“Bianca!” Nicole shrieked.

Bianca embraced her friend. “You look amazing!”

Nicole planted her hands on her slim hips. Her sundress flowed to her knees and flattered her waist. Long blonde hair, five seven, and flawless ivory skin. Her blue eyes shined. The woman could have been a model if she wanted to, but found her passion as a beauty blogger. “Thank you. Come on in.”

Looping her arm with hers, Bianca walked with Nicole to the kitchen after setting her gift on the designated table. When they entered the kitchen, Bianca spotted Judy.

“Bianca! Welcome.” Her red hair shined as always.

“Let me help you, Judy. I can’t just stand around and let you do all of this for me.” Nicole stood in front of a plate of ham and grabbed the butcher knife from Priscilla’s, Chad’s mother, kitchen set.

“Nicole.” Judy sighed. “You’re the bride. You should be mingling with your guests.”

“There will be plenty of time for that.” Nicole nudged her shoulder and sliced the meat onto a serving tray.

Bianca made herself comfortable on a bar stool. “Having fun so far? You seem more relaxed now.” That was a good sign.

Nicole beamed. “I am. I can’t believe the wedding is next weekend.” She exhaled. “I’m so nervous.”

“Not about marrying Chad, I hope,” Judy said as she tossed the salad.

“Can I help?” Bianca stood.

Judy pointed for her to sit down. “No, I won’t have the both of you helping. Nicole’s the bride so she can get away with it.”

Bianca returned to her seat and folded her hands in her lap. She figured Judy was in her zone so she wouldn’t offer again to help her in the kitchen. “Everything looks amazing.”

Judy touched a hand to Nicole’s shoulder. “I can’t tell you what it means to me that you asked us to cater your wedding. Thank you.”

Nicole smiled. “Are you kidding? I wouldn’t have anyone else cooking for me.”

Bianca’s heart warmed at the friendly exchange. With Nicole marrying into the high society Davis family, she could have chosen top-notch caterers to serve her reception meal. Yet, she’d chosen Edenville’s best. There was no one better than Judy, who could cook and bake along with her husband, Richard.

“I do have a question for you my friend.” Nicole directed her attention to Bianca.

“What?” Bianca asked.

“I think you could get along with at least one of Chad’s—”

Bianca held up a hand to stop her. “Before you start setting me up with all of the groomsmen, I’ll pass.”

“Oh, Bianca. Really?” Nicole huffed.

“I’ll let you know if I change my mind.” Bianca winked at her.

Nicole paused in her slicing of the ham when her phone rang in her dress pocket. She stared at the screen but didn’t answer.

Not knowing can be lethal

Assaulted, left for dead, and amnesic, the woman who thinks her name is Alex, may be the only surviving victim of a killer who’s targeting prostitutes and leaving their bodies without fingertips to complicate their identification. Denver Homicide Detective Blake Halloran is sure she is connected to the other killings but he can’t identify her, even with her fingertips intact. And she can’t remember anything—including the face or name of the man who tried to kill her.

With each new victim, it becomes more crucial for Alex to remember what happened to her if Blake and his partner are to solve the murders, but how do you force someone to remember? As Blake’s strong attraction to her and his need to protect her grows, so does his uneasiness about the inability to identify her, whether she’s a villain or a victim, and whether her amnesia is real.

Blue Manhattan
Moonlight Mayhem Book 1
by Kyra Jacobs
Genre: Paranormal Fantasy Romance
Bartender Shayla Tempest wants nothing more than to stay out of trouble. Oh, and to kill the supernatural mob boss who’s stolen her sister. So, when Mauricio Hunter demands Shay deliver some “special package” in exchange for her sister’s life, this supe masquerading as a blue-skinned witch doesn’t hesitate to agree. Until, that is, she learns the package is one that’s completely off-limits for her kind: a human.
Computer programmer Jamie Knight just wants to finish debugging his latest app. But some douche bag named Mauricio has kidnapped his girlfriend, and now Jamie’s dodging dangerous mythical creatures in a race against time to pay her ransom. His only hope? One seriously stubborn witch who’s blue, scary powerful, and sexy as hell.
With an unexpected attraction brewing between them, this unlikely duo will break every rule in the supernatural underworld to complete their rescue mission. But something far more devious than kidnapping is on Mauricio’s true agenda, and the erlking will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Do Shay and Jamie have what it takes to thwart his plans without losing themselves—or each other—along the way?
.
.
.

Hello everyone! Today we’re bringing you a round of speed dating with Shayla Tempest and Jamie Knight, the main characters in Kyra Jacobs’s latest paranormal romance novel, BLUE MANHATTAN. So get comfy and scroll on, their interview is about to begin…

Host: Shay and Jamie, thank you so much for joining us today. Why don’t we start out with each of you telling us a little about yourselves?

Shay: Are you a supe? *glances around* Because if not, I’m really not supposed to be here. In fact, you didn’t see me. Nope, you didn’t see anything—

Host: Oh, no worries. I’m part fae, so it’s just us supernaturals here today.

Shay: Oh, good. Man, it’s getting tougher trying to avoid humans. Hell, I had this one come crashing into our bar a few months back. Was sure I’d get blamed for that one.

Jamie: Hey!

Host: Wait, so…is Jamie supposed to know about us?

Shay: Yes. Because, well, it’s complicated. *bats her eyelashes*

Jamie: You can say that again. And for the record, it was Mauri who told me to go find Shay. Otherwise, I would have steered clear of McGronkle’s Pub. That first night, it was all I could do to open the door, let alone step inside.

Shay: *grumbling* Shouldn’t have been able to step past the spells I put around the bar at all, but then…well, we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves.

Jamie: Right. So, yeah, me walking into McG’s as a human? Not my favorite memory. Before that, the craziest I ever got was intentionally messing with the other programmers where I worked. Inserting decoy bugs in code can be a really fun prank.

Shay: *rolls her eyes* Yawn.

Host: *laughs* I take it you’re not into the techie life as much as Jamie?

Shay: No. Like, not at all. Besides, who needs gadgets when I have magic?

Jamie: True, but not every supe has the treasure trove of spells you do, darling.

Shay: *smirks* I know.

Host: Oh? Can you tell us a little about your magic?

Shay: Nope. Classified.

Host: Really? Not even a litt—

Shay: Nope. Classified.

Host: *looks to Jamie, who gives a subtle head shake* Okaaaay then. Well, let’s get to our speed round of questions, shall we? I’ll ask a question, you both give me your best answer. Sound good?

Jamie: Yep. Shoot.

Host: Alright, question one–favorite food?

Jamie: Krispy Kreme donuts.

Shay: Mmm pancakes.

Jamie: Ha! Just don’t ask what she likes to top them with. *makes gagging face*

Shay: *punches Jamie in the arm*

Host: I’m going to take your advice on that one Jamie, and move to question two—favorite vacation location: beach, or cabin in the woods?

Jamie: Beach!

Shay: Cabin in the woods, far away from water. Far, far away.

Host: Not a fan of water, huh? I’ll take that death glare as a ‘no’. Right. Question three—favorite color?

Shay: Blue

Jamie: *slips note under table to host* Yes, definitely blue.

Host: *reads note, which advises not to mention green or any shade of it* Interesting. Okay, final question—favorite drink?

Shay: Fire water, but only if I make it.

Jamie: Personally, I’m rather partial to blue Manhattans. Shay makes them best.

Host: *laughing* I guess I should have seen that answer coming. Well, that’s all the time we have for today. Thank you both SO much for joining us. Tell me, what do you have in the works next?

Jamie: Hmm, don’t think it’s wise to elaborate on our current mission, but let’s just say we’ve got some work left to do to keep Mauricio Hunter and his creepy goons from succeeding at his crazy world domination ideas. Lucky for us, our reinforcements have arrived. Oh, that’s Tessa calling now…

Shay: *sighs* That woman needs to learn how to relax. And learn how to trust me. Seriously, she’s not the kind of partner I would have picked. Hmm, judging from that look on Jamie’s face, I’m guessing we need to be on our way. Nice chatting with you, though.

Host: Trust me, the pleasure was all mine. If you’d like, I can show you two out.

Shay: *raises one hand, finger pressed to her thumb* Nope, I’ve got this. Come on, Jamie.

*SNAP*

Host: *finds self alone in the studio* Wow, I wish everyone had that power. Thank you, my dear audience, for joining us today. I hope you enjoyed meeting Shay and Jamie, and be sure to check out their adventures in BLUE MANHATTAN. Kyra Jacobs assures us the duo will continue to make appearances throughout the series, though next up is a new pair of main characters with all new magical abilities. Until next time, stay safe and happy reading!

Hours later, we all sat chuckling as Pamela mocked her boyfriend, Kyle Bellmen. The smile I held was finally genuine, as I’d been granted my wish: to revel in the normality of my old life without the tense spotlight of talking about my new one.

The laughter in the cabin was at its loudest of the night. Even Heather was joining in with us. Then a thud drew our attention to the starboard side of the boat.

“What was that?” Heather asked.

Without a need for a command, Erika turned down the music. She stood silent, listening as she stared at the ground. After a few seconds of silence, she looked back at the group with a shrug.

“Something probably fell that wasn’t secure on deck. I’ll check it out to be sure.”

She jogged up the steps and creaked open the door hatch to make her way onto the deck. We all sat silent, waiting for news of what she would discover.

“Oh my god,” Erika whined out.

I was out of my seat and up the steps before any of the others had moved. When I reached the doorway I stepped onto the deck only to be met with a darkness that forced me to blink excessively to adjust to the sight.

But my stomach tensed, as I knew that it was taking too long to adjust to the dark when we were so close to the docks. I turned to use the lampposts from the boardwalk as a guide only to realize there were none. My eyes had finally begun to adjust enough to stiffen at the sight.

There were no lampposts because we weren’t near the docks. There was no light except for the cabin lights from below deck. And just as the other girls began to shout out, “What the hell,” and “Oh my god,” I felt my own unease. We were stranded in the middle of the Pamlico River.

I looked to Erika, who seemed to be pleading with me for an explanation—one that I didn’t have.

“I swear the boat was securely tied up to the dock. And even then, it would be impossible without the engine on, right?”

She was scratching her head while looking in all directions, clearly panicking, as most would. But glancing beyond her toward the bow, my eyes caught sight of the problem. Shit.

So much for being normal.

Damaged Gods
JA Huss writing as KC Cross
Publication date: July 27th 2021
Genres: Paranormal/Monster Romance

Synopsis

When I answered an ad for a caretaker at Saint Mark’s Sanctuary I thought I’d be dusting chandeliers and polishing floors. I didn’t expect to be tricked into a curse, going in debt to a monster, and being forced to take a self-paced “Let’s Learn Magic” course so I can fix a two-thousand-year-old problem.

And that monster?
Not your ordinary, everyday beast.
He has hooves, and horns, and fur on his legs.
But ya know where he doesn’t have fur?
Yep. There.
Which is fine.
Except he doesn’t wear pants.

Nothing at Saint Mark’s is exactly what it seems.
The entire inside is magic, the hallways upstairs are nothing but parties from the past, and the super-hot guy who lives in the dungeon?
Yeah.
Not human.

My name is Pie and all I want is to be a normal girl with an average life.
I refuse to get stuck in this curse.
I refuse to learn magic to break it.
And there is no way in hell I will fall in love with a monster.

Famous.
Last.
Words.

DAMAGED GODS is a fun paranormal monster romance about a girl named Pie who accidentally stumbles into a monster’s 2000-year-old curse only to find she’s exactly where she’s supposed to be.

Goodreads / Amazon / Audible

Check out this peek inside:

“If this kills me—”

“If this kills you, you should thank me. Since you’re immortal. That means your curse would be broken.”

Well. She’s got a point there. I put the test tube up to my lips, almost pass out from the horrible smell, then down it in one gulp. It hits my stomach with a burn.

“The burn passes,” Pie says hurriedly. And she puts her hand on my arm, either faking compassion or really meaning it.

Her touch is warm too. And something about it does make me feel better. Soon, the burn is gone and in its place is a tingling feeling in my hands. Then a buzzing in my head.

“Did you get to the buzzing yet?” she asks. I nod. “Good. You’re almost there. Now, while we’re waiting for it to work, let’s talk about this job.”

“No.” I put up a hand. “Not now.”

“Yes. I need a job. Just a part-time one. The Honey Bean is looking for a waitress. I need that, Pell. And I will use all my money to buy what we need and then I won’t have to go into debt.”

“You don’t get it. That won’t work. The harder you fight the curse, the more it works against you. The less magic money you use, the more the curse will force you to use it. Bad things will happen. And that will force you to work harder to…” I pause, not really wanting to say the last bit.

“Harder to what?” she presses.

“Please me. The harder you’ll have to work to please me with the debt book stuff.”

She points a finger in my face. “I will not be blowing you. Just… FYI.”

I cannot hide my laugh. “Good to know. And for the record, Pie, you’re not my type.”

She lifts her chin up in indignation like I just insulted her. “I’m not your type?”

“Nope.”

“What kind of type do you like? Bull girls?”

“I’m not a bull.”

“A satyr chimera girl?”

“There are no female satyr chimeras. We’re all men.”

“Then what is your type?” And now she’s annoyed.

I shrug. “I’ve always been partial to the nymphs.”

“Nymphs.” She crinkles her nose like the thought of nymphs is distasteful. “Water fairies?”

“Not fairies. Nymphs. You know. Willowy girls with evil intentions lurking in the forest.”

She laughs. A real laugh. “You like bad girls?”

“I do.”

“I’m not bad enough for you?”

“Not even close.”

Gracie & Zeus Live The Dream

by Elizabeth Roderick

57987656. sy475

Synopsis

Grace Morgan has been on the music scene long enough to know the life of sex, drugs & rock & roll is just a dream. But after a messy divorce, Grace wants to give her dream of being a music journalist one last shot.

She moves to LA with her 21-year-old foster son, Zeus. They live in a motel on cup noodles and hope, until Grace finally gets a break: a story about Inez Carter, hot-mess frontwoman of the popular band Karma Korn.

The story delivers more sex, drugs and rock & roll than Grace bargained for. Karma Korn’s drummer, Nelson, has Grace rethinking her post-divorce vow of celibacy. And after they’re invited to an elite Hollywood rave, where they mistakenly drink the electric Kool-Aid, Zeus is scouted to be the lead guitarist for another star band.

However, the story soon goes sideways, and things aren’t adding up. Someone is spreading rumors about Grace, trying to sabotage her career and reputation. Then someone tries to kill her. Grace is left frantically trying to connect the dots in the dwindling hope she’ll be able to salvage the story, her relationship with Nelson, and her life.

Enjoy this peek inside:

Zeus crafted an impossibly good song out of nothing as he swung back and forth on his knees, making the chandelier sway. His song’s hook was completely nonderivative, and perfect enough to make Grace’s scalp tingle. It wasn’t until Zeus caught her eye again and broke out in a wide grin that she realized she was smiling like a maniac. He pursed his lips at her in an exaggerated rock-n-roll face and played the final chords, letting them squeal. As they died away, the crowd broke out in cheers, stomping for more.

Zeus swung himself upright and dropped to the ground, the guitar held gently in one hand. He gave it to Nicholson, who looked at it like he’d never seen it before. People pressed forward to mob Zeus, patting him on the back, giving him hugs, but he ambled through them to stand before Grace with his hands in his pockets. He broke into a beatific grin. “I’m so high right now.”

Grace laughed, tears rolling down her face. “That was awesome. But you’re so stupid.” She smacked him on the shoulder. “Why do you do things like that?”

He shrugged. “Even orangutans like to play guitar sometimes.”

Grace raised an eyebrow. There was a streak of movement. Zeus’s eyes went wide as Inez crashed into him, pressing her lips to his in a drunken kiss. Nicole, still standing in the DJ booth, looked on with a hurt expression. Duke appeared out of the crowd and pulled Inez away, leaving Zeus looking ruffled but pleased with himself.

About Author Elizabeth Roderick:

Because at eight thirty on a Saturday morning, she opened her front door to find Captain Kirk smiling at her—a five-foot-four Pakistani Captain Kirk.

“You are surprised.” He beamed. “This is good.”

Mairi blinked several times, but no, he was still there. “Amir?”

“Who else would it be on this fine Scottish morning?” He tugged at the hem of his gold captain’s uniform.

“Amir? In Scotland? At my house?”

He opened his mouth to say something else, but Mairi needed a minute. She held up her hand. “Just a sec.” And shut the door.

“Who was that?” One of Mairi’s three older sisters, Agnes, was dressed for a shift working reception at a hotel in Campbeltown. She wore a navy pantsuit, black heels and a crisp white shirt. Her golden blonde hair was in a neat French knot, and her makeup was minimal. She looked every inch the hotel manager she aspired to be, and no doubt would be, once she’d passed her final exams. “Mairi, pay attention. Who’s at the door?”

“Amir.” Mairi wondered if more coffee would help her brain cope with finding one of her online boyfriends on her doorstep.

“Amir who?” Agnes headed for the kitchen alcove in their living area.

“He’s an online boyfriend.”

Agnes stopped dead and turned slowly toward her. “One of your geeks is here? In person?”

Mairi nodded.

“How does he know your address? I thought the agency you work with said those details would never get out. I thought all those guys were supposed to stay firmly online.”

“Yeah.” There was nothing else to say.

The Cold Case Chronicles

An interview with author Kacie Clement

  • Can you tell something about yourself and how you became an author for those who don’t know you already?

I had retired as an Executive Director of a National Renewable Energy Non-Profit and became quickly bored. Then I found Pinterest. I was on my deck painting rocks, and sobbing wondering what I would do with the rest of my life. I, at that exact moment, decided I would become an author. I grabbed a notebook and sketched out a story.

  • What have you enjoyed most about writing this series?

The characters and building them as the story goes on.  One, in particular, Willie Mae Gordon. She is 80+ years old, living in Shadowbank, Mississippi, a creole woman, and is a traiteur, which is a healer.  She is sassy, always finding some kind of trouble, and often falls right in the middle of her niece Detective Kamira Jackson’s cases. I also enjoy having a mafia family that are the good guys!

  • Where did you come up with the names in your story?

Well, I have a hard time with names. I have this obsession with reading obituaries. I write down exciting names and characteristics of people. I mix and match the names and use interesting elements to build my characters.

  • Convince us why you feel your series is a must-read.

The Cold Case Chronicles are fun easy to read novellas. I have had enjoyed writing them and hope people will enjoy reading them connecting with the characters.

  • What can we expect from you in the future?

I am just starting Book 5: The Journey to Justice and plotting a new series, A Whispering Cove Mystery. A new series that will feature a book writing club that solves local mysteries. All members of the club have a secret. The first book will be called Death by Ink. But first, I have to go to Oregon to research my location.

A Shooting, A Drug Deal, and a Trail of Ants
Cold Case Chronicles Book 2

After narrowly escaping with her life, ace Detective Kamira Jackson is back on the beat in the small town of Shadowbank, Mississippi, to dig up dirt on a string of cold cases. Her second taste of Shadowbank crime is the mysterious drive-by shooting of straight-A student Annie Ainsworth ten years ago. Out for an innocent drive with school friends, the night turns deadly leaving the town grieving and in shock, with few answers to follow.

The bungled investigation ten years prior has far-reaching consequences as a nameless killer remains at large. With a string of suspects casting long shadows, Kamira is determined to uncover the truth behind that tragic night, starting with the friends Annie spent that fateful evening with. Whatever became of them? Oddly enough, they were never interviewed. Mere oversight or a fiery red flag?

While Kamira scours the cold case files for hidden clues into Annie’s killer, her colleague, Terrance James investigates a counterfeiting operation that has infiltrated the community with a sea of fake currency. Organized crime has been quietly making inroads into the Shadowbank community for years, but just how deeply are they entrenched?

The very real danger hits too close to home when Deputy Joe Hopkins is found dead under suspicious circumstances. With an officer down, Kamira comes to the disturbing realization that the past and present crimes have a common thread – the State Line Mob. Adding urgency to the investigation, Kamira and Terrance must keep their wits about them as they uncover the patchwork of clues connecting all three cases. Will they discover the truth before the mob strikes again?

Follow Kamira as she investigates cold cases and encounters characters you’ll long remember after turning the last page. A Shooting, A Drug Deal, and a Trail of Ants is the thrilling second book in the Cold Case Chronicles series.

Perhaps getting a little too close to the truth, she is found dead under equally unsettling circumstances. Another 50 years pass, and the trail may have run cold, but small towns talk and questions linger on. Was this just another tragic accident, or is there a murderous web of lies still threatening to ensnare the next generation of truth-seekers?

Once again, Detective Kamira Jackson finds herself in the thick of things looking for answers in Shadowbank, Mississippi. With her trusted partner, Terrance James, Kamira seeks out the counsel of Wynn Gunn, director of the local historical society and esteemed expert on all things Hawthorne-related. Coffee and Crushes at the Cat Café
Furrever Friends Book 1
by Kris Bock
Genre: Sweet Romance

What do you do when you meet the guy of your dreams? Set him up with your sister, of course.

Kari doesn’t have time for love when she’s opening her new cat café. Renovating an old restaurant, hiring employees, fighting with the health inspector – oh, and welcoming 16 shelter cats – keeps her plenty busy. She’s doing this for the cats, the community, and most of all her family. The café will give her sister, Marley, a job worthy of her baking skills.

Then a tattooed military vet wanders in claiming to be a master baker himself. The café doesn’t need another baker, but maybe Marley needs a man. Surely she’ll fall for a guy this sweet, this sexy, this tasty.

Colin has other ideas. It’s Kari who makes him want to pour on the sugar and turn up the heat. But he’s spent the last two years recovering from physical and psychological wounds. Is he really ready for a relationship? He’s not even sure he should commit to Samson, the fluffy marshmallow of a cat who steals his heart.

The Furrever Friends Sweet Romance series features the workers and customers at a small-town cat café, and the adorable cats and kittens looking for their forever homes. Each book is a complete story with a happy ending for one couple (and maybe more than one rescued cat). These sweet romances will leave you with the warm, fuzzy feeling of cuddling a purring cat.

If you enjoy friends to lovers tropes, work romances, military heroes, and strong heroines completely failing at playing the matchmaker, check out Coffee and Crushes at the Cat Café. You’ll also find rescue cats with plenty of personality and their own desire for love.

Why do you write about a cat café?

I’ve noticed lots of sweet, small-town romance series involving dogs, but few with cats. I think it’s because dogs clearly bring people together – think dog parks, walking your dog, obedience training – while cats don’t.

Until you consider cat cafés. These are a relatively recent trend, but you can now find dozens and dozens of cat cafés all around the world. Typically they partner with a shelter, so all the cats you can visit are available for adoption. This gives visitors a chance to spend more quality time with the cats before they choose one. Those of us who can’t keep a cat in the home for whatever reason can at least visit some.

Are the cats important characters?

The Cat Café series features lots of shelter cats who live at the café while waiting for adoption. In each book, one or more find their permanent homes. Merlin appeared in the first book as one of many cats named. He quickly developed a distinct personality and became a reader (and author) favorite.

In Kittens and Kisses at the Cat Café, the lead characters start fostering five struggling kittens. Merlin escapes the main café room where the cats are supposed to be contained and makes his way to the office. He mews at the door until Marley lets him in and then jumps on the desk and into the box of foster kittens. As Marley notes, he volunteers to be a nanny. The kittens see him as their surrogate mama.

He finds his permanent home in book 3, Tea and Temptation at the Cat Café, but he still comes back as a regular visitor.

Do you have cats?

No. I’m writing a series about a cat café. But I don’t have cats. Huh?

I love cats. I have known cats and enjoyed them in small doses. But tragically, I am very allergic to cats, so I cannot let one keep me as a servant. (I’m getting allergy shots, so maybe that will change in the future. All hail our fluffy overlords!) In the meantime, I will write about a cat cafe, which gives me a chance to look at lots of pictures and videos of adorable cats and kittens.

Instead, my husband and I keep ferrets. They are similar to cats in some ways. When they play, they are as rambunctious as kittens. Like adult cats, they sleep most of the time. Princess Pandemonium (Panda) and Teddy Black Bear (Bear Bear) provide us with lots of amusement, snuggles, and cute photos for social media.

What was your journey to publication?

I wrote my first novel, The Well of Sacrifice, shortly after finishing grad school, while I was looking for work as a magazine editor. I loved books such as Julie of the Wolves and Island of the Blue Dolphins growing up and wanted to do a similar young adventure story. The novel is set in Mayan times, inspired by a summer I spent traveling through Mexico and Central America. Astonishingly, I sold the book! This gave me the mistaken impression that having a writing career wasn’t so hard. I have since written many novels that I haven’t sold, but I’ve managed to make a career of writing by focusing on more steady moneymakers such as educational publishing.

Around 2008, I was feeling restless and wanted a change. I had mostly been reading adult romantic suspense novels, so I started writing those under the name Kris Bock. Desert Gold follows the hunt for a long-lost treasure in the New Mexico desert. In Valley of Gems, estranged relatives compete to reach a buried treasure by following a series of complex clues. Whispers in the Dark features archaeology and intrigue among ancient Southwest ruins. In Counterfeits, stolen Rembrandt paintings bring danger to a small New Mexico town.

So I have over 80 published books now, but that includes fiction and nonfiction, for children and adults. The variety keeps me interested!

Where do you live?

I live in a small town in central New Mexico with my husband and our ferrets. I am a full-time writer, and my home office looks out on nature, complete with distracting wildlife such as roadrunners and foxes. I take breaks and use my BFA in photography to show Facebook friends how lovely the Southwest is. The only ways to get around are on foot or by car, but it’s such a small town that I can often walk to friends’ houses and rush-hour is less than five minutes.

What else do you have coming up for readers?

I’m writing a series with my brother, scriptwriter Douglas J Eboch, who wrote the original screenplay for the movie Sweet Home Alabama (yes, the movie starring Reese Witherspoon). Our new young adult comedy series features “Felony Melanie,” Jake, and their friends a decade before the events of the movie. It’s a lot of fun to work with a writing partner, especially one I’ve known my whole life.

Book 1 involved a beauty pageant with a mystery and book 2 had Melanie desperate to participate in the local demolition derby. We are now writing book 3, which involves a high school prank war. Readers called the first two books “Laugh out loud funny,” so I guess the fun we have writing it is coming through.

Find the first two books at Amazon US or other e-book retailers. You can check out the series for free if you sign up for our Rom-Com newsletter and get Felony Melanie Destroys the Moonshiner’s Cabin. These first two chapters from the novel Felony Melanie in Pageant Pandemonium stand alone as a short story. In the future, you’ll get fun content about upcoming Felony Melanie novels and other romantic comedy news and links.

Can two lonely people get a second chance at finding love?

Zach may be a best-selling novelist, but it’s been a long time since he’s felt truly alive. In the last six months, he moved to the country, his wife left him, and he was diagnosed with cancer. Now he lives in a haze of treatments, writer’s block, and simply trying to survive each week. But when a pretty woman comes into his favorite café and throws herself down on a padded bench with a groan of despair, he feels something he thought he’d lost long ago: curiosity.

As a veterinarian, Jenna knows both joy and heartbreak. The former she can share with her clients. The latter she keeps to herself. She learned one lesson from her ex-husband: Men don’t want to deal with your emotions. It’s odd to have a stranger ask about her problems. It’s even more of a shock when he offers to solve one of them by fostering the sick kitten abandoned by its owners.

Zach and Jenna bond over kitten care and build a close friendship. Could they have more? Zach is finally starting to hope for a future, ideally one that includes Jenna, but he can’t move forward until he’s dealt with his past.
