Gull Harbor
by Kathryn Knight
Genre: Mystery / Paranormal / Romance
Synopsis
When Claire Linden’s job sends her to the sleepy town of Gull Harbor, she never expects to encounter her ex-boyfriend. Then, without explanation, he abandoned her on graduation day.
Max never intended to break Claire’s heart—a cruel ultimatum forced him to disappear from her life. While he’s shocked to find her in Gull Harbor, he isn’t surprised by the bitter resentment she feels for him…or the fiery attraction that remains between them.
Claire is determined to rid her temporary home of its aggressive ghost, but Max soon realizes she’s facing a danger beyond the paranormal. When Claire risks everything to help a desperate spirit, Max must race to save her—before another tragedy tears them apart forever.

I added this to my list back in February of 2015. The cover is fabulous and it sounds like quite the mystery.

Nearly Departed In Deadwood
Deadwood #1
by Ann Charles
![Nearly Departed in Deadwood (Deadwood Humorous Mystery Book 1) by [Charles, Ann]](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51UxA9WE3cL._SY346_.jpg)
Genre: Mystery / Paranormal
My Review
I can’t remember which made me grab this book, the catchy title or the awesome cover. Guess it doesn’t matter since I finished the book and had so much fun.
Violet Parker is a single mom with a lot on her plate. She has two young kids to raise, a job with an expiration date if she doesn’t hurry and sell her first house, a nasty coworker bent on getting her fired and a dwindling bank account. She sees a way out of it when she’s offered her first house to sell. Turns out it’s a mess and she has her work cut out for her to get it ready for showing. Along comes a mysterious man who’s looking to buy a house. Something’s not quite right about him but what can you do.
Violet doesn’t plan on inserting herself into the investigation when young girls start disappearing in Deadwood. But, with a young girl of her own, she can’t stay out of it.
I couldn’t help but relate to Violet. I was a single mom and know all about juggling a job and raising a child. You do whatever it takes. She was scatter brained at times. Who wouldn’t be. And no shrinking violet. I loved how she stood up to her nasty coworker. And her signature purple boots. Gotta love those.
There was a bit of a paranormal element to this story that came from a source I wasn’t expecting. And some sexual tension you could cut with a knife.
I had great fun with this one and have already started the next book. I’m excited to see what trouble is stirring next in Deadwood.
4 STARS

I added this book back in December of 2017. I’ve been reading this series out of order. I know, it’s a bad habit for me. LOL I enjoyed the other books and now I’m ready for this one.

American antique dealer Kate Hamilton’s Christmastime jaunt to a charming English village leads to an investigation of a missing ruby…and a chain of murders.
It’s Christmastime and antiques dealer Kate Hamilton is off to visit her daughter, Christine, in the quaint English village of Long Barston. Christine and her boyfriend, Tristan, work at stately-but-crumbling Finchley Hall. Touring the Elizabethan house and grounds, Kate is intrigued by the docent’s tales of the Finchley Hoard, and the strange deaths surrounding the renowned treasure trove. But next to a small lake, Kate spies the body of a young woman, killed by a garden spade.
Nearly blind Lady Barbara, who lives at Finchley with her loyal butler, Mugg, persuades Kate to take over the murdered woman’s work. Kate finds that a Burmese ruby has vanished from the legendary Blood-Red Ring, replaced by a lesser garnet. Were the theft and the woman’s death connected?
Kate learns that Lady Barbara’s son fled to Venezuela years before, suspected of murdering another young woman. The murder weapon belonged to an old gardener, who becomes the leading suspect. But is Lady Barbara’s son back to kill again? When another body is found, the clues point toward Christine. It’s up to Kate to clear her daughter’s name in Connie Berry’s second Kate Hamilton mystery, a treasure for fans of traditional British mysteries.

“Too many twists and turns to easily share about this book. Nevertheless, Carr has pulled off another “hit” that kept me reading in one setting until the clues were so well together that the villain fell into our laps…or Chris’s, LOL Carr has put a lot into the book beyond the mysteries this time…Characters enjoyed chocotinis, visited book stores…and even blundered into getting engaged (the ring had been purchased 4 months ago)… But, for me, a special thank you for the political spoof at a time when politics at the national level is devastating, gave me a laugh and lightened the load of it all!” – Review by Glenda Bixler, Book Reader’s Heaven
The Last Thing She Said
A Chris Matheson Cold Case Mystery #3
by Lauren Carr
.
Category: Adult Fiction (18 +), 386 pages
Genre: Mystery
Publisher: Acorn Book Services
Release date: July 22, 2019
Formats available for purchase: paperback, ebook, audiobook (audible & itunes)
Tour dates: October 7 to November 15, 2019
Content Rating: PG-13 (Lauren Carr’s books are murder mysteries, so there are murders involved. Occasionally, a murder will happen on stage. There is sexual content, but always behind closed doors. Some mild swearing (a hell or a damn few and far between). No F-bombs!
My Review
I’ve been reaing Lauren’s books as fast as she can release them. This newer series is every bit as dear to me as the others.
It is such fun to be back with these characters. There are many. I love how Lauren puts a directory at the beginning. It lists all of the important characters and shares who they are in connection to the story and each other. I always read them to refresh my memory.
I fell right into the story. It’s like the characters stepped onto the stage. There’s murder, kidnapping and all kinds of nefarious shenanigans to be revealed.
The romance is funny and spicy. The mysteries convoluted and hard to figure out. And the ending is one of those, oh, I didn’t see that coming, ones.
And the non human characters play some key roles in making sure everyone stays alive. From a giant rabbit, to a cat mistaken for a skunk and an ankle biting Jack Russell, to two very clever and mischievous German Shepherds, the fun never ends. And if you think bears only poop in the woods, think again. LOL
I loved this from beginning to end and hope Lauren writes another one really fast.
