Bitchcraft
A Supernatural & Paranormal Anthology
with stories by
J.A. Cummings, S.B. Rhodes, Lindy S. Hudis,
Katie Jaarsveld, J.M. Goodrich
A young girl accused of witchcraft in the late 1500s, a grandmother’s dying request, three girls who get more than they bargained for while seeking revenge, college students who play with forces they do not understand, and a woman’s search for her ancestor’s legacy. Take a look inside to learn more about the witches of Bitchcraft.
J. A. Cummings was born in Flint, Michigan and was raised in a nearby town called Clio. Appropriately enough for someone growing up in a place named for the Muse of history, she developed a passion for reading and the past that continues to this day. Her love of poetry and storytelling quickly followed.
S.B. Rhodes
I am a writer and editor. I have known that I wanted to be a writer since I was eight years old, and I am thrilled to be able to make that dream a reality. I am working on a novel, which I hope to publish sometime in the near future. I also write articles and do some freelancing. I mostly do ghostwriting, and I have recently begun to branch out and do more of my own work as well.
Lindy S. Hudis is a graduate of New York University, where she studied drama at Tisch School of the Arts. She also performed in a number of Off-Off Broadway theater productions while living in New York City.
She is the author of several titles, including her romance suspense novel, Weekends, her “Hollywood” story City of Toys, and her crime novel, Crashers. Her latest release, “L.A. Foxx: Hollywood Underworld” is the first installment of a crime, mystery series.
She is also the author of several erotic short stories, including “The S&M Club”, “The Backstage Pass”, “Guitar God”, “The Guitarist”, and “The Mile High Club”. Her short film “The Lesson”, which she wrote, produced and directed, was screened at the Seattle Underground Film Festival and Cine-Nights in 2000.
She is also a former actress, having appeared in the television daytime drama “Sunset Beach”, also “Married with Children” , “Beverly Hills 90210” and the feature film “Indecent Proposal” . She and her husband, Hollywood stuntman Stephen Hudis, have formed their own production company called Impact Motion Pictures, and have several projects and screenplays in development. She lives in California with her husband and two children.
Katie Jaarsveld was born in America. She had an imagination and though she was continually writing something, she was not published until later in life.
Having the support of family members as well as her husband, she finished stories she had written years earlier and brought them to life.
Being encouraged by fellow authors gave her the courage to chase her dreams and become one of the published.
Jeanine Goodrich (Mason) is a newly self-published author, originally from Sault Ste Marie, MI. Her debut novel, Celestial Souls, was published last November and is available on Amazon in paperback, e-book, and is free in Kindle Unlimited, under her pen name J.M. Goodrich. Jeanine currently resides in Gwinn, MI with her husband, two sons, and their cat. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and continues to write fantasy novels.

Some chit chat.

I tried to be good. Do everything I could, but….. I got sick. Everyone at work had some kind of cold or flu, I pumped my body up as best I could, but it got me. Fever, body aches and it feels like I’m swallowing razor blades. I’m sorry I wasn’t around much. Tried to sleep as much as possible to let my body recuperate. Hopefully, I kick this soon and I’ll be back to visiting everyone!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

What I’m Reading Now

Posted: January 25, 2020 in horror

I was shocked to discover that I didn’t have anything scheduled on the blog for today. Since I’ve been sick all week I thought to do something that wouldn’t make my head ache more than than it already does. LOL

So, I’m sharing my recent read and it’s so my kind of story. White Anvil has a very unique spin on the sasquatch, and what better setting for things to go berserk than on a train, during a major snow storm, with some very angry cryptids.

White Anvil

Sasquatch Onslaught

by Matt Betts

Genre: Horror

Synopsis

As if the cold wasn’t enough…

Fleeing an approaching blizzard, a military train carrying prisoners and a handful of citizens derails in the mountains. The survivors fight to stay alive and regroup as the terrible storm buries them in snow. Only then do they discover the train also carried another cargo—two cars loaded with biological experiments—genetically-altered sasquatches conditioned to annihilate anything they find.

Can the few remaining soldiers team with a pair of sisters and a police constable to fight the relentless beasts, icy temperatures, and escaped prisoners long enough for help to arrive?

~~~~~
I was immediately sucked into the story. The author started to set up the plot. Major characters were introduced. And the creatures were hinted at. And that was just in the first chapter. While the train is a military transport of dangerous creatures, it’s not just soldiers onboard. There are some people hitching a ride that have no idea what’s in some of the cars, and some people using the train to hitch a ride for their own reasons.
I keep feasting my eyes on that cover. It’s perfect for the story.
And I can’t wait to see what’s coming!
M. K. Scott is the husband and wife writing team behind The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries. Morgan K Wyatt is the general wordsmith, while her husband, Scott, is the grammar hammer and physics specialist. He uses his engineering skills to explain how fast a body falls when pushed over a cliff and various other felonious activities. The Internet and experts in the field provide forensic information, while the recipes and B and B details require a more hands on approach. Morgan’s daughter, who manages a hotel, provides guest horror stories to fuel the plot lines. The couple’s dog, Chance, is the inspiration behind Jasper, Donna’s dog. Murder Mansion is the first book in The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries. Overall, it is a fun series to create and read.
WE ARE MONSTERS
by Brian Kirk
.
Publication date: Jan 2020
Nominated for a Bram Stoker Award® for Superior Achievement in a First Novel.
“A stark and frightening novel. Horror fans should definitely seek this one
out.” – Booklist
~~~~~

My Review

This book is very much character driven. The author takes his time developing his characters. For some, it may seem like maybe too much time. Not for me. If I’d not gotten a grasp on what makes them tick, I wouldn’t have cared for the story at all.

And it’s also a slow burner. You don’t get instant horror. There were even some parts that lagged for me. But then things really started happening. At first I was confused. Couldn’t grasp what was happening. Once I did, everything turned upside down. I wasn’t sure who was crazy. The patients or the people who ran the asylum. Or both.

If you like psychological horror that makes you think, I recommend you give this a go. I enjoyed it and would happily read more by this author.

4 STARS

Some chit chat.

The weather has been crazy here. Some rain, loads of humidity and very warm. I have my fingers and toes crossed that the mild temps will continue. All of my plants are blooming and the shrubs have new shoots. If it gets too cold, I fear they won’t do that well this spring.

I finished sharing all of the Cozy Corgi books and had so much fun with them. I’m now reading books in the horror and urban fantasy genres and so far they are good. I have Friday off from both jobs and plan to browse for some new reads. I need to check my wish lists and see what’s there. I’m sure I’ve got a bunch.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.
