Some chit chat.

I am so sick and tired of rain!

Every morning I get up and face this

raining photo: raining raining.gif

It’s rained so much my lawnmower man can’t mow the grass and it’s getting so thick and tall. Looks like a wild field right now.

I miss the sunshine, the heat of it on my skin. I just bought some new sunglasses and haven’t had a chance to wear them. It’s clouds and rain, rain and clouds. At least it’s warm out.

I can always tell when the next batch of thunderstorms is about to blow in. The wind picks up and about blows me away! rain photo: rain thm4.gif

If you’ve ever been in the south during one of these storms, you know how horrible they can be, and how scary. The thunder is so loud it shakes the house on its foundation and the windows rattle like they are going to jump out of their frames.

Then you hear the approaching rain, loud, almost deafening as it reaches you. In no time the yard is flooded.

With the severe drought on the west coast, I wish I could send them some of this rain. They sure need it and Oh how I long for the sun!

Sorry if I’m whining. LOL Let’s look at the bright side. With all of the rainy days, I did get a lot of reading done and blogging ahead. Got lots to share about books today!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

  1. Liza Barrett says:

Sorry to hear about your foul weather! I’m FROM The midwest, where we got some pretty viscous thunder storms in tornado season, and I actually really miss them. I’ve lived in Washington for the past almost-3 years and we just don’t get that kind of weather. But we do get LOTS of rain. Just not this year. It’s weird. I’m sorry we passed the precipitation on to you! Hopefully it clears up soon!

  2. Jenna @ Rather Be Reading YA says:

I mowed last week for the first time this season and it was horrible. The mower blade kept getting clogged up with grass and I had to get a stick and clean it all out.

I downloaded a few of the freebies you linked. Thanks!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s going to have to be a commercial heavy duty lawnmower for my yard. A regular rider will clog up like yours. Have fun with the new reads!

  3. Yes, rainy days are good for reading. But I hope you get some sun soon. Maybe borrow a goat or a horse to help trim the grass? As usual, you have lots of books I need to go check out, you are bad for my pile. 😀

    Have a good week!

  4. I actually kind of like those storms especially as long as they don’t turn into tornadoes! We got one in the middle of the night this week and it was still storming in the morning. It was kind of frustrating that the roads had some flooding though. Have a great week!

  5. jenniferbielman says:

    Thanks for the mention. 🙂

  6. oh my, Laura! I hope you’ll see the sun next week! Having only rain is so depressing!

You got a lot of new and great-looking books this week! We are Watching looks really creepy. I hope you’ll enjoy all your new acquisitions, Have a great week ahead.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It looks like we’ll be getting sunshine this week!
I plan to start We Are Watching this week. Very hopeful about it.

  7. Heidi says:

Usually I am the one tired of rain here in Oregon, but we have had a mild winter. A bit more rain this last few weeks, but I won’t complain because I don;t want to be like California. Hopefully the sunshine will find you soon. You have such an variety of books up there. Hope they are all good ones.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It was such a dreary week. So glad it looks like the weather is finally clearing up:)
And I love to mix up genres. Keeps reading fresh:)

  8. Dagny says:

The sun is supposed to be out in my area on Tuesday! Already looking forward to it, lol.

A Pirate Looks at Forty caught my eye because it’s the title of a Jimmy Buffett song.

  9. Lola says:

I hope the rain stops soon! We had sun most of this week, so I’ll try to send it your way for a bit. Those storms in the south sound creepy! I don’t like storms or thunder, they always make me scared. I hope next week has better weather there! Have a great week and enjoy your new books.

  10. katarguelles says:

I hope you get some sun soon and I wish you could send the rain over here! In Northern CA it’s been so warm and we need the rain!

Thanks for posting all the freebies! I grabbed the books from Jason Morrow. It sounds like an interesting series and I need something different to read.

I hope the weather gets better and enjoy all your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I stumbled on Marrow’s books while looking for freebies to add to my post. I spend a lot of time looking for new authors and different genres.
Sunshine is on the menu for this week!

  11. I am quite happy to send you my sun, I really don’t care how much you take 🙂

Good haul this week, I’ve opened some of the freebies, I just need to check their availability in the UK.

    Check out my haul

  12. Christy says:

Yes, can you please send some of that rain here to California. Like 50-60 of those storms just to get us a bit closer to even on the water table. Hope you enjoy your books.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I wish I could! My sister just came back from Vegas and she mentioned on green it was there. Strange, when they visited the dam and the water was so low. I hope you get some rain:)

  13. Might not be getting as much rain as you but we have been having lots of rain here too. All last week it rained at least once every day and some times it was a down pour rain..we got rain today too as next week we are suppose to get more rain..this always happens here and then in July and August when we need it for crops..nothing. 🙁

I ended up with some of those freebies!!! LOL We like to many of the same types of books so I always know I will be getting some of them. 🙂

    Have a great week,
    Stormi

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s normal to have a downpour every afternoon here. It pours, quits, and dries up fast. This has been different and I miss the sun. Supposed to come out today though!
Enjoy the freebies. I found some promising ones.

  14. Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace says:

I hope the rain eases up and you get plenty of sun soon!
    Enjoy your reads, awesome haul!!

    Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace

  15. Be sure and pick up The Lie by Ashley Fontainne. I have read it, just need to write the review. It is going to be a movie, Foreseen. Check it out!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I missed The Lie. Thought I grabbed it when I added it to my post. I need to read it before the movie so I added it to my wish list and will watch for a sale. Looking forward to your review.

  16. Sorry to hear about all the rain; I hope you get some sunshine soon! We’ve had days of gorgeous weather but the rain blew in yesterday afternoon and stayed all night. It’s clearing now, though.

I need to check out your review of the Lavenes’ books; they are usually fun reads!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The sun came out today and it was in the 70s. No humidity either. Just gorgeous!
I loved the Taxi For The Dead series and can’t wait for more. I’ve read a couple of their series’ and always enjoy them.

  17. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) says:

we were lucky over the weekend. We had lovely weather on Saturday and did the lawn work (partly why I didn’t do a Sunday post this week either.) Hope the rain stops for you, but maybe you can get a few more pages read with the rain too. 😉

  18. I feel for you with all the storms, Laura. We haven’t had any bad thunderstorms yet this year, but I’m not so happy when we do get them. We’ve had quite a bit of rain, but also have had quite a bit of sun in between which I love.

Beneath has an interesting, but kind of scary cover…LOL. I hope you enjoy all your books.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I like rainy days now and then. Just not day after day after day. LOL Sunny and beautiful out now and should be all week.
Beneath is very interesting and I want to color the cover. LOL

  19. atothewr says:

We had a storm here in North Carolina last week that had to be one of the most violent storms I have ever been in. It went on for about 4 hours, rain, house shaking thunder, crazy stuff.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It wasn’t quite that bad here but it did seem like it would never stop raining. Makes me wonder how we’ll do this hurricane season. It’s been 11 years since Ivan.
      Glad you didn’t blow away!
