Perfect for fans of Laura Childs and Amanda Flower, this second Bee Keeping mystery takes Bailey Briggs to the brink as murders threaten the future of her granny’s Bee Festival.

The small town of Humble Hills, Colorado, is abuzz with excitement over the upcoming annual Bee Festival, sponsored by Bailey’s Granny Bee and the Honeybuzz Mountain Ranch. The long weekend of festivities includes a beauty pageant, beekeeping demonstrations, a local restaurant bake-off, and a 3K Bear Run where all the participants are dressed as bears. The bake-off brings in a television crew from California to film, so it’s the most drama-filled part of the weekend, especially when the famous celebrity host winds up dead.

Because the celebrity was holding her bracelet and had been witnessed having an altercation with Bailey’s best friend Evie shortly before his death, everyone suspects Evie of the murder—and Bailey is quickly on the hunt for clues to clear Evie’s name, alongside Granny Bee and her bunch of geriatric misfit friends. Bailey’s potential new honey, Sheriff Sawyer Dunn, is none too pleased to have Bailey buzzing around the investigation, but Bailey’s determined to uncover the truth, rescue her grannie’s beloved Bee Festival, and save her bestie.

They say you get more flies with honey, but in this case, more honey may mean you end up dead. And a little competition never hurt anyone—unless it ends up killing you.

Maestro must trust her enough to agree to finally let her have the one thing she’d dreamed of since she was a child. Not a bakery to work in—her bakery. “You won’t be sorry, Maestro. I’ll work as hard as you need me to.”

“I’m counting on it,” the cat said dryly. “Now, perhaps you should test our theory and go bake something that you might encourage someone to eat.”

While Jess pondered how his mind had changed so fast, even though he hated the idea, she was ridiculously happy and couldn’t help showing it. “Actually, that could be an issue.”

His eyes narrowed. “In what way?”

“People want to eat my food,” she teased. “I certainly don’t need to push them to do it with a spell.”

He snorted and the crabby cat disappeared for a brief moment so that he looked adorably cute, making her want to hug him. She refrained. Ever since he revealed he was a talking cat and she discovered she was a witch, displays of affection became off-limits. She’d owned him for five years before that incredible day changed her life and her mom had had him before that. Five years of snuggles, kisses, and pats. Then, nothing.

Maestro eyed her for a moment, his expression uncharacteristically confused. Then he coughed and continued along the path. “We should get back. Your sister still needs supervision most of the time.”

Secret sister, she corrected in her head, as a wave of coldness ran over her body. “Maestro…”

Turning quickly at her tone, he raced back to her side. “What is it?”

“Something smells wrong. There’s something in the woods that doesn’t feel right.”

His ears flick left and right. “Something—or someone?”

They peered through the trees, her nose searching for the source of the smell, trying to discern its meaning. It couldn’t be deemed as friendly. Was it a warning? Danger or perhaps death?

She shivered. To know what death smelled like was all kinds of wrong.

Muffalettas and Murder: Small Town Girl Mysteries

Evangeline Delafose is finding Graisseville, Louisiana just as she remembered—boring and uneventful. Until her brother Nate asks her to help solve a murder.

Follow Ev as she navigates clues, dead bodies, and quirky small-town residents to solve a mystery. And of course, show her little brother that she’s still got it.

If you like cozy mysteries with twists and turns, deep South settings, and a hint of romance, you’ll love this series! Let’s not forget quirky yet charming characters who remind you of family—sometimes you want to hug them, and sometimes you want to disown them. Enjoy small town Graisseville with Ev as she solves crime with help from her family and friends. This is a clean faith based read with no profanity, sex, or graphic violence.

This book is the first of the Small-Town Girl Mystery Series.

,

In my first in series, “Muffalettas and Murder”, Evangeline Delafose can’t pay her private investigator. They are childhood friends, and she knows how much he adores her mother’s muffalettas. She pitches the idea of paying him with the tasty Louisiana tradition instead of cash, and he eagerly accepts.

The muffaletta (also spelled muffuletta) traces its roots back to early 1900 New Orleans. Salvatore Lupo set up his shop, Central Grocery along with a flood of other immigrants with the same idea—to peddle delicious food from their home country. Salvatore noticed his customers purchasing the ingredients separately, and came up with the brilliant idea to slice a loaf in half and put them all together as a sandwich.

The soft round bread was called muffuletto, so Salvadore borrowed the name for his sandwich. Eventually, the name morphed into muffaletta or muffuletta, and the sandwiches became part of New Orleans culture.

You can make your own muffalettas, completely by scratch or with a few cheats 😊 :

INGREDIENTS:

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cut loaves of bread in half horizontally, hollow out some of the excess bread to make room
  2. Spread each piece of bread with equal amounts of olive spread
  3. Layer bottom half of each loaf with salami, ham, mozzarella, provolone
  4. Replace top half on each loaf and cut sandwiches into quarters
  5. Serve immediately, or wrap tightly and refrigerate for a few hours to all flavors to mingle and olive spread to soak into the bread

For once, event planner Sophie Winston finds herself a guest at a lavish engagement party, but things go horrifyingly awry when the groom-to-be is fatally poisoned . . .

In Old Town Alexandria’s unlikeliest match, Natasha Smith’s free-spirited mother, Wanda, is engaged to notoriously pompous antiques dealer, Orson Chatsworth—leaving Natasha to plan the entire wedding, beginning with an elaborate engagement party. For the extravagant affair, Natasha splurges on trendy food boards created by rising social media star, Stella St. James. The sumptuous boards go way beyond basic cheese and crackers, as Stella dazzles guests with picture-worthy butter boards, dessert boards, and even doughnut boards. Just as Natasha planned, the food is to die for—until someone actually does.

When the groom collapses, it seems as if a heart attack is to blame. Then guests discover Orson was poisoned, and suddenly Stella’s bespoke boards look a lot less appealing. But with an event this big, the spread of suspects is sure to be impressive. Could Orson’s killer be a jilted ex-lover? A money hungry relative? A bitter former business partner? When even Sophie is not above suspicion, she knows it’s time to get on board and scrape together an investigation of her own . . . before murder becomes the town’s next trend.

Includes delicious recipes, fabulous decorating tips, and easy entertaining hacks!

Enjoy this peek inside:

Dear Sophie,

My seventy-five-year-old father is getting married! The bride and groom have been married before to other people and have adult children and grandchildren. They’re planning a huge wedding and the bride will wear white. I think this is in poor taste and they should quietly tie the knot at the courthouse in a civil ceremony by themselves. What do you think?

Tied in Knots in Loveland, Ohio

Dear Tied in Knots,

A wedding is one of life’s biggest and most lovely events. If the bride and groom want a big wedding with all the traditions that accompany nuptials, I think they should do it and celebrate in any way that makes them happy. There are no age limits on joy.

Sophie

On Sunday evening, when other people were settling in and getting ready to start a new workweek, I walked my mixed breed hound, Daisy, to relax after finishing up a busy week. An unpleasant waft of smoke reached me. Most likely from a fire pit in someone’s backyard, I supposed.

As an event planner, I often worked when others didn’t. I had just finished a major convention for the Federation of Pharmacists. They had been lovely to work with and their exhibits had been fascinating. It had been a major convention and I was ready for some downtime.

The sun had set in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, but the temperature was perfect for sleeveless attire. The balmy air made me feel summery and carefree. Porch lights and front door lights gleamed on Federal style homes, many of which had been built in the 1800s. Now and then I caught a glimpse of lights strung over a backyard and the sound of laughter.

We had no destination in mind. Mostly, I needed to stretch and relax, and Daisy needed to get outside and sniff the world. We ambled along until I saw a blaze. In the seconds that it took me to realize that it arose inside a car, it quadrupled in size.

I reached for my phone and called 911. “A car is on fire!” I gave the operator the name of the street and the closest cross street. “Hurry! The flames have moved from the front seat to the back.” I felt completely helpless. There wasn’t a thing I could do about it. Although we were a good distance away, Daisy leaned against my legs as if it scared her, too.

Sirens sounded louder than normal in the quiet night. They passed us and clanged to a stop. In minutes, firefighters had the fire under control.

One of the firemen recognized me and strode over. “I hear you called in the fire?”

“Yes. It was small and then whoosh, it grew so fast!”

He nodded. “Yeah, car fires will do that. Did you see anyone get out of the car?”

“No!” His question worried me. “I hope there wasn’t anyone inside.”

“We don’t think so. We’ll open the trunk and have a look as soon as it cools off.”

I shuddered to even imagine that possibility. I thanked him for responding so quickly and said good night.

Secrets are revealed. Lies are exposed. And in order to have a future, William and Eva will have to delve into the past.

William Templeton, widower and police chief of Eden, North Carolina is working the scene of a local woman’s drowning when the body is found with an old gold coin in her pocket – identical to a coin that was discovered on Catherine’s body, his estranged wife, over a year ago. Catherine’s case, originally deemed a tragic accident, has been reopened, forcing William to step down as police chief.

Historian and Blackbeard expert, Eva Knightly, is brought into the investigation to help identify the coins and can’t understand why her good friend Catherine never mentioned anything about it. When more coins surface at a local church, Eva and William know it’s more than mere coincidence. With the entire town whispering about Blackbeard, cursed coins, and lost treasure, it becomes hard to separate what is true and what is a myth.

The Seafarer’s Secret is a thrilling cinematic mystery featuring the exigent slow-burning romance between William and Eva as they work together to reveal the secrets and lies of Eden, North Carolina. Though, in order to have a future, they’ll have to look deep into the past to keep from being a modern-day killer’s next victim.

Enjoy this peek inside:

“I guess I probably shouldn’t ask about the coins you gave to Eva Knightly.” William worded it that way because he knew Robert wouldn’t be able to stop himself from wanting to know more.

“What about them?” Robert asked, exactly as William

intended.

“Where did you get them?”

“I thought she would have told you.” Robert’s expression

remained unchanged. “They were placed in the offering plate,

the Sunday after Gabby’s death.”

“You don’t know who put them there? Have any suspicions?”

Robert gave a small smile. “You and Catherine attended here

for a good number of years. You know we don’t snoop around

offerings people don’t want to be recognized for. Nor do we ques-

tion anonymous gifts.”

William knew of a least a dozen times Catherine had dropped

cash into the passed plate without any sort of information as to

who it was from. He suspected Robert knew she had done so as

well. But maybe that wasn’t the same case with the coins.

“Why don’t you want the coins back?” William asked. “They

might be worth a lot.” He knew for a fact they were. When he

made it home after learning what they were from Emerson, he’d

looked up the estimated value online. For Robert to refuse a gift

that large made no sense.

“I don’t think God wants anything to do with the Devil’s

Coins.”

“Perhaps God wants you to redeem the coins. To use them for

good.” William couldn’t understand Robert’s reasoning for giving

them away. “If someone dropped them in the offering, surely they

wanted you to do something with them. Change some lives. Give

to missionaries. Heck, do you know how many families live in

poverty in our county alone?” The more William thought about

it, the more he couldn’t see where Robert was coming from.

“I don’t think so. Not those coins.”

“Why not?” William pressed. “They’re only metal. Surely metal

can’t hurt anyone.”

“Because they’re cursed.” Robert’s voice grew louder, but he

wasn’t yelling. Yet. “Cursed and so will be any man, woman, or

child who dares to lay claim on them.”

William had only seen Robert this worked over a few times

before. Always, it’d been over an issue Robert was passionate

about. William found it hard to believe old coins fit into that

category, no matter who they might have belonged to once.

William chuckled, trying to lighten the fear in Robert’s voice.

“Come on. You don’t really believe that, do you?” But it was clear

he did.

“Of course I do, and if you were smart, you would believe it

too and have nothing to do with those coins.”
