This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Some chit chat.

Something new this week and it ain’t good. Hurricane Barry developed in the Gulf and it came into Louisiana over the weekend. I can feel for those folks.  We felt some of those effects here. The Gulf was churning and the outer bands brought some strong rain storms along with coastal flooding, even though we weren’t hit directly by it. Just rain and a lot of it!

I did manage to squeeze in a little pool time earlier in the week. That was nice! Other than that it was work and more work. I need to get a life. LOL

And I’m collecting a lot of scary reads for my 31 Days Of Thrills And Chills feature in October. I review one book a day and have some creepy ones in store for you! I have to start now as that is a lot of books to read and review.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

  1. I feel sorry for the people who have to deal with the hurricane. Let’s hope they are all safe.

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays

  2. I’m starting to work on my autumn reading list so I’ll be planning my horror reads for October in that! The last two years I’ve had dreadful slumps in October so I’m pleading for a good horror month!

  3. sjhigbee says:

Urg. Yes… I might moan about the drizzle and gloomy winter weather, but I also feel for those facing hurricanes and tornadoes. Glad you escaped the worst of it, Laura and here’s hoping the coming week brings more pool time and less work.

    • fuonlyknew says:

The weather is usually gorgeous after a tropical storm comes through. I think I’ll get some pool time:)

  4. I love how you’re already prepping October’s posts! I’ve been thinking of something like that for December but can’t quite bring myself to read festive books before Halloween… Sigh.

I’ve been seeing a lot about the incoming storm/hurricane on the news and am hoping it’s not as bad as predicted for everyone.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I always have to start early fro October and I do have some I grabbed up for Christmas. I actually have some review drafts written for December that I did earlier so I wouldn’t forget. LOL

  5. We’ve been in the new house 2 weeks but have yet for the HOA to contact us or give us pool passes. It is a really nice pool too. I’m sure it is just as hot or hotter there so I won’t whine about the heat.

I enjoyed Hanover House by Brenda Novak. That’s a short prequel. The first book is also free sometimes. I got some at the library and I think the latest for audio review. I’m an equal opportunity book acquirer.Publisher, library, purchase, multiple formats – I do what it takes to read them. lol

Have a great week and hopefully this hurricane season will be a miss.

Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

    • fuonlyknew says:

They need to shake a leg and get you cleared for the pool. It’s such a hot summer this year. I grab books where and when I can too. LOL

  6. Greg says:

I love the sound of your Thrills and Chills feature. To be honest October isn’t that far way and I always look forward to the scarier reads. 🙂

Glad you missed the worst of the storm, but man that looks like a mess in Louisiana. My heart goes out to those folks.

I kinda want that Prehistoric anthology lol.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Time flies so fast and I’ve struggled to keep up with things on the blog. I will be prepared for October. I will! LOL The hurricane wasn’t a huge one but it moved so slow and dumped so much rain. I hope the folks in LA are okay too.

  7. Stormi D Johnson says:

Count wait for your month of horror. 🙂 I am glad to hear things didn’t get to bad for you as I was worried since I know your down that way! Hope that hurricane goes away quick but heard it could get nasty. 🙁

    Have a great week!

    Week in Review

    • fuonlyknew says:

I always love my feature for October. Got some good ones to share! The storm didn’t do much but dump rain on us. I imagine it was a lot worse for LA.

  8. Tammy says:

Reviewing book a day sounds overwhelming! I can see why you’d want to start reading now. I’m looking forward to October😁

    • fuonlyknew says:

I try to have at least half of them reviewed before the end of September so I can take a little more time with the rest. I’ve been doing it a few years now and have a lot of fun. Plus it knocks some off of my TBR list too.

  9. kozbisa says:

Glad you only got the rain. It’s kind of scary seeing storms like that so early in the season

    • fuonlyknew says:

Hurricane season starts June 1st but we’ve actually had some earlier than that. I have my fingers and toes crossed we won’t get hit directly this year!

  10. Hopefully the rain ends soon! And I liked the Hanover House series! It was like Criminal Minds in a book.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love Criminal Minds! Funny thing…I just started rewatching the series last night. So the Hanover House series should be a good fit for me!

  11. Hope the rain ends soon for you. We recently moved back to Florida and hurricanes are one thing I hope we don’t have a lot of this year. Enjoy the new book and happy reading!

  12. Beware Of The Reader says:

OMG Laura I am so glad that the hurricane spared you! And Writing Mr Right was such a fun read honestly! But now …go get a life! LOL

  13. Hope you enjoy all of your new books 🙂

  14. Liliana says:

    Yikes! Stay safe out there!

A lot of those books look really interesting! Now excuse me while I go check a bunch of them out! lol

    Happy reading!

  15. Rachel @Waves of Fiction says:

Glad to hear the weather wasn’t too bad for you. The storms can turn deadly!

Eat, Drink and Be Scary sounds fun. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

We got lucky with this one and I’m hoping we remain lucky through the summer. Cozies have such fun titles, don’t they:)

  16. I hope you remain safe through the rest of the Hurricane season
I can barely think ahead a week, little lone a few months!

    Have a great reading week

  17. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

I was wondering how you were faring with the hurricane. Glad you’re okay!

  18. I hate seeing everyone in the path of Barry and I can’t imagine having to go through something like that. Our weather in WV is wacky but it’s not hurricane like at all. Glad you stayed safe. I can’t wait for your October. Of course, it always makes my TBR/Wishlist grow by leaps and bounds, which I know is probably a side effect for lots of people. I grabbed Turtle Cove too because I couldn’t resist that cover!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love living on the Gulf coast but the storms are something I could live without. Been through some bad ones. Turtle Cove has a great setting and I love the cover too!

  19. I feel for those dealing with a hurricane already. We got sideswiped by two last year here in NC. I don’t want any this year, thankyouverymuch.

I hear ya on stockpiling. I started reading my NetGalley November books in January. lol

  20. Hurricanes are so terrifying and I always feel for those in their path. Surprisingly, we are just starting to feel the effects of Barry here in Ontario this week. It’s amazing how they can continue to move along.

I have a couple of scarier reads lined up this year and I am excited to give them a try. I hope that you love these new to you books. 🙂

  21. Lola says:

I am glad to hear you weren’t directly hit by the storm, but pretty creepy how you still felt it there as well. That’s nice you spent some time in the pool this week.

That makes sense how you have to start in advance with collecting reads for October, that is a lot of reviews in one month.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It was a relief that the storm stayed west of us and the weather afterwards was wonderful. Strange how that happens:) I’m gathering many spooky reads for October. Not hard to do as I love scary books. LOL
