This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

He’s getting old and cranky. We’ve never really seen eye to eye. And I’m ready for a change. It’s time for someone new. But what to do with him? He’s still functional. Still handy. I could smash him with a hammer. It would feel good, for a while. Then I’d feel ashamed….sad, wonder why I didn’t keep him around for emergencies. I better think about it.

Guess what! I’m getting a new computer. A new engine to drive my thoughts and ideas. Yes, I refer to my old computer as a he. Didn’t give him a name though. We’re like Venus and Mars in a lot of ways. LOL But he kept going and going, so I’m thinking I’ll keep him. Just in case.

What do you do with your old computer? Do you laugh maniacally as you smash it to bits like you wanted to so many times? Or do you keep it?

And did I get you in the beginning? What did you think I was referring to, or whom?

  1. I have my old laptop sitting around as well. It gave too many black screens of death before giving in to the final blue screen last January. What do you do with them? Happy puter hunting, I hope you get something you love!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I picked a different brand so we’ll see. It looks friendly. LOL I still have my first laptop, stuffed in the closet. LOL

  2. I’ve been having some Bigfoot fun of my own with the Bigfoot War book which I LOVED! I can’t wait to watch the dvd now! Just had to order all the other books in the series now…Hope the computer works well. I had my fair share of issues with mine last year and it’s a total pain when it happens.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah. I plan to grab the series too. I’m going to search for other Bigfoot stories too. Can’t wait for my computer. I checked out a lot of them and hope I made the right choice.

  3. sjhigbee says:

Thank you so much for your kind words, Laura regarding my publishing deal – I’ve been really bowled over by how pleased folks have been on my behalf – it’s been humbling and very warming:)). As regards the computer – I finally upgraded mine last June and now I have one with a solid state C drive. I don’t know myself – no hanging around waiting for it to fire up – it’s so FAST I can get so much more done. Wish I’d done earlier:). As for the old one – it’s under the spare bed, ‘just in case’. Though I’m not sure exactly what…

    • fuonlyknew says:

You’re most welcome, Sarah! I imagine you are over the top excited. Let me know when I can get me a copy! My computer is still working but my provider is no longer going to support my version of Windows and it’s getting so slow. I figured I better act now.

  4. Ha that was funny! Yay for a new computer. I have all my old ones in a closet because I don’t know what to do with them. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Gitcha! LOL I have this one and another one for back up and then a couple that are dead deals. I always like to have a back up, just in case. And the other is a small one for traveling.

  5. Oh a new computer!! I actually sell my old ones. But, I have MacBooks, so they are really high value and easy to sell. When I have replaced them though they still work…I just replace them because I want a new one…

    • fuonlyknew says:

I keep a back up and the others aren’t working so can’t sell them. I should have got a new one a while ago. Just didn’t know what to get and was watching for some good deals.

  6. Thanks for the freebies. I’ll check them out. 😀

My ex-boyfriend decided to give up on me last year, so I moved on. But, even though I’ve had a new Partner. A way better partner that I can count on and never disappoint me, I’m still missing him. You know, my old boyfriend. But deep down in my heart I know he’s not coming back. He just wanted to rest forever. 🙁 😉

I hope you enjoy your new read. Happy reading and have a great week. 😀

  7. I believe I still all my old computers. At the moment my newer old one (does that make sense?) my daughter uses. I spend a lot of time on my laptop.

Look at all those books! I need to check some of those out! 🙂 Congrats on the new computer. Have a great week, Laura! Happy Reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I did that with my son too. Now he has a newer one and I’m waiting for mine. Supposed to be here Monday. We’ll both have a back up one now too.

  8. Wow, busy week! And you totally got me with that hook – I was so intrigued, lol 😉
Urgh, computers. They’re such a pain, and yet what would I do without them? Love-hate relationship to say the least!

Happy reading for the week ahead 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I didn’t plan it. I happened to realize I never mentioned what “he” was and decided to have some fun. LOL

  9. Katherine P says:

We typically wipe our old computers and then smash the hard drives and just dispose of them but my husband is a serious minimalist and hates keeping things around. I thought you were talking about a car! I’ve had a few where I’ve thought stuff like that about them! Have a great week!

  10. When I got a new computer two years ago, I kept my old one even though it made terrible noises and the trackpad didn’t work and it was all sorts of screwed up. But then my new computer broke and was apparently unfixable and I’ve been using my old computer for like a year now, just with a separate monitor and keyboard and mouse, so keeping it turned out to be a smart decision!

I figured from the first sentence you were talking about something inanimate lol, but it was entertaining nonetheless! I wonder if anyone got concerned that you were about to commit murder 😛

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL I’m sure we’ve all felt like doing murder at some time or other. I hope everyone reads the whole comment.

  11. I thought you were talking about your ereader! We don’t usually give up on our computers until they’re really toast for one reason or another. At that point, we take them somewhere that recycles them (usually after removing the hard drive, so we’re not giving away our data.) At this point, we’ve got my old laptop hanging around even though I’ve gotten a new one. The new one is because my old one’s keyboard went really flaky; the space bar and M only worked sporadically. The old one we kept as a backup. If, heaven forbid,my new one were to die in the middle of a job (I freelance), I could plug the old one into a keyboard and monitor and use it to finish the job.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I still have my first Kindle, even though it’s glitchy. I hate to throw something out if it still kind of works. My computer is old and twitchy and I figured I better act now. Didn’t want to feel that panic if it quit on me.

  12. Yay, for the new computer! I seem to keep mine and I have a bunch of them, some times I find someone who wants one to work on and I am like here take it…lol. Have a bunch of monitors, keyboards, etc stashed here and there and really need to just find a home for them…lol.

    Happy reading!

  13. Sometimes I would like to throw my computer out the window, but alas I can never bring myself to do that. LOL ~Aleen

  14. karen blue says:

I totally thought you were venting about your man. Lol! I usually just smash my old computer and get out some frustrations. What else was I suppose to do with it?
I hope you enjoy your new book. Have a great week!

  15. At first I thought you were talking about an old pet until the hammer thing. Ha ha. Both times we have gotten new computers someone has wanted the old ones, so I have never had to think about it. I loved the kid’s books this week and I will be dropping back around for your Mr. Monster post. Have a wonderful week. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL I was wondering what people would think! I’ll probably hang on to this old dinosaur for a back up. But I do have another one that’s dead in the water and will do some creative destruction, I’m thinkin!

  16. As long as it works, I would keep it as a backup. Ya just never know.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s not working very well and will soon be obsolete as Firefox will know long support my windows version. It’s old and sure did a good job for me though.

  17. jaclynrcanada says:

I thought you were talking about a phone at first LOL. I have hung on to my old computers for spare parts and just in case. At least that’s what I tell myself. I have a hard time throwing things away that could be useful later on 😀

  18. Greg Hill says:

Don’t Turn on the Light and Monstrous look freaky. And yay for a new computer. 🙂 I have hung onto my old one and it’s downstairs since it’s got a few games and things that for whatever reason don’t work on the new one, due to not being compatible with Windows version or whatever. I had a feeling you weren’t talking about a person lol but I wasn’t thinking computer either. Funny. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I found some good ones this week! Great covers too. Using my new computer now. The old one is obsolete so I won’t be keeping it.

  19. Tracy says:

Hurray for a new computer! That’s always a lot of fun, even if it takes a little adjusting. That new book looks extra creepy! I hope you love it 😀

    Here’s my Weekly Recap!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Using my new one right now. It’s a lot different and different version of Windows so I’ll be playing with it to get comfortable:) The keyboard is very sensitive and the keys are situated differently so I keep hitting wrong keys. LOL

  20. You did kind of get me, but not completely. I didn’t think you’d be heartless enough to leave a human or an animal behind just because he’d gotten old and slow 😉
What kind of computer did you get?
And with the keys situated differently, you can probably change the disposition in your control thing. I use three different keyboards, depending on which language I write in – and that changes some letters and special signs around.
I hope you’re having a great week, Laura!

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL Nope, I wouldn’t be that cold!
It is slowing me down some getting used to how things are situated on the keyboard. I think I’ll like it when I get accustomed to it. Sure is faster!

  21. Yay for a new computer! I hope the transition is a smooth one!

I tend to keep old computers around a little and then when I’m sure I’m done with them I pass them on to whoever needs it.

Hope you’ve had a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I got the new Dell Inspiron. And I am having a bit of a time with the way the keys are situated. Keep hitting the wrong ones. LOL
