Midnight In The Graveyard
Edited by Kenneth W.Cain
Genre: Horror / Anthology
My Review
I enjoy collections like these. I get the chance to read some authors I’ve enjoyed before and discover some new ones. After finishing these, I’ve found a few new authors to add to my list.
I’m thrilled to be able to say that I enjoyed all of these. That’s saying a lot, as I’m kind of hard to please after reading horror for so many years. And I won’t be sharing my favorites. That would be hard to do. So many of these stayed with me after I read them.
All of these felt complete. And they all made me feel a wide range of emotions. From sad to horrified and anxious to shocked. It was a no-brainer to give the collection my highest recommendation.

Synopsis
Midnight. Some call it the witching hour. Others call it the devil’s hour. Here in the graveyard, midnight is a very special time. It is a time when ghostly spirits are at their strongest, when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest. Legend has it, that while most of the world is asleep, the lack of prayers allow the spirits to communicate under the cover of darkness, among the headstones, their whispers rustling in the leaves of the old oak trees. But if you’re here in the graveyard, you can tell yourself it’s just the wind, that the moonlight is playing tricks on your eyes, that it’s only the swirling mist you see. But when you hear the graveyard gate clang shut, the dead have something to say. Here are their stories…

Monstrous
20 Tales Of Giant Creature Terror
Edited by Ryan C. Thomas
Genre: Horror / Anthology
My Review
I’m not sure how I got my hands on this one but I do know that wicked cover sealed the deal even before I clutched it in my greedy hands.
I ate this stuff up. All kinds of giant creatures mucking about. As with a lot of collections, some were okay, and some were wicked good. I’m not going to play favorites. but several stories in here have me adding some new authors to my must read list.
Fans of creature features will have fun with these like I did. They are short stories so character development is limited, but some authors did a bang up job with that. And it is about giant creatures that couldn’t possibly really exist. At least, I hope not. I had some fun, flinched a few times and came out at the end happy to have browsed through these.
~~~~~
Synopsis
Move over King Kong, there are new monsters in town! Giant beetles, towering crustaceans, gargantuan felines and massive underwater beasts, to name just a few. Think you’ve got what it takes to survive their attacks? Then open this baby up, and join today’s hottest authors as they show us the true power of Mother Nature’s creatures. With enough fangs, pincers and blood to keep you up all night, we promise you won’t look at creepy crawlies the same way again.
PREHISTORIC – A Dinosaur Anthology #1
Edited by SJ Larsson
Written by multiple authors.by John F. Leonard
Genre: Horror / Thriller
My Review
I love my dinosaurs. Especially the mean and nasty ones. And you get plenty of those in this collection. And I enjoy anthologies. You come across some authors you have enjoyed before and some new ones to explore.
It’s bloody mayhem from story to story. The dinosaurs rule and any man is a fool to think otherwise. Many characters meet their fate and a lucky few survive.
I found all of these enjoyable. Some were quick, bloody fun. And then were those that I wanted to continue. That I would have loved as full length books so I could connect even more with the characters, get more of the horrible, rampaging beasts and more of the atmosphere that had me so excited.
Something I took away from these stories was the new way the dinosaurs were presented. It’s a modern look at how dinosaurs are perceived now. How they might have really looked. It was long believed that they were cold blooded creatures and looked similar to lizards. You get something much different with most of these and I have a new respect for how terrifying they must have been.
I’m not one to play favorites so I won’t list any here. I will say some new authors have found their way to my must read more from list.
~~~~~
Synopsis
PREHISTORIC is an action packed collection of stories featuring terrifying creatures that once ruled the Earth. Lost worlds where T-Rex and Velociraptors still roam and man is now on the menu. Laboratories at the forefront of cloning technology experiment with dinosaurs they do not understand or are able to contain. The deepest parts of the ocean where Megalodon, the largest and most ferocious predator to have ever existed is stalking new prey. Plus many more thrillers filled with extinct prehistoric monsters written by some of the best creature feature authors this side of the Jurassic period.

Autumn Harvest
by Mark Kasniak
Genre: Horror / Anthology
My Review
I’d liken this collection to Tales From The Darkest Side, Nope. I didn’t spell it wrong. What I assumed would be some spooky Halloween stories quickly turned into some very dark tales. Lots of gore, warped character’s and fiendish dispatching awaits.
The selection here is all over the place. Zombies, Check. Super evil villains. Check. Creepy pumpkins. Check. Possessed radios. Check. The list goes on. These would make some super eerie television episodes.
If you’re at all squeamish, brace yourself, as many of these even had me cringing, and that’s saying something. But, there’s also stories that have you pulling for the monstrous character’s. They not be human any longer, but they deserve their own brand of vengeance for what befell them.
The author warns that these are not meant for young kids. There’s adult themes, with the language and events that come with that. And he wasn’t kidding. While a few of these were a bit too graphic and warped for my taste, I could appreciate the author’s imagination when penning many of them. I’d only recommend this to true fans of dark, twisted horror.

Haunted Tales
Stories from Beyond the Grave
An Anthology Compiled by Samie Sands
Genre: Horror / Anthology
My Review
I do like short stories and collections. There are a bunch in here, along with some poems. It also includes authors I’ve enjoyed before and some new ones I’ll be checking out further.
While many of these were really good, some weren’t my cuppa tea. That often happens when there are this many to read in one book. Way to many to review individually, and I don’t want to play favorites. I’ll just say the ones that grabbed me were creeptastic.
Plenty to keep you entertained and the right time of year to enjoy some spooky. I’m glad I read these.
