This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

Iā€™m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

What????? It’s freezing! How can that be? I live on the Gulf Coast and we’re not used to such cold weather.

Check this out. Even when the sun finally shone down, this ice didn’t melt. Crazy!

xmas-and-snow-018

The wind is howling, so cold your cheeks feel frozen. I braved the weather and went to the grocery store.Ā  I know, I sound like a wimp. Just not used to such cold temps.

The only smart ones were my dog and cat!

xmas-and-snow-016

They snuggled up on the comforters and pillows on the couch.

What’s funny is the temps will be back up in the 70s by Tuesday. At least we have that. The cold snaps usually only last a couple of days and then warmer weather returns. I’m already watching the sunsets and checking the time. Watching as each day gets a little bit longer and longing for spring. LOL

  1. Greg Hill says:

Yikes it got chilly down there? It’s snowing here (well not at the moment but on and off all day) and it’s pretty cold- I could use some 70’s. šŸ™‚ Pretty picture of the ice though.

The breedling and The City in the Garden sounds interesting!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s still only in the 20s right now. Crazy stuff. I loved the ice. Such a pretty pattern:) And it’s still there too. LOL

  2. The weather people have been threatening a month long mega cold snap that will set new records…and they’ve been predicting it since the end of November! As winters go, we’ve had a mild one with only a few really cold days, so that’s ok with me. They always predict bitter winters and hot summers and we seem to get neither! Enjoy all your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

We’ve not had a lot of cold days but these couple of days are ridiculously cold. LOL Longing for spring!!!

  3. I am I glad we could share some of this cold weather with you…lol. Here is Missouri the last three days have been only in the 20’s with the lows in single digits, but now we are going back up this week will be in the 50’s and 60’s…I think mother nature is on something…lol.

    Enjoy your new books!

  4. Mandy Sickle says:

Looks like you’ve had a great week. I’m not a fan of the cold either but it’s only been in the 50s so I can’t complain. My dogs seem to be all about snuggling under the blankets when it’s cold out. I loved Undead fun zombie story. I hope it warms up for you and you enjoy all your exciting new books. My Sunday Post Ā

    • fuonlyknew says:

It was a good week, except for the frigid cold. LOL I’m reading Undead now. It’s going good. I do love my zombies.

  5. sjhigbee says:

Oh my goodness – it’s colder where you are than it is here. Though it’s dank and chilly and we DON’T have the promise of significantly higher temperatures later in the month. Like you, I’m now ready for summer. Or at least spring – rather than the worst of the winter weather which inevitably comes during January and February…
You started the year really well with your reading, Laura – I hope it continues to be fab and that you have a great week snuggled up by the fire:)

  6. Occult Paris has me curious. I love the frozen leaf like crystals. It has been sooo cold here that even in the house I am dressed in layer after layer. Hope you see milder temps this week and that your next read delivers 5 stars!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I won Occult Paris and can’t wait to start reading it. The pattern for the ice is so pretty. It finally melted. LOL

  7. charliegirl says:

Our Texas weather certainly lost the memo somewhere. I do not like the cold snaps, either. We braved the grocery store Friday night, went on a walk yesterday and went to the movies. It was bitterly cold. Dropped 10 degrees from the time we left the house for the walk and came back in an hour’s time. So glad the weather will warm up again this week.

Sweet Lake looks like my kind of read! I hope you enjoy your new ones.

  8. Deborah says:

I can’t imagine such cold weather Laura. I’ve only seen snow once and I’m not sure it was that cold then anyway.

I had to laugh about the TWO Ink and Bone books. I had two books with the same name recently and it was weird. Though they were VERY different!

  9. katarguelles says:

Even though it is cold that picture is really pretty. But that is crazy how it will warm up in a couple days for you. Here the cold weather has been consistent, which is nice, but I can’t wait for flip flop weather again lol. I hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It is pretty! It’s starting to warm up now. 70s this week and 80s next week. Out weather is so up and down in the winter.

  10. My brother lives in Florida and was keeping his pipes from freezing for hours. Hopeit warms up quickly. Have a great reading week.

  11. Whoa, that ice is crazy! I don’t think you sound like a wimp, I was complaining about the cold here today and have my space heater on right now, and we didn’t even have ice lol. Have a great week!

  12. Berls says:

We got snow too šŸ™ I’m not one for cold weather, even though I had to brave it. But I’m also watching for the spring to come back. Thankful we should be in the 70s this week!

    Enjoy your new books šŸ™‚

  13. Katherine P says:

I’m not enjoying this cold either! I refuse to leave the house when the temps are below freezing unless the house is actually on fire. We won’t be up in the 70s in a few days but it won’t be quite so cold so I’m very much looking forward to that. So many fantastic books! Occult Paris and Sweet Lake both look really good. Have a great week!

  14. That ice picture is so pretty though. It was really cold where I live this weekend and even though I expect it some, I still hate it. Everyone in the house pretty much lived under blankets all weekend. Living in a 117 year old house doesn’t help either. They may be built strong, but there isn’t a lot if extra padding between those walls! I love the looks of The Breeding…book.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I used to live in an old farm house and it was always cold. Don’t miss that. But I do have some great books to snuggle up on the couch with:)

  15. atothewr says:

We got sleet and snow here on Saturday and we have not been able to leave the house since. End of the week will be in the 70’s. Crazy weather .

  16. We know it’s cold when our bird bath freezes. The fact that it stayed that way throughout the day…oh boy is that cold! Hope you have a great week. ~Aleen

  17. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) says:

lol. Oh wow! You are getting the cold down there as well. Wow! Do hope you have a lovely week and it warms up for you. šŸ™‚

  18. The ice looks like a piece of art, Laura! Very nice šŸ™‚ It’s snowing like crazy here today, and so, people forget how to drive.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL I would probably be one of those drives. Glad I don’t have to find out. It’s been a long time since I drove in the snow.

  19. We finally are having some snow and cold weather and I am loving i…I miss the Winters I remember as a child.

  20. buffywnabe says:

My dogs have that same blanket! I loved Undead, hope you enjoy it as well. Looks like some good books. We had snow last week, but it only was enough to cause inconveniences for me. I still had to drive to work. Hope you have a great week! And thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post on Lisa Loves Literature!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, they love to snuggle up together. Lucky critters. LOL It’s warm now. Feels like spring. But I’m not fooled. We usually get several more cold snaps before warm weather arrives to stay.

  21. How funny! I’m in Chicago, so your little bit of ice looks downright inviting to me. Though it actually warmed up yesterday and it rained instead of snowing! Right now it’s icy, but we finally got rid of all that snow on the ground!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. LOL I feel kind of funny even mentioning it when so many people are buried in snow. It’s just not that common for the cold to reach this far south.

  22. Better late than never????? šŸ™‚
    sherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes

  23. What a cool ice picture! (Pun intended.) We had a bitterly cold weekend with some snow, too, but it’s finally warmed back up. Also, great idea to review the two Ink and Bone books side-by-side!
