Welcome to The Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice.

This is a really fun meme!

The only rules are to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader and find a sentence or a few (no spoilers) that grabs you and post it.

Then go over to Freda’s Voice and leave your link so we can visit your 56!

My 56 for this week is from

The Wolf Gift

  The Wolf Gift Chronicles #1

by Anne Rice

Genre: Fantasy

My 56 from the paperback.

“I don’t know what they’re giving you here, but I could swear your eyes are actually a deeper shade of blue.”

“That’s impossible,” he said. “Eyes don’t change color.”

Read on if you want to know more.

When Reuben Golding, a young reporter on assignment, arrives at a secluded mansion on a bluff high above the Pacific, it’s at the behest of the home’s enigmatic female owner. She quickly seduces him, but their idyllic night is shattered by violence when the man is inexplicably attacked—bitten—by a beast he cannot see in the rural darkness. It will set in motion a terrifying yet seductive transformation that will propel Reuben into a mysterious new world and raise profound questions. Why has he been given the wolf gift? What is its true nature–good or evil? And are there others out there like him?

Leave your link and I’ll drop by your 56.

Until the next time….

I looked at this book so many times before I finally picked it up. I loved her vampire novels and love shifters. Don’t know why I waited so long.

  3. I don’t think I have read this one. Have to check. Always nice to see an Anne Rice book bandied about. :-)

You probably have it, Sherry. We both read a bunch of her books. It was fun trying to guess which house was hers in N.O.!

  8. billbrarian says:

I actually have not read any of her stuff. I think I’ll have to take a look at them.

  9. Bev Hankins says:

Love your 56! Thanks for stopping by mine. :-)

  10. I don’t do werewolves, or were-anything for that matter, but I love Anne Rice, so you never know. :)

    • fuonlyknew says:

I used to prefer watching movies about them more than reading. Now, I enjoy them either way. Must say, I prefer the bad ones over the romantic ones.

  11. Carey says:

My favorite of hers is The Witching Hour. I fell in love with New Orleans thanks to her books.

    • fuonlyknew says:

That was a good one. I was in New Orleans and took a trolley ride. Tried to spot her house, but not sure if I found the right one. She sure does get the essence of the town.

  12. LadyD Piano says:

Terrified with the cover art! lol You’re very brave! :-) Happy reading!

  13. Tea says:

Did she nurse him first or seduce him first? Can’t imagine a wolf bite.

  14. Anne Rice can do no wrong in my books! She’s an amazing writer … I never knew she had this series. What a terrifying cover!

  15. I have seen and planned to read many of her books but somehow never picked one before.. the 56 is perfect and makes me curious.. thank you for visiting me too

    • fuonlyknew says:
