AQUA
by M.A. George
Synopsis
Meet Layla McKelland:
Novelist (unpublished, but cut her some slack…seventeen is a bit early to despair), Slightly neurotic introvert (Alright, let’s be honest…there’s no “slightly” about it), International Woman of Mystery, and…
Okay, just scratch the bio.
The only real “mystery” in Layla’s life is why her father has never been on the scene. Or why her mother drags Layla to a new coastal home every year.
Nothing about the latest hometown seems too newsworthy…until a routine day at the beach leaves Layla questioning whether she’s read one too many paranormal fantasy novels. The plot thickens when a random guy claims to know things about her father—a bizarre claim he backs up with an equally impossible stunt. And Layla soon finds herself on the wrong side of a mysterious attempted drowning…on her own kitchen floor.
When all is done, Layla will attest that fact is far stranger than fiction. And nothing in real life is ever as transparent as it seems…Not even water.
Especially not water.

Synopsis
Ten Years Later…
Jillian Atford is a successful psychologist with a lavish office in Center City Philadelphia. Despite overcoming past trauma and anguish, she cannot shake loose from the feeling that her newest client reminds her of someone.
Lyla Kyle, an accomplished artist, lives a rather quiet life–except for nights when she lures married men into her tangled web and murders them, all in a never-ending quest to avenge her mother. Yet, the nightmares of her mother’s death prove unrelenting, leading her to seek professional help.
Jason Brighthouse Jr. is a young Philadelphia police officer who lives in his father’s shadow and is troubled by the constant ridicule that surrounds his ambition. As he sets out to make peace with his colleagues, he remains confident that the key to their respect lies in his ability to connect the recent spate of suspicious deaths to a certain dark-haired temptress. In a turn of events, he justifiably takes a man’s life while off-duty. Mandatory leave requires him to obtain psychological clearance prior to returning to the force.
As current circumstances bring them together and the truth of their pasts unfolds, who will be left standing?
Three lives. Three deaths connect them. The present unites them.
So, whatcha readin?
The one you’re reading now sounds like a good one – and the other two sound rather disturbing. My reading list is here: http://justasecondblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/www-wednesdays-september-17-2014.html
Aqua is a lot of fun. Eating Sarah is a bit disturbing but very interesting. And Bllod in the Paint, I can’t wait to read. The first book blew me away and this is a longer book.
Loving these! Eating Sarah looks great. I might have to get that for my Horror month 🙂
Eating Sarah is odd and I like that. I chose it for my horror list and going to have fun with my review!
oh “Eating” sounds good. I’m going to have to check that one out!
trish – my www
It is good, and creepy. It hooked me right away!
Eating Sarah sounds interesting. I have a thing about reading books with the main character having the same name is me!
As long as you aren’t on the menu. LOL
I haven’t heard of any of these but each one sounds like quite a find. I’m most interested in Blood in the Paint. Thanks for visiting my WWW http://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2014/09/17/www-wednesday-september-17/
If you read Blood in the Paint, there is a prequel, not too long of a book, called Blood in the Past that introduces the characters and the beginning of the story. It is so good!
Hmmmm, all of those sound good, Laura. Eating Sarah sounds especially creepy, yet intriguing. Very original plot! But I have a daughter named Sarah, so the title is a little hard to . . . swallow. (hahahaha)
I just read Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover, I’m currently reading The Color of Heaven, and I’m not sure what I’ll read next–the possibilities are endless!! Since I won Jubliee’s Journey, I think I’d like to read it next.
Looks like we all like Eating! I can’t wait to hear what you think of Jubilee’s Journey. I adored it! Bette’s writing reminds me of John Grisham with the southern flavor and situations. Her characters are so real!
I think you will love Jubilee’s Journey, Taylor. I have read Slammed by Colleen Hoover. She is an excellent writer too. But, now to the WWW. Some nice choices there Laura. I just finished the last book in the Killer Romances boxed set. Whew! It’s 4AM and my eyes are crossed, so I feel a nap in the very near future. LOL
sherry @ fundinmental
Dang girl! You’ve read the entire set already? I bet your eyes are on fire. LOL I’m getting ready to start The Deadly Dozen!
You are right, they are burning! But I just read on. I am reading A Hidden Element right now and need to finish my review for a Human Element, then I can start on The Deadly Dozen. LOL I am really looking forward to it.
Your books selection sounds creepy! I haven’t read any of them but Aqua caught my eye. I’m checking that out on Goodreads. Enjoy your books!
Thanks for droppin by my Wednesday post!
Michelle, The Escapist
