My magic is elemental, but after my visit yesterday we figured out that there isn’t any particular element that’s the problem. It’s more like the whole motor’s shot than a specific spark plug that isn’t firing.”

“A good analogy,” she said. “The elemental forces exist as part of nature, in balance with the greater whole. Sometimes, there is a disconnection with the natural world at the root of a problem such as yours, and the only solution is to reconnect, holistically, with natural cycles,

forces and elements. There is no simple fix. You need to re-establish your connection to nature before you can tap into a particular element at will.”

Stan nodded, but inside, he was thinking it sounded like a tall order. How was he supposed to repair his connection to life, the universe and everything else? And what happened if there was no fixing it? He was sure Covington wouldn’t remain patient for much longer, and being a gamekeeper was all he’d ever really wanted to do. When he’d passed his level examinations for magical potential and begun training under the apprenticeship program, he thought that his future was set. Now his life, his job and his identity felt like a bowl of gelatin that hadn’t set properly. There might be some substance there, but the harder he tried to hold on to it, the more it slipped away.
