My Teaser for this week is from
The Book Of M
by Peng Shepherd
Genre: Fantasy / Science Fiction
Teaser from page 74 in the hardcover.
Naz called, and her mother picked up crying. She and Rojan already knew from the news that the power had gone out in Boston overnight. “How much battery do you have left?” was all she said.
“Seven percent,” Naz answered.
Naz left the earpiece in for weeks, even though it was useless.

Synopsis
Set in a dangerous near future world, The Book of M tells the captivating story of a group of ordinary people caught in an extraordinary catastrophe who risk everything to save the ones they love. It is a sweeping debut that illuminates the power that memories have not only on the heart, but on the world itself.
One afternoon at an outdoor market in India, a man’s shadow disappears—an occurrence science cannot explain. He is only the first. The phenomenon spreads like a plague, and while those afflicted gain a strange new power, it comes at a horrible price: the loss of all their memories.
Ory and his wife Max have escaped the Forgetting so far by hiding in an abandoned hotel deep in the woods. Their new life feels almost normal, until one day Max’s shadow disappears too.
Knowing that the more she forgets, the more dangerous she will become to Ory, Max runs away. But Ory refuses to give up the time they have left together. Desperate to find Max before her memory disappears completely, he follows her trail across a perilous, unrecognizable world, braving the threat of roaming bandits, the call to a new war being waged on the ruins of the capital, and the rise of a sinister cult that worships the shadowless.
As they journey, each searches for answers: for Ory, about love, about survival, about hope; and for Max, about a new force growing in the south that may hold the cure.

Intriguing teaser! I like the sound of the synopsis and the cover looks good too. I’m adding this one to Goodreads.
This book has kicked my imagination into high gear. LOL
That’s a new take in the apocalypse theme. I’m in!
Mine is at http://www.aliceaudrey.com/?p=16182
It really goes out there!
I really hope to read this one soon. Sounds interesting and I’ve heard some good things.
It takes you places you wouldn’t expect. I’m so curious to see how the author wraps it up. I’ve tried guessing and know I’m way off. LOL
Sounds intriguing. This week I am featuring A Study in Death by Anna Lee Huber. Happy reading!
Yes it does, Kathy:)
Sounds enticing! Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine: “AN UNWANTED GUEST”
It’s enticing and more:)
Sounds like a good one. I gotta start doing this meme again. I always enjoyed learning about new books…occasionally having to pick up one or two. lol
sherry @ fundinmental
That’s the only hitch to the meme. I spend too much money. LOL
Kind of curious about this as I have seen it all over Booktube. How are you liking it?
I’m really liking it, Stormi. Kind of strange and I’m always up for that.
It sounds interesting. A different apocalyptic scenario. Don’t know why, but it makes me think of Joe Hill’s The Fireman. Hope you’re enjoying it!
The Fireman, that’s it! I knew this reminded of another similar premise. I liked that book too.
This sounds really good. Thanks for visiting Girl Who Reads
I’m so glad I got the chance to read this.
The premise of this book and the lines you shared, almost had me tempted into adding it to my list, despite me not having read from the genre in I don’t know how long!
You will now have me watching my shadow wherever I go, although there are those who probably already think that I have lost most of my memory!!
Enjoy the book and Happy Reading 🙂

LOL I’m almost afraid to look for mine. What if it’s gone!!!!
This one sounds a really gripping read – and I love that cover, too. I hope you enjoy this one, Laura.
I’ve stayed up very late 2 nights in a row and so close to the end. At least I won’t be up til the wee hours tonight to find out what happens. LOL
Sounds intriguing. Great teaser.
This book has so many great excerpts. It was hard to choose which one:)
This sounds interesting. Reminds me of the Uglies series a little bit.
I’ve not read that series. Now I’m curious:)
This really sounds cool!
I tried so hard to stay awake and finish this last night. I only had about 30 pages. I fell asleep almost immediately upon crawling into bed. Not the books fault. I was just worn out after work. I WILL finish it tonight. I have to know how it ends!
I love that teaser and that burb is so intriguing. It sounds a little like an episode of Doctor Who and I’ve been dying for a Doctor Who fix!
It’s out there like Doctor Who! LOL
memory loss is such a great theme that never gets old! and the cover of this book! I wanted to read it even before I knew what it was about. And it is set in Boston?? my book too! 🙂
This was intense and kept me up several nights way past my bedtime. The author threw in some monkey wrenches that had me sitting back on my heels and I feared and anticipated reading the end.
