I decided to do this feature as I have so many great children’s books to share. From picture books, to books for beginning readers, to middle graders, I have plenty of fun ones.

Today I’m taking you deep down in the ocean. It’s a fishy tale, indeed.

Squid have ten arms. Ever wonder why two of them are longer than the others? Henry Herz has a tale to tell.

A squid with only a flashy silver scarf to keep him warm in the cold ocean snatches a sweater from a sleeping octopus.

He then comes across a fiddler crab minding his own business and swoops in and takes his mitten.

Then he spies a sea dweller with a hat. Oh, he really needs that hat. What happens next changes the little thief forever and will stretch your imagination. And a sneaky little fish may be the next story you want to “sea.”

This was an adorable tale about bad actions having consequences. The naughty little squid was quite the thief. The more he took, the more he wanted and the sea sure was bountiful.

The fabulous pictures help tell the story. They’re so colorful and bold that the creatures look like they could swim right out of the pages. I was showing them to my son and he suggested something fun. We turned out all the lights so it was very dark. Then we read the book using a flashlight. It really felt like we were in the dark ocean. I have the print copy and it’s large, like a magazine, with lovely textured pages. The author includes some interesting facts and photos about squid at the end of the book. As much a learning tool as pure enjoyment, this story drew me back more than once.

The tale trails a shivering squid swimming through the cold waters of winter who spots a cozy looking sweater. Although it belongs to an octopus, the squid makes off with the sweater. Still not cozy, the squid keeps swimming and helping himself to more clothes to keep himself warm, until the true owners of the clothes come after him with dire consequences! This charming new twist on a pourquoi tale is complete with colorful comic book style illustrations and scientific information about real life squids that will interest readers of all ages!

Teresa Keefer is an indie romance author with an avid love of books. She

years. She lives in rural Indiana with a menagerie of animals and

Wendy earned her J. D., magna cum laude, at the Georgetown University Law Center where she was awarded the American Jurisprudence award for her performance in Contracts and Advanced Criminal Procedure. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Brown University and attended The London School of Economics and Political Science as part of her undergraduate studies.

Prior to her legal career, Wendy was a financial analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co., in the mergers and acquisitions group. She has also volunteered at the ACLU, Connecticut Legal Services and Figure Skating in Harlem where she served on the Board of Directors for over twelve years.

Wendy is currently writing her third thriller while managing a busy household.

My Review

Doesn’t everyone want their own hellhound? Maybe not one that gets as big as a bus, eh?

Simon takes it all in stride. But his partner insists they get control of Peaches, a hellhound gifted to Simon by Hades himself. It wouldn’t do to have a super sized hellhound with laser beam eyes rampaging through the city.

So Simon and Peaches are sent to obedience school, the instructor being Death, or Ezra as she prefers to be called. They must pass the test or things could go really bad. Simon, a mere human thrown into a world of the paranormal, thinks its a nuisance but Peaches is game.

I came into this not knowing what to expect. From the synopsis, I had a good feeling it would be fun. It was tons of fun. Simon is still new to the paranormal world and fumbles, a lot. He also tends to run off at the mouth, trying everyone’s patience. But Peaches. Peaches is game for anything as long as there is food and plenty of it.

The action doesn’t take long to get going. The moment they enter the training area things go from dicey to a fight to the death. As Simon struggles to use anything available, Peaches actually has to step in to train his human. It was a wild ride from there on and kept me glued to the pages.

Did I enjoy this dip into Orlando’s Montague & Strong paranormal urban fantasy series? Yep. Will I read more? You betcha! Would I recommend it? An enthusiastic yes!

Some chit chat.

I believe trouble comes in threes. This week I came home, went to watch a movie and my DVD player wouldn’t turn on. I went out to check the filter in my pool pump and it was broken. A storm blew through and lightning fried my cable modem, so no internet. Sheesh! I’m happy to report that I ordered a new DVD player and it’s already arrived and hooked up. The company is sending a new filter pump for the pool at no charge as I just purchased it in March. And I drove to the cable office and got a new modem so all is humky dory. I’m afraid to blink as who knows what might happen next. I’m also a form believer is good things come in threes too so crossing my fingers!

I thought I’d share some nature in all it’s wonder.

It was raining and the sun was shining. Look closely and you can see the rain pouring down from the roof.

I tried to get a rainbow pic but never saw one. Funny thing. It was raining in the front yard but not in the back.

And can you name this creature? It’s perched on a blade of grass right by the flower.

I had to catch my breath after reading this one.

Want some thrills? Take a tour of the haunted forest. It’s perfectly safe. Are the monsters real? You’ll soon find out.

The ride begins. Of course, one of the trams breaks down. I couldn’t wait to keep reading and my face grew a maniacal grin because I knew this was where the monsters would come creeping in. I swear, I will never go into the woods again without thinking of this book. It’s creepy, then it’s suspenseful, then it’s creepier, then more suspenseful, and so on. It doesn’t slow down but ramps up and up.

Every kind of creeping, crawling, flying thing you can imagine and then some are prowling the forest. Some want to bash you. Some want to eat you or drain your blood. Some just want to rip you to pieces. All of them want you dead. The party has begun and the lookie loos are the favors.

This was fodder for my horror appetite. I wanted crazy bloody mayhem and I got it. Did I love this book? Yes. Would I recommend it? Most definitely.

On October 30th, a man calling himself Simon started a blog, Road Rage.
He claimed that he was going to kill several people that offended him
with their belligerent driving style. After several claimed murders,
the FBI assigned Special Agent Monique “Nikki” Sebastian, to the
case to monitor the blog and see if she could start a dialog with the
suspected serial killer, to possibly verify his claims. Very quickly,
Nikki realized that not only was Simon doing exactly what he claimed,
she found that he is not your run of the mill serial killer. Simon
seems to function with some sort of moral code and the victims he
chooses may very well be deserving of the attention given. Nikki also
found that she was not sure who was hunting whom, as the
communication between her and Simon became very personal.

As you get to know Simon and the Rage that he carries with him, you will
find there is a lot more to this man than some random serial killer.
He is a man with very unique “problem solving” skills and he
really enjoys his work and the mission he has taken on to help rid
the world of some really unnecessary… bad drivers…

“Unleashed”
is the first in the Road Rage the Blog series of novels. The books
contain adult language and graphic violence. Enter at your own risk
because you just might agree with Simon’s mission.

Two Sharpe Publishing was created as a company to publish some books that
my daughter and I wrote together. This was not something Amanda
nor I had ever even dreamed of, but then life has a way of sending
you down the path that it wants… regardless of where you were
planning on going.

On September 16, 2015, Amanda’s husband Kevin was on his way home from
work late one night and was waiting for traffic to clear in the left
turn lane about a mile from their home. A drunk driver coming
from behind Kevin, at what was estimated 75 mph in a 45 mph zone,
veered out of the travel lanes and struck Kevin in the rear of his
Dodge Neon with a full-size SUV. Kevin was killed instantly in
the crash.

Several months after Kevin’s death, Amanda wrote an autobiography of her
life with Kevin called Stolen and
she asked me if I would help edit the book. Once we put the
finishing touches on Stolen, we decided we would cowrite a fictional
series called The Charly Stevens series.

People deal with the loss of a loved one in many different ways. After
starting the Charly Stevens Series, we came up with another fictional
series called Road Rage The Blog. It is a real time blog written by
Simon, a man who has a great deal of rage, especially when he gets in
a car.

Once we had an idea for the above projects, we needed a Social Engineer to
handle publishing, website development, cover art, and social media
for our company. We were lucky enough to convince Kris Spoon to
join our team. Kris has a wide range of experience in the world
of publishing and social media and has used those unique skills to
create a platform for not only the works we have created to date, but
for those to come. We hope in the future to be able to help
other authors bring their works to life through our company.
