Enjoy this peek inside:

A rumbling sound filled my ears and the ground started tilting and rolling. The light hanging over the dining room table began swaying and the wood mini-blinds rubbing against the windows sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard.

“Amber?” Ava grabbed my hand and held on tight.

“Don’t worry. It’s just an earthquake.” Growing up in Southern California you got used to this kind of thing. “Remember what they taught you at school? Drop, cover, and hold on?”

I pulled her toward the dining room table to hide beneath it, although I was positive by the time we got into position the quake would be over.

We were ten steps away from the table when Ava stopped walking. She yanked my arm and started pulling me backward, toward the family room. I heard the crash of glass breaking on the kitchen tile and was glad I had flip-flops on. Our family portrait fell from the dining room wall, the glass splintering from the black frame sent shards of glass flying across the room. A small piece caught my ankle, sending a sting up my leg.

“Knock it off, shrimp. We need to get under the table right now!” While I had been in several earthquakes, this felt different. It wasn’t slowing or stopping, like I thought it would. I didn’t want to admit it, but I was scared. Could this be the “big one” grownups talked about?

Instead of letting me lead her toward the dining table, Ava began pulling me harder toward the family room. With my feet sliding on the slick tile, I couldn’t stop.

“What’s that?” I had never heard my sister screech like that before, so I turned around to see what she was talking about.

The small fragments of the Sweet Treats board game were hovering in midair, swirling in a circle, going faster and faster. The floor tilted us toward the flying pieces, and we were slipping toward the growing whirlwind. The edge of the vortex was expanding outward at a rapid rate, while the center was a dark, black hole. It looked like a giant vacuum hose, and it was sucking us toward it.

My terrified sister started screaming, clinging to my legs. “Do something, Amber!”

I started shrieking as I tripped over Ava, and we were pulled head first into the middle of the vortex.

I strode back to the coffee table and pressed the off button on the remote. Instantly the TV went blind and silent, like a lopped-off head. But I didn’t make it to my bedroom. Before I could take another step, I saw it again, that flitting movement near the recliner. This time there was an accompanying noise—the unmistakable rustling of clothing.

I turned in dread, and at long last there was something to see. I felt the briefest flicker of triumph—Ha! Caught you!—before the horror of the situation thumped me in the chest.

My dad’s jacket had come to life. It was floating in the air beside the recliner, puffy and solid as if inhabited by a body. The sleeves were waving: Hey, look at me!

I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t move. My vision darkened as if I was going to pass out, but if I did, that would be the end of me, because that thing would come over and strangle me. It was a disembodied jacket. It couldn’t be up to any good.

The jacket’s sleeves reached down. They bent at the elbows. Up went the jacket’s zipper with a z-z-zip sound.

Somehow I managed to draw in a big, rasping breath, and I screamed. I screamed loudly enough to wake the Halloween dead.

Then I ran for the front door.

Discover what happens when a young woman
unexpectedly finds herself inside a book of fairytales where she is charged
with breaking a frog prince’s curse and searching for a way home.

Every good fairytale begins with “Once Upon a Time,” or
they’re supposed to at least. But for twenty-five year old Josephine Hart, her
Once Upon a Time” began with her literally crash
landing inside a book of fairy tales and nearly crushing a frog—who is actually
a prince. An annoying, snarky frog prince named Aneurin, seeking the kiss of
true love to break his curse. He vows that if Jo agrees to help him find his
princess, he will get her home.

With every turn of the page, their adventure leads them deeper into fairytales
familiar to Jo. Through their journey, they discover that despite their initial
clashing, they’re both exactly what each other needs. It is only when they
encounter a devious man with a talent for spinning straw into gold that they
realize just how quickly their plot can take an unexpected twist.

 .

Enjoy this peek inside Until the Last Page:

“Surely, you must be from the southern lands. Just look at your attire,” the frog continued,
lifting a small hand towards me.

I couldn’t help but notice the way his knobby little fingers were webbed together. I slid
my gaze down to my white knotted top and jeans shorts before lifting my eyes
back to the frog.

The creature’s eyes remained transfixed on me, as if I was the one from a foreign
country.

            “These are my clothes.”

            “As I can see. Such attire must come from the Southern Lands,” it replied before adding, “where the peasants get their clothes from the rag bin.”

Now, this animal was just offensive.

            You’re a frog,” I retorted, as though that should have been enough to refute his insult. This was
going on record as one of the most bizarre dreams I’d ever had in my life. As a
child, I’d always dreamed of possessing the ability to speak with animals, just
as nearly every fairytale princess could. But this…this was not what
I imagined—a creature of such small, slimy stature, commenting so rudely on my
attire.

            “For now,” he responded. “And you’re just a girl who nearly drowned me.”

            “I thought the water would help you,” I replied quickly, biting the inside of my cheek.

The frog crossed its arms against its chest. It was weird that he not only talked like a
human, but acted like one, too.

            “As I said, I nearly drowned thanks to you,” the frog scowled.

            “Well, I’m sorry,” I quipped, rolling my eyes. I couldn’t believe I was having this conversation, with a frog, nonetheless.

            “Perhaps we could start with
introductions,” the frog continued, rising to his feet. Unable to hide my
astonishment at his ability to stand on two legs, I just stared.

            “Uhh…”

“Is that your way of agreeing?” he asked. “Or is that your name?”

“I’m not giving you my name,” I replied, shaking my head.

            “And why not?”

            “It doesn’t really matter, does it?” I looked down at him, incredulous.

The frog frowned at my hesitation. “Have you forgotten it?”

“No, I haven’t forgotten it,” I snapped, shaking my head.

It was my cousin who did it.

Well, kind of.

I mean, he really did it, but he’s not really my cousin. He’s actually my father’s cousin’s daughter’s husband; Zayn. I also have two other cousins called Zain, but they had nothing to do with it. Probably.

I was over at my uncle’s house, and I snuck out for a smoke. Big house, big garden, big dinner party, so nobody noticed. That’s where I saw Zayn in the library with the gun. I only saw it for a moment before he wrapped it up. I thought if a guy like that had a gun, he was definitely going to use it for something later on.

He didn’t see me, thank goodness. I probably should have said something to somebody, but who would listen to me? I am the Devil, after all, and Satan is the father of lies. The only person who talked to me was my brother, and if I said anything to that idiot, he’d probably be dead now. So yeah, I got out of town, and went on vacation.

That’s why it annoys me that I get the blame. If they were planning this whole thing then, how can I be the cause of all the trouble now?

The point is that you may be right when you say life can go real nuts sometimes.

Enjoy this exclusive peek inside:

“Alex!”

Mary’s usually kind face looked impatient, and he jerked to his feet. From her tone, she’d probably been calling him for some time. “Yes, ma’am?”

“Sarah hasn’t come in yet, and Becca and I have our hands full with another shipment. Will you read to the children today?” At the look of panic probably on his face, she smiled encouragingly. “Now, don’t be afraid,” she said as she took his arm, giving it a motherly pat. “It’s only three chapters of Lone Wolf. When you’re done, you can let them have cookies.”

She guided him to the room where every Saturday afternoon during summer the bookstore hosted a reading for kids who had nothing better to do. Before Alex could draw a breath, she pushed him onto a stool and pressed a book into his hands. He gaped as she abandoned him in front of an audience of expectant children.  A dozen kids of various ages sat on a rug at his feet. He gave them a quick glance and then opened the book to the marked page.

The light radiating from the children hurt his eyes, and it took him a moment to focus on the print. The children stirred restlessly in the awkward silence until he cleared his throat. As he began to read, even Brian Edwards stopped hitting his neighbor to listen.

Alex’s voice grew low and intense as he immersed himself in the story. His tone became so expressive that the more sensitive children seemed able to see the action unfold behind their eyes, same as he could.

He reached the end of the second chapter safely and began to hope he might make it through the rest without mishap. He turned the page to continue, but then a shadow appeared on the paper. He rubbed his eyes, wanting it to be his imagination, but the shadow spread across the print. He struggled to ignore it for a few more sentences, but the growing darkness teased his eyes away from the page. He spotted the source instantly: a boy near the door whose black aura coiled tightly around his body.

The blackness seeped from the boy until it dimmed the brightness of the other children.

“Rabbit,” Alex whispered in horror, his eyes going wide. In his mind, he saw a rabbit tied to a board in a dark place, its paws bound with gray tape. A scalpel glittered in the boy’s trembling hand. With his gaze intent on the heaving chest of the helpless creature, the boy licked his lips in anticipation of doing something cruel.

Alex’s sharp whimper of distress broke the unnerving stillness in the room. He covered his face to wipe the disturbing image from his mind.

About Author Dianne Hartsock:

.

Dianne grew up in one of the older homes in the middle of Los Angeles, a place of hardwood floors and secret closets and back staircases. A house where ghosts lurk in the basement and the faces in the paintings watch you walk up the front stairs. Rooms where you keep the closet doors closed tight at night. It’s where her love of the mysterious and wonderful came from. Dianne is the author of m/m romance, paranormal/suspense, fantasy adventure, the occasional thriller, and anything else that comes to mind.

She now lives in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon with her incredibly patient husband, who puts up with the endless hours she spends hunched over the keyboard letting her characters play. Dianne says Oregon’s raindrops are the perfect setting in which to write. There’s something about being cooped up in the house with a fire crackling on the hearth and a cup of hot coffee in her hands, which kindles her imagination.

Currently, Dianne works as a floral designer in a locally-owned gift shop. Which is the perfect job for her. When not writing, she can express herself through the rich colors and textures of flowers and foliage.

Book Synopsis

Miss Tiffany Woodall must sleuth the slaying of a footman to clear her beloved’s name in the second Lady Librarian mystery, in the vein of Deanna Raybourn and perfect for fans of Bridgerton.

1784 England. Officially hired as the librarian for the Duchess of Beaufort, Miss Tiffany Woodall is through with masquerades and murders for good. That is, until she stumbles upon the frozen dead body of former footman Mr. Bernard Coram. The speed with which her peaceful new life is upended is one for the record books: the justice of the peace immediately declares her the primary suspect in the murder.

As Tiffany hunts for the truth to clear her name, she learns that Bernard got into a fight over a woman at the local pub the night of his death–but he was also overheard blackmailing Samir. The justice of the peace arrests Samir, and Tiffany realizes that her life may have more in common with a tragic play than a light-hearted romance.

With her love locked up in jail and her own reputation on the line, Tiffany must attempt to solve the murder before the book closes on her or Samir’s life.

~~~~~
Enjoy this peek inside:
It was a man.
            And his body was half covered in snow. Which meant that the corpse was cold and most likely dead. Warm skin melted snow, like the wet on her cheeks that looked like tears. Tiffany stooped down to her knees and saw that the man was very tall. Even face down in the mud, he had to be six feet. Practically a giant. He wore no hat and the back of his head and hair were covered in blood.
            With all of her strength, Tiffany tried to turn the body over. She pushed with her hand and then added her right shoulder until the form slowly turned face up. The legs still tangled stiffly together.
            She knew that face.
            Even muddy and bloody, she would have recognized Mr. Bernard Coram anywhere.
            Tiffany yanked off her wet glove and pressed her hand against his neck. There was no pulse there. His skin was as cold as ice and extremely pale. One of his eyes looked as if it had been blackened. And there were four long scratches on his left cheek. His lips were blue and snow frosted his eyebrows. He’d been dead for many hours.
            While Tiffany had never liked the handsome young man and former footman, she certainly hadn’t wished for his death.
            And what was he doing near her cottage?
            Bristle Cottage was at least a mile from the village of Mapledown and the road in front of her house led to Astwell Palace. The place where he had been dismissed five months previous for his terrible treatment of the Duchess of Beaufort’s adopted son, Mr. Thomas Montague. She recalled that his parent’s farm was somewhere near the village.
            Who or what had killed him?
            Only last year, Tiffany had helped solve her own half brother’s murder and the death of a lady’s maid. They had both been the unintended victims of the late Duke of Beaufort’s efforts to kill his wife and marry his lover. Tiffany had begun to unravel the mystery when she discovered that the two victims had both been given a snuffbox by the Duchess of Beaufort. Poison had been the murderer’s weapon of choice. She glanced around the road and open area. Between the mud and snow, she didn’t see a rock large enough to bludgeon a head. Nor any other manmade item that might have been used as a weapon.
            The sleet had covered up any tracks that might have been left by an animal or the murderer. The scratches on his face could indicate an unfortunate meeting with a wolf or a bear. She remembered the fairytale from her childhood, Little Red Riding Hood. A young girl goes into the forest to visit her grandmother’s cottage and is tricked by a wolf disguised as her.
“Grandmamma, what great arms you have got!”
“That is the better to hug thee, my dear.”
“Grandmamma, what great legs you have got!”
“That is to run the better, my child.”
“Grandmamma, what great ears you have got!”
“That is to hear the better, my child.”
“Grandmamma, what great eyes you have got!”
“It is to see the better, my child.”
“Grandmamma, what great teeth you have got!”
“That is to eat thee up.”
Then the wolf eats the girl. Tiffany’s cottage was in the forest, however, there were no Big Bad Wolf’s footprints in the mud. Only the two freshly made ruts by the wheels of a carriage which led her to believe that Bernard had met his death at the hands of a human.
But amid shopping for gifts, decorating, baking sugar cookies, and organizing the Christmas Bazaar, the discovery of a body is not the holiday event that anyone expected. When antique store owner Milton Cenford is found dead in a suit of armor, amateur sleuth Tarsey Quinston is determined to find the killer.
As quirky visitors arrive in town and create more questions than answers, Tarsey finds herself investigating rumors of a missing historic diary penned by a First Lady from Starport Cove and looking into paranormal activity.
Will the discovery of a mysterious hidden passageway and an encounter with a ghost lead Tarsey and her intuitive cat Silver down the path to danger? Or will they finally unveil the identity of the killer?
What if the future is predetermined
and nothing you do can change it?
All he wanted was to go back to the
future, but that also meant living in a world without her.
Leonardo
My world turned upside down when I
broke a bottle containing a wish. I’m an easy-going person, and I hate anything
brainy, but the damn bottle made me travel back in time, back to 1956
when Abuela was only nineteen. Younger than me!
I might need to use my brain to
figure out how to get back to 2020, preferably before I alter my grandparents’
history. Befriending them isn’t part of the plan, and falling for Celestina,
my abuela‘s future best friend, is definitely not supposed to
happen.
Celestina
All Celestina wanted was her mother’s
love, but because she’s a product of rape, she learned to accept that her dream
would never come true. However, when Leonardo materialized out of her bottle in
front of her, she thought that if magic was possible, her wishes may not be out
of reach.
In Another Time is a time travel
romance set in Beniardà, a small sun-drenched village in Francoist Spain, where
time seemed to be standing still.
If you’re a fan of old crushes
realized, age gap trope, and romance that transcends time, then this book is
for you. Click the PRE-ORDER button now to join Leonardo and
Celestina on a journey across the decades for love.
Her knuckles whitened as she clenched her fist. “I’m going to
the campo soon, but can I meet you in
the embalse in the afternoon?” She
looked around, her gaze furtive, before focusing back on me. “I really need to
speak to you. Alone.”
I inched closer while she kept retreating, until her back was
against the wall bordering the road down to Font Vella. “Alone? With me? Here?”
If someone asked what I was doing in that moment, I, who
never ran out of words, wouldn’t be able to answer. I had no idea what I was
doing. I shouldn’t get too deeply involved with people from the village. It was
bad enough that I’d let Abuela know
the truth, which could change God knows what in the future. I couldn’t take
another risk by hitting on Celestina, Abuela’s
future best friend.
But it was too hard to hold back.
I grew up seeing and hearing about Celestina. She was like a
mysterious myth to me. I met my first girlfriend when I was seventeen. However,
no matter how many relationships I ended up in later, Celestina had always been
at the back of my mind. This mystery was now in front of me, within my reach.
Without thinking, I grasped a handful of curls, right at her cheek. She let out
an audible gasp as I let the strands slip through my fingers, the action soft
and addictive.
“Leonardo, are you here?”
I snapped straight, the spell broken by Abuela’s gentle voice.
Celestina lay both hands on my chest and pushed me. “I’ll see
you in the embalse!” she said and ran
off, leaving me wondering what time we were to meet at.
“Was that Celestina?” Abuela
asked.
I shoved my hands into my jacket pockets. “Yep.”
“When did the two of you become close?”
“We’re not.”
“Uh, huh.” She gave me an I-don’t-believe-you look, and I
knew I needed to confess.
“It’s nothing. I’m here looking for a clue how to get back to
the future, and she asked to meet me in the embalse.”
She glanced in the direction Celestina took. “Why?”
“I don’t know. She said she wanted to speak to me. Alone.”
Abuela laughed a little.
¿Qué?” I asked,
feeling defensive all of a sudden.
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Synopsis
Sorcha is a descendant of the Atlantean people, a race of humans who were once the blood slaves of the vampires of Atlantis. She grew up knowing that the vampires were enemies, the werewolves were beasts, and the witches were their friends. When she starts to question the situation her clan has been put into with the witches, a vampire who haunts her erotic dreams comes to the rescue. Samson didn’t grow up in Atlantis and didn’t choose to become a vampire. He hates what he has to do to survive, and can’t imagine ever deserving love. When he finds a Descendant of Atlantis near death and nurses her back to health, he expects her to run at the first opportunity. When she offers him her willing body, he knows he would do anything to keep her, and that means hiding his monstrous side. But you can’t love someone if you’re hiding part of yourself. One look at Samson and Sorcha knows she erased him from her memory on purpose, but why? What could he have done to make her risk such a dangerous spell? With battle on the horizon and Descendants in trouble, will Sorcha’s memories be the end of any chance at Samson’s happiness, or will it lead to a new understanding of what these monsters really are?
“Don’t worry, I’m the biggest predator in this ocean,” he grinned and flashed his fangs.
It should have scared her she supposed, but all it did was make her tingle with anticipation. What was wrong with her?
He pushed the boat back toward land, then pulled her in for a kiss, seeming to have no trouble staying afloat. She felt a rise of panic as the boat drifted away.
“Katherine, I will always keep you safe,” he promised and took her hand. “Now, follow me, we will swim fast and hard, straight down. The vortex will start to pull and when it does, things will go fast.”
“You won’t let go of me?”
“Of course not,” he promised. “Now, take a deep breath.”
She did, and then they were underwater and against every instinct, she was letting him drag her down toward the bottom. Soon her lungs began to burn, and panic swelled and just when she thought the panic might be too much, she felt a pull all over her body, a push behind her and a sucking in front. She was thrown through the water so fast she couldn’t have stopped it if she’d wanted to. She stopped swimming and clung to Ian’s arm with both hands. Her mind started to fuzz, she was desperate for air, and she was sure he was wrong.
