Christmas With a Cowboy

.

Cowboys of Burton Springs Book 7

by Pam Mantovani

Genre: Holiday Romance

She’s all wrapped up in him . . .

Avery McClain is looking forward to her first Christmas in Montana with her little girl. But as soon as she arrives, she’s caught in an unexpected tug of war between two ranchers wanting to buy the land left to her by her favorite uncle. All she wants to do is make the holiday special for daughter. But instead, she’s overwhelmed with attempts to pressure her into selling. And she’s uncomfortably attracted to one of the men competing for her property.

Judson Ford wants Avery McClain’s land to expand his horse breeding operation. He didn’t anticipate his attraction to her, or his admiration for her courage. And her little girl is so damn cute! Before he knows it, he’s been swept up in her Christmas spirit. Suddenly, Avery and her daughter are filling all the empty spaces in his life.

But then, Avery is offered a job opportunity that would mean she’d have to relocate. And Judson realizes that everything in him is pushing him to ask her to stay and make a life—a family—with him.

Unfortunately, someone else has other ideas.

We can’t talk Christmas without discussing trees and lights. The tree below on the left is the only one I recall from my childhood so when The Craftsman and I married and he said, as if it were not an issue, that we would have a ‘real’ Christmas tree I was thrilled. Over the years we’ve transitioned to an artificial tree but the one thing I’ve always done is string popcorn for the tree. Almost every year I consider not doing it, due to the time involved, but when I end up doing it and it’s on the tree, I’m glad I went through the effort.

In Christmas with a Cowboy, the heroine’s little girl is enchanted with Christmas lights. This is always a ‘discussion’ between The Craftsman and I – so we’ve compromised by having white lights on the tree and colored lights in other decorating areas. Which do you prefer?

An author of passionate, emotional romances with heart, Pam loves crafting stories about independent women and men who discover the thrill and joy of falling in love. After years of moving as both an Army Brat and corporate wife, Pam and her craftsman husband settled in Atlanta, close to family and friends. When not writing, Pam enjoys quilting, planting beautiful flowers, home improvement projects and spending time with her wonderful family.

Avoiding My Merry Birthday

by Sonja Gunter

Genre: Holiday Romance

.

What would life be like to share your birthday with millions of people?

Gloria White was born on December 24th—Christmas Eve—and is celebrating her 35th birthday when things go terribly wrong. Single and with no love interest in sight, she leaves work only to find her car won’t start. The arrival of the tow truck brings Nick Klaaws, who she has known since grade school, as the driver.

Shocked at seeing him, she loses her balance, falls and hits her head. This brings on a visit from a ghost resembling her boss, Mr. SC Rouge. They travel back in time, where he shows her that her soulmate has been in front of her the whole time and takes her to two possible futures.

Once back in real time, will fate allow Gloria to make the right choices for love?

Ending the call, she manually unlocked the car door and got into the driver’s seat. She tried the ignition, just for the heck of it, but the engine did not even make a grinding noise. She hit the steering wheel with the palm of her hand, and cried out, “Ouch.”

It hadn’t been worth the effort. She massaged her hand. Deciding to make the most of her time, she checked Facebook to see if anyone had left her a birthday message there. When none came up, she clicked her off her phone and sat in a lonely silence.

An unusual bright light reflected in her rear-view mirror. Squinting, she tried to make out who had joined in the parking lot. Was that the tow truck? How could help have arrived so soon? A low hum of music seeped through the air. Frowning, she tilted her head for a better angle to hear where it was coming from.

“Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh…”

Grimacing at the driver’s choice of songs, Gloria slid out of the driver’s seat to watch a red tow-truck with a wreath on the grill come closer. The Christmas music was now blaring so loud she was tempted to cover her ears. The driver must really like the age-old song, she thought.

The truck stopped in front of her car, and she bent over to retrieve her purse from the car.

“Ho, ho, ho. I heard you’re having a problem.”

The deep voice struck a chord to a long-ago memory from her childhood.

“Aren’t you into the holiday spirit?” She straightened and turned. “Sorry you had to come out on Christmas Eve—”

Gloria flung her arms outward to gain some balance as she felt herself falling. “Ohhhh, nooooo…”

Unable to evade the expected outcome, she held out her hand as she hit the ground hard. Her body jerked and then fell backward, causing her head to hit the pavement. Pain like a mother migraine surged from the back of her head to her forehead. She felt strong arms wrap around her upper body, lifting her. Before the expected blackness took over, she was able to fixate on a familiar pair of blue eyes.

“Nick?”

.

Born and raised in the cold and beautiful Minnesota, she escaped to Illinois for seventeen years to raise two boys, and now calls Florida home. She and her husband Andy, who’s always her hero, have a new family to worry about; Cookie, an Assui-Po dog and Chip, a ragdoll cat, that their sons compare to Eeyore.

She loves to travel, read, and bowl. You can catch her writing her next novel at the lanes.

Sonja encourages you to check out her web site, www.sonjagunter.com for more info and don’t be surprised if she lets her Norwegian heritage come through in her stories. You betcha!

Leaning against the wall, she smiled. “Hi, Scott. Nice to see you again.”

“You, too.” He dragged a hand through his hair. Surrounded by scuffed walls and worn carpet, she glittered. She must have a reason for her costume and presence in the theater, and he interrupted her. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to drag you away from the show.”

She shrugged. “It’s fine. The song is almost done. The cast has one last musical number before the finale.” She held out her arms and swayed side to side. “I’ll make my grand entrance.”

“Were they singing?”

Her mouth turned down.

Ask a stupid question… He dropped his fists into his pockets. “I mean were your friends on stage just now?” His voice cracked. “The ones from the love story you’re filming?”

“Oh, yeah.” She cleared her throat and rubbed together her palms. “You’re a good listener. Yep, Paul and Dani are performing.”

She sounded off. Not quite wistful, her strained words were tired. He shook his head. He knew her for only a few hours. How would he know the rhythm of her cadence or the subtleties in her expression through the thick layer of cosmetics? Because I’ve seen the real woman underneath the celebrity image. “We just finished, too.”

“We?”

“My aunt and uncle talked me into lending a hand in the kitchen. I made the cranberry sauce and decaf coffee.” He scanned the corridor. Could someone appear and save him from his misery? Why couldn’t he conduct a normal conversation?

Merry Little Wishing Spritz

by Cherie Colyer

Merry Little Wishing Spritz (Christmas Cookies) by [Cherie Colyer]

Genre: Holiday Romance

Synopsis

Modern-day witch Cassie Moore’s cozy life turns upside down when her friend foresees the wrecking ball that threatens to destroy Cassie’s home and workplace. But Cassie isn’t giving up without a fight. She casts a well-intended spell meant to save her apartment and her job. But magic is unpredictable, especially when her friend casts a little charm of her own that has Cassie lusting after the man she desperately wants to despise.

Jack Quinn has had his eyes on Lakeside Books for years, and he couldn’t be happier the owner is finally ready to sell. He has big plans for the cozy waterfront property, but he didn’t expect to care about the store or its employees. And he never imagined he’d be drawn to a certain brown-eyed saleswoman.

Almost as if by magic.

Enjoy this peek inside:

Jack tucked the midnight blue candle under his arm and picked up one of the beaded bracelets.

“The magnetite stones help to ground the wearer,” I said.

“Do you believe in that sort of thing?”

I nodded. A person didn’t have to be a witch to believe gems, stones, and herbs had mystical properties. He rolled the black beads between his fingers. “Magnetite also attracts love, loyalty, and commitment, if I remember correctly.”

“You’re right,” I said, amazed he knew the property of the stone.

He held onto the bracelet and wandered to the suspense sections. I followed. “If you buy Lakeside Books – ” His gaze met mine, one eyebrow hiked. “If?” My fingers trailed over the nicked shelves as I walked. “Now that word is out the store is for sale, you might not be the only one interested in purchasing it.”

The corners of his mouth curved into a smug smirk, implying he wasn’t worried. Would he up his offer if I countered? Jack reached for a book.

Frustrated at the whole store situation, I flick my finger, sending several paperbacks flying off the shelf with the one Jack grabbed. Books pelted his chest.

I jumped back, acting shocked by the books jumping off the shelf. I couldn’t exactly tell him I did it. “We must have packed them in too tightly.”

I pressed my lips together to hide my smile and helped pick up the fallen books.

“This is quite popular.” I held one out. “Lots of twists and surprise attacks.”

Jack glanced sideways. “Is that right?”
