Jurassic Resort 2 Battle For Raptor City

MY REVIEW

The fight against aliens who are planning to annihilate man from existence isn’t happening in the future. It takes place in the past. Traveling through a portal, humans now live in the age of the dinosaur. And it’s definitely a fight for survival.

I thought the first book in this series was out of this world. The second one is even crazier and packed with action. It didn’t take me long to realize I shouldn’t get attached to any of the characters. It’s man against dinosaur and there’s nothing even sided about that. There’s this scene where a man is about to be eaten by a dinosaur. He’s staring into it’s mouth, lined with sharp teeth. What actually saves him is an even bigger dinosaur eats the one attacking him.

If you love creature features and don’t have a sensitive stomach, you really need to try this series. It’s one bloody, gory battle and I loved every bit of it.

Synopsis

100 million people have crossed a spacetime portal into dinosaur times to build a self-sustaining society before aliens destroy humanity. But a greedy man has a trillion dollar secret that will get him killed, sparking the biggest battle in 67 million years. After Raptor Ray’s daughter is murdered, her sisters must use dinosaurs to stop the 50,000 gunmen coming to kill them. The weirdest war in the 21st Century takes place in the past and history will never be the same. He screamed when the spino removed his stomach and screamed some more as she ate him over his body. His blood and her saliva dripped on his face. With his mouth open like that, some probably got inside. A raptor blindsided him at full speed. It was like getting hit by a car with spikes. Peterson flew into several guys, knocking them down, his internal organs becoming external as they fell out of his open stomach. His friends stared at him in horror. The heavy weapons sounded like gods farting thunder. Now all alone, he watched two gunmen come out and check the bodies, laughing at the free kills. The big room was packed with people when missiles broke the windows. HQ disappeared in an explosion of sound and smoke. Flesh flew and shit literally hit the fan. A primal scream left his lungs and a dozen mega-raptors rose above the tall grass to look at him with tears of joy. Dinner just served itself. He grabbed one armed chicken by the neck, but others were chewing chunks of his flesh, straight through his clothes. Another bit into his bicep and the knife dropped from his fist. A massive claw dug into his stomach and excavated a few organs. He flew up into a tree, where he caught on a branch. Bleeding out, the guard watched monsters eat his friends. Stepping over the human, the spino caught the mega in his massive jaws. Declan turned to stare at the horrified face of the raptor, just a few paces away, as rows of serrated 8” teeth chewed her up. He took down three raptors in his first clip. The last landed not far from him and crawled over like that thing from the movie Alien.

I swear I just blinked and here it is almost October. Before you know it Christmas will be here. This whole year flew by for me. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to stop ad smell the roses. Heck, they’re probably dead since I forgot to water them. LOL

The epidemic was traumatic and Covid hit me like a freight train. Took months to regain my strength and even longer to get my brain back in gear. I missed 2 years of doing my Chills And Thrills feature for October. But I’m back at it and have some scary good stuff to share. Get ready October. Here I come!!!!

Fall is inn the air. While we’re still in the 90s, the evenings are cooler and there’s less humidity. This got me inspired and I got my fall and Halloween decorations. I spy with my little eye….. Christmas decorations. Yep. Can you believe it. They don’t even have Halloween or Thanksgiving out yet and there’s the holly jolly stuff. The mad dash has begun. Sure doesn’t feel Christmas like here. 100+ and so humid it’s hard to breathe. Many people think September is the end of summer on the Gulf Coast. Hold those horses peeps. It gets even hotter and then the hurricane season ramps up. Crossing my fingers, toes and eyes we don’t get hit by one this year.

It Comes Down to Community

We are friends with the people at the Redwood Gospel Mission in Santa Rosa, CA (about 30 miles from us). The front page of their May 2023 newsletter features a man named Steven – formerly homeless and an addict – who became a Christian, got clean, and has put his life back together. The caption on his picture says “Even if you don’t believe in God, this is a place where you can come and feel accepted, get warm, get food and get loved.”

That quote got me thinking about our many encounters with the homeless. On the surface, the problem is usually mental illness and/or drug addiction. But when you dig deeper, the thing that kicked them out onto the streets isn’t either of those. Rather, it is a failure of community. Most of our homeless friends are far away from their families and often they are no longer welcome. Some don’t have any family left.

Yes, we can give them financial and physical help, but we aren’t addressing the chief problem – we all need to belong with and to somebody. The people who are most successful in helping the homeless are those who are best at bringing them into their communities. There are various ways to do this – homeless shelters, tiny home communities, welcoming the homeless to your church, etc. I’m no expert and I don’t know the statistics on what works best, but I do know this—if any of these are going to have lasting effect in homeless people’s lives, they have to fulfill Steven’s words above.

Most of us aren’t directly associated with homeless shelters, able to build tiny house communities, or even able to make the decisions about how our church interacts with the homeless. But we all have at least a little say in our churches and we all live somewhere near a homeless shelter (hopefully an effective one!). Most importantly, though, we can be a homeless person’s first point of contact for healthy community. And we can all do SOMETHING to help them feel accepted, get warm, and get loved. So, what are we waiting for?

Meet the Author:

Mother Melania is the Abbess of Holy Assumption Monastery in Calistoga, CA. She grew up in a house that always had tons of children around, her poor parents had to read to her till they were hoarse, and from the moment she learned to read, she always had her nose in a book. So, it was only natural for her to grow up to write children’s books.

She has written three series of specifically Orthodox children’s books – all in verse – which celebrate the high points of God’s work of salvation in the Person of Christ. Her remaining series teach children the virtues in a fun, non-preachy way.

Fearless and Friends chronicles the lives of Fearless the Fireduck (think ‘fireman,’ except that he’s a DUCK) and Charity the Church Mouse and their friends, who get in and out of trouble based on the wisdom (or lack thereof) of their actions.

The Adventures of Kenny and Scooter is a minimal-word series featuring six-year-old Kenny and his irrepressible Boston Terrier Scooter, who take turns getting into trouble and rescuing each other from their foolish antics.
