Book Synopsis for Transport
The HURON, a 72-ton heavy transport vehicle and an army of four; tracked, racked and ready to roll, to serve and protect the walled metropolis of Grand Rapids—both her living and her undead. Captain Jacob Billet and his crew patrol the byways, ready for trouble.
William Lettner, the North Shore Coalition High Commissioner, has enemies from the mainland to the lakeshore and needs to be covertly transported home after his helicopter is shot down en route to Grand Rapids. He has no love for a city that gives unliving civilians the right to survive. Lettner’s venomous outbursts assaults Billet and his crew along every mile travelled as they are assigned to safely bring him through the treacherous landscape outside the city back to his hometown.
The HURON and her crew will have to face domesticated zombies and the feral undead; marauders holding strategic chokepoints hostage; barricaded villages fighting for survival, and a group of geneticists who’ve lost control of one of their monstrous experiments if they want to complete their mission.
The crew will need to stay strong and trust one another in order to finish the mission and bring their “precious” cargo home, even knowing, all the while, the terrible deeds Lettner has done.
Travelling through West Michigan was never so dangerous.

Besides the dream of seeing your book in print, one thing so many authors daydream about is what the cover will look like. I come from an artistic background. My grandmother was a watercolorist, and I actually spent time in college as an art major before switching first to forensic pathology (don’t ask—it obviously didn’t last) and eventually English. As someone who’s visual, I was excited and, to be honest, nervous for what Month9Books would come up with as the design for the cover of A MURDER OF MAGPIES.
Georgia McBride asked for my input, which I know is rare because so often authors don’t get much say, if any, in their cover art, but I still didn’t know what to expect. Yet when I saw it, I adored my cover. How could there be any other cover for A MURDER OF MAGPIES? The design brings in details like the cobblestone roads of the book’s setting, Black Orchard, Wisconsin. I could imagine walking down that road in the fog and knowing someone was watching. The antique-style light plays off Vayda’s family’s business in the antiques trade as well as her ability to take emotion and turn it into electricity. Then the bird . . . I love the bird’s position as it is hunched over to peck at the ground as if uncovering a secret, and this is a story where everyone has secrets.

MY REVIEW
Most of the time, when I read YA books, they have vampires, werewolves, or zombies. This is different. There be aliens.
The author gives us a genuine highschool girl in Sloane. She’s bull-headed, snarky, and full-figured.
Now, Hayden is the whole package. He’s built like a jock with a physique that’s drool worthy, and a rep as a bad boy. But he’s got a sweet, gentle side for Sloane.
When these two get together, it heats up pretty quick. And Sloane has some competition.
Being a fan of character driven stories, I really enjoyed the ‘getting to know you’ stage with Sloane and Hayden. And Sloane’s competition is the perfect foil to stir things up.
While writing a paper about Hayden for the school newspaper, Sloane discovers his secret. These two will have to learn to trust each other if they are to overcome the odds and have a happily ever after.
But you won’t know when you reach the end. Can I get a ‘cliffhanger!’ It’s a doozy and shocked me. I wasn’t expecting it to end where it did.
If you’re a fan of YA paranormal romance, I highly recommend you give this a try. It’s a great tease for the series, and you’ll probably be like me. Left wanting more!

MY REVIEW
The book description alone made me want to read this book.
In the beginning, there were a lot of clichés and I was thinking, “Uh oh.” I was worried they would become annoying and slow down my reading. I was worried I wouldn’t like this book. But, I kept going. And kept going…..And before I knew it, I couldn’t put it down.
I tried explaining my confusion to my sister. How I thought I might not like the book, was worried because the author was from Wales and the wording was different. How I didn’t get all of the expressions, even taking them in context.
Then it hit me. It didn’t matter. I was hooked and having a great time.
Matt believes he’s unlucky. Accept for surviving the car crash and subsequent severe head injury.
Going from a med school student to a porter at the hospital isn’t lucky. Nor is being the verbal punching bag for a malicious doctor.
Matt’s psychologist says working will help. Help him accept there was no girlfriend in the car with him when it crashed. She didn’t exist.
So Matt goes to work, suffering the mental assault of the doc, and slowly beginning to think maybe he did make up his girlfriend. It wasn’t all bad. Sure, he’d become a clutz, but he was alive.
Then, one night at work, she walked up to him and planted a big kiss on his mouth. Silvy, his missing girlfriend. The one who didn’t exist.
If he didn’t make her up, maybe other things he’s been remembering are real too. And it’s not long before he finds out they are and things go from unbelievable to out-and-out weird.
Since I’ve never read anything like this before, there’s nothing to compare it to. I’ve been very lucky and found something unique, something different.
With everything that was happening to Matt, I was reminded of a four-way traffic stop. You all get there at the same time and nobody moves. So you decide to go and as soon as you hit the gas, so does someone else. Now you both stop and wave at each other to go. Again, you hesitate, until finally you think the heck with this and hit the gas pedal and go.
Matt handled things pretty much the same way. He kept moving forward, hoping his luck wouldn’t run out.
At one point I found myself chuckling and I had to go back a few sentences to find out why. Things like this little excerpt are dropped like little bombs all through the story, catching you unawares.
” Matt thought for a moment.It only hurt a little.”
Those ten words were just dropped in the paragraph and my subconscious caught on before I did.
It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad, world in The 400 lb Gorilla.
To use a cliché, “A diamond in the rough!”
Oh yeah. The author has a part in the story. Not as a character though. It’ll cost you ‘Two and a half scruples from Wellworths.’

Synopsis
Matt Danmor thinks he’s lucky. Not many people survive a near death accident with nothing more than a bout of amnesia, a touch of clumsiness and the conviction that the technician who did the MRI had grey skin and hooves. Still, it takes time to recover from trauma like that, especially when the girl who was in the accident with you disappears into thin air. Especially when the shrinks keep telling you she’s just a figment of your imagination. So when the girl turns up months later looking ravishing, and wanting to carry on where they left off, Matt’s troubled life starts looking up. But he hasn’t bargained for the baggage that comes with Silvy, like the fact she isn’t really an English language student, or even a girl. Underneath her traffic stopping exterior is something else altogether, something involving raving fanatics bent on human sacrifice, dimensionally challenged baked bean tins, a vulture with a penchant for profanity, and a security agent for the Dept of Fimmigration (that’s Fae immigration for those of you not in the know) called Kylah with the most amazing gold-flecked eyes The 400 Lb Gorilla is caustic, (vampire-free) introduction to the Hipposync Archives: Contemporary fantasy at its sparkling best.

Once a successful doctor of medicine, DC Farmer now works two days a week for the NHS and, thanks to the wonders of Krudian physics, the other nine days a 011-Dyl-011week for Hipposync Enterprises, as a scribe.
Hipposync was established in the early fourteenth century as a purveyor and publisher of rare books, the sort of stuff you are not able to get elsewhere and which contains information as varied as how to guard your castle against the Hordes of Maltasub using Harpie blood and tar, and how to change a beetle into a useful toothpick.
Of course, you will have gathered from all of this that Hipposync is, in fact, just a cover. What lurks beneath that thin veneer of respectability (yeah, right) is much, much more interesting. Hiding behind an office on the banks of the canal in Jericho, Oxford is the Department of Fimmigration (as in Fae immigration). Hey, there has to be one, otherwise just anyone could walk in, right?
DC’s role in documenting the work of the Fimmigration Service has, over the years, led to the realization that the world needs to know. Moreover, if he doesn’t tell someone soon he is going to burst. So, within these pages you will find actual accounts of the splendid work of the Fimmigration Service, beginning with The 400 Lb Gorilla–a sample of which is also on this site, and which will soon be published in its totality by Spence City once appropriate clearance from the ‘authorities’ has been obtained.
Some people say that this is contemporary fantasy fiction. Believe me, it’s real enough on planet hipposync.

I’ve always been a horse lover so what could be better than a story about a horse wrangler and a park ranger.
When a poacher starts killing animals in the park, Ranger Joel Morgan is brought in to track him down. His first brush with trouble isn’t the poacher, it’s sassy horse wrangler, Brittany Lucas.
Brittany is camping in the park, enjoying some alone time when she awakens to a strange man snooping around her camp. Recalling the warnings of a poacher, her guard goes up. When the dust settles, she ends up sharing her tent with Ranger Joel. He won’t leave her alone in the park, and with heavy snows coming, they have to wait til morning to head out.
The sparks from the camp fire are nothing compared to the ones that occur between Brittany and Joel. The attraction is strong but both have assumed things about the each that have them battling wits.
I enjoy character driven novels and the author has many in this book. Brittany is kind and gentle, but also independent and strong-willed.
Joel is hard-headed, determined, and not easy to brush off.
The other characters lend support to the main ones, filling out friendships and giving us some suspects.
Right away I had two characters pegged as possible bad guys. The poacher wasn’t just into making money. His lust for blood was becoming a need and I didn’t think animals would satisfy him for long.
As the attraction between Joel and Britt built, so did the suspense and danger from the poacher. Brittany is now his target and while most of the time, the author doesn’t kill off a main character, you just never know.
It’s always fun to read how the characters meet, how their assumptions screw things up, and they fight the growing attraction. I grinned a lot, laughed too, and shook my head as Britt and Joel made a mess of things.
I especially enjoyed reading about Britt and Gypsy. The ranch owner purchased Gypsy because no one else wanted her. She was out of control and dangerous. When he asked Britt to try to gentle the wild mare, she rose to the challenge and that’s where she really showed her stuff as did the author. You could feel the excitement, but you had to be patient, just like Britt. Whatever turned Gypsy into a raging inferno didn’t happen overnight.
Beautiful scenery of Colorado, a blistering romance, and danger came together in a really good mystery/romance that kept me turning the pages, enjoying the ride.

A redhead sitting nearby caught his attention by flashing him a sensual smile as the live band returned from their first set break. She leaned forward to allow him a clear view of her generous cleavage, then uncrossed her long legs. His gaze slid down as she slowly re-crossed them.
It was a blatant, hot invitation and he felt nothing more than a slight twinge of lukewarm interest.

With a smile that felt more like a grimace, he turned back to the mirrored wall that ran the length of the bar. He lifted his drink, watching the reflection as the door behind him opened. His hand halted in mid-air, then slammed his glass down on the bar so hard he was amazed it didn’t shatter.

He slowly turned to regard the vision face to face. Through an opening in the crowd, he got a split-second glimpse of a gray sleeveless dress, long bare legs, and black cowboy boots. Bodies shifted, and he looked up again, focusing on those blond curls cascading in wild waves past her shoulders.
Now, there was a woman who aroused his emotions. The first being anger, and the second, desire—much as he hated to admit it. The second fueled the first, and he was halfway through the crowd before he even realized he’d moved. When he reached her, he clamped a hand on her arm to spin her back toward the door.
“Hey—”
He glared down into her startled green eyes and marched her right back outside. She tried to pull away, but he refused to release her until they reached the parking lot.
The moment she was free, she whirled to confront him, eyes flashing, chest heaving with indignation. “Who do you think you are? Grabbing me like—”
“I’m the one who walked for hours because you took my horse.”
