MY REVIEW

Jess slowly comes to. As her thoughts clear the pain sets in. Her head is killing her and she’s been bleeding.

What happened? What is she doing on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. Why can’t she remember?

Pulling herself together she heads to the bathroom to clean herself up. A glimpse in the mirror reveals something behind her. What was it? It was there then not there.

Jess begins to see it more frequently. She just needs the apparition to coalesce, to become clearer. She’s sure she knows who it is. But she can’t remember.

Could the fall have knocked her senseless?. Is the apparition real? One question looms largest, should she be scared?

I was engrossed, reading away, and suddenly there was no more to read. I had to chuckle. I forgot this was a short story. I was having such fun I wanted it to be longer.

As I read the ending I had to reread it. I liked it that much.

This is a mysterious, scary, ghost story and a good introduction to the authors writing. I’ll be reading more of Dani-Lyn’s books.

Synopsis

After a head injury, Jess begins to see things she can’t explain. She starts to wonder if she’s hallucinating, losing her mind completely…or if something far worse might be happening.

~Excerpt~

A scream erupted from her throat, dragging her forcefully from the nightmare that held her captive. Heart pounding, chest heaving, she rolled over and reached to pull the pillow over her head. The lingering fear from the nightmare morphed into sheer terror when she realized she was no longer lying in her warm, cozy bed, but on a cold, hard surface. She froze, too afraid to move, and opened her eyes just enough to study her surroundings.

“What the..?” Although she laid in total darkness, Jess knew exactly where she was. The bumps and crevices of the rough terra cotta tile, combined with the lingering scent of potpourri, were unmistakable. How had she gotten here? Why were there no lights? Pain slammed through her head when she tried to sit up. Nausea threatened to overwhelm her, and she forced the bile back down. She lowered herself to the floor, gently resting her cheek against the cool tile. Maybe she could just lay here for the rest of the night.

Reality intruded, and she knew she had to stand. She moved slowly, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her forehead against them. Taking slow breaths and tentatively rubbing at the tender spot on her temple, she was surprised when her hand came away sticky. “Ugh…what’s on my hand?”

She struggled to her feet and slapped her hands against the wall to stop the room from spinning. Once the world came into focus, she padded to the kitchen, hoping to rid herself of the coppery taste that was threatening to choke her.

Pain exploded behind her eyes and took her breath away when she turned on the light. She grabbed a clean towel from the drawer, filled it with ice, and pressed it against her throbbing head. Elbows on the kitchen counter, she leaned into the cold of her impromptu ice pack. Numbness prickled her skin.

How had she ended up on the floor? How long had she lain there? Had she fallen? Passed out? The throbbing pain made thinking difficult. Aspirin. Aspirin would help. She reached for the bottle in the cabinet and then filled a glass with cool water. When she raised her head to drink, she caught sight of her reflection in the window above the sink.

With darkness pressing heavily against the glass, she was able to see herself quite clearly. The disheveled woman who met her gaze startled her. Her short, dark hair stuck out in all directions but, when she tried to run her fingers through the rat’s nest in an effort to tame it, she met resistance. The sticky mess had already started to dry, leaving her hair full of knots. She’d bled worse than she’d thought. The pink t-shirt she’d worn to bed was also blood splattered.

“What happened to me? Was I sleepwalking?” She sipped her water, but dumped the remainder down the sink when her stomach rebelled. Her heart pounded in her chest, keeping time with the throbbing in her temples. There has to be a logical explanation for this. Did I get up to go to the bathroom and trip? That didn’t make sense, even to her own confused mind. When her gaze returned to the window, she couldn’t fight the fear that clutched at her throat.

“Oh, my…” she told the woman who stared back from the window, but left the sentence unfinished when she caught movement from behind her in the reflection. Instinctively ducking to the side, Jess turned to find the room empty. Her heart thundered in her already constricted chest, her breath coming in short, shallow gasps. Tremors shook her body as she struggled desperately to fight off the impending panic attack. The hammering of her heart made it hard for her to hear anything else, but she strained her ears to listen.

The kitchen doorway led to the small living room directly across from the window. Had someone been moving through the room? Was that how she’d ended up crumpled on the floor at the bottom of the stairs? Had she been pushed?

MY REVIEW

It’s now two months later and Cassie is still nursing a broken heart. The one Evan broke so callously. Moving in together with Madison and Kaitlin and going back to work at the Sherriff’s Office have kept her mind busy, but it isn’t until she’s wooed by the irresistable Mathew Blair that she feels her heart stirring to life again.

There’s one problem with Mathew. He’s a mind mage and you can’t ever be sure he isn’t putting thoughts and feelings into your mind. On his word, Cassie takes a chance.

When the pastor’s wife dies in a suspicious fire, Cassie does her own investigating, trying to find out who’s behind it before someone else dies.

The first thing that struck me was Cassie and Mathew. I always thought Evan would win her heart. The dumb jerk broke it instead. As I read further into the book, I kept waiting for them to get back together, waiting for Evan to explain himself, and waiting for Cassie to forgive him.

That gets put on the back burner while I follow Cassie, sniffing out clues, following false trails, questioning magical residents, which could be dangerous, and ending up clueless as to who was behind the fires. Me, not Cassie.

Once I had my list of suspects I continued to follow Cassie’s lead and had a pretty good idea who might be behind it. Or so I thought. Nothing was obvious in this third book.

The author wrote a darker story in Mind Games. At least, I felt it was. No one was safe and characters died. But, she added lighter notes with fun dialogue, and Cassie trying to go incognito was hilarious. Magic can only hide so much when everyone around her is magical and she isn’t. She tries though.

Christine showed her talent with her characters. They changed. They learned. They matured. That made them feel real, ring true for me. If the characters didn’t learn from past experiences and reflect that in each story, they would be flat like paper dolls. These characters breathe, speak, suffer, and rejoice in equal parts, making them friends. Making me care about them.

There’s mystery, romance, and more magic to keep you racing to the end. And that’s where I must say this. I don’t want it to end. Stolen Dreams, the final book in this series, is coming soon and I’ll have to say goodbye to my new friends. But I plan on revisiting them again. It’s always fun to reread books that I love. It feels like coming home and I always get more out of the second reading, like when watching a movie again.

I highly recommend Christine’s Cassie Scot Series and Mind Games is an exciting, action packed, next installment you won’t want to miss.

Praise for the Cassie Scot Series

“Amsden continues the story of the only mundane member of a supernaturally-gifted family in this middling sequel to Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective. Cassie, stubborn and proud, is bravely trying to live on her own after her family disowns her. Struggling to make ends meet, she accepts a case involving a pair of magical girls who disappeared from summer camp. With the aid of the handsome Evan Blackwood, to whom Cassie is attracted despite her family’s disapproval and her own better judgment, she follows the trail of the missing girls. What she finds is a dark side of the magical world, and the hidden depths of her family’s past force her to reconsider long-held assumptions. The growing complexity of Cassie’s world makes this an entertaining installment, focusing as much on the will-they, won’t-they romantic chemistry between Cassie and Evan as on the primary mystery. An inconclusive ending is clearly intended to feed into the next volume.” — Publisher’s Weekly

“When sorcerers call the shots, what’s a girl without powers to do? Get ready for a ripper of a murder mystery full of romance and intrigue, where magic potions bubble, passions spark and vampires are definitely not your friend. Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective grabs you by the heart and won’t let go until the very last page. Well written, immersive and unputdownable. This is urban fantasy at its best. More please!” – Kim Falconer, bestselling author of The Spell of Rosette, Quantum Enchantment Series

MY REVIEW

Larinda has lost not just two parents, but four. Her biological ones and now her adoptive ones.

As she comes to term with this, she’s also having to accept and become a part of the Valens. Shapeshifters. The mark she carries is a unicorn and her 18th birthday, the time of her first shift is approaching.

When she takes control of the family business, a security firm called Legacy Protective Services, she discovers some papers her parents had hidden away. Now she wonders if her parents deaths, maybe even both sets, were accidental. Her suspicions are well founded when someone or something tries to kill her.

This story is told from two points of view.

The second character is Jemma. She’s a product of the street, never having a real family to care for her. She’s used to living defensively, watching out for herself.

When she’s offered a chance at security, she’s hesitant, knowing a gift horse can be anything but.

Larinda and Jemma couldn’t be more different. One knew loving parents, the other was a street kid. One thing they did share was a mysterious past, lost in childhood.

The author does a great job of world building in this short novella. Not a lot of detail, would like more, and I suspect I’ll get all I need in the next book in this series.

There are shapeshifters galore, mysteries a plenty, and many characters to care about and some not so much. All the makings of an exciting series.

Excerpt 1:

Larinda

Larinda Nix Thomas watched, eyes filled with tears, as her parents’ coffins were lowered into the ground. The rain took no pity on the mourners who had gathered. It blew in past the edges of the tent, dousing everyone who had come to say their last goodbyes.

Grant Mayfair and Griffin Hawke, senior executives with Legacy Protection Services and personal friends of Larinda’s family, stood sentinel beside her. Larinda struggled to hide how much she blamed them for her loss. Legacy, and all the resources at their disposal, hadn’t protected her adoptive parents. Grant and Griffin hadn’t been there to safeguard Boyd and Fiona, and now she was forced to stand beside their graves.

Larinda hugged herself, stroking her shoulder where the mark that resembled a unicorn was hidden under her jacket. Today the comforting habit didn’t work.

Grant reached out and drew her hand into his. “I know you’re hurting,” he murmured. “It’s so difficult to lose those you love to a senseless accident.” He gave her hand a squeeze and raised it toward the numerous friends, employees, and customers who had come to share her grief—and whose safety and livelihoods depended on the company her parents had built. “You can trust that I’ll be here for you,” Grant said. “Help take some of the burden off your shoulders.”

Reclaiming her hand, she gave Grant a weak smile. It didn’t last long.

Senseless accident? Or something far worse? The thought swirled through Larinda’s mind.

Ambassador Magellan came forward to shake her hand. “Larinda, please forgive me. I have duties to address, but I had to let you know Legacy’s services are not in jeopardy because of your loss. I’m sure Mr. Hawke is very capable of stepping in until you are better prepared for such vast responsibilities.”

Larinda stared blankly at the politician as he walked away. Step aside? I know I’m not completely prepared for this, but—just let Hawke take over? Looking at the faces of the men and women who gathered to comfort her, she suddenly wondered how many of them expected the same thing.

Her parents had carefully groomed her in preparation for the day she would take control of Legacy. She had been immersed in Valens culture and schooled in the obligations she would inherit from the day she had become a member of the family. Even at that young age, she’d understood that their pride and high standards were the reason for the success of the two-hundred-year-old company. Boyd’s parents had established the global enterprise and built it into a world-renowned security firm celebrated for protecting presidents and kings.

They had depended on her to carry on when they were gone. She was a Thomas, even if not by birth, and as long as her family survived, they would remain in control of Legacy. It was the least she owed the people who had given her so much.

 Valens Rise

Book Two

MY REVIEW

**Warning: this is book two in the series. May be some spoilers **

I knew I wanted more as soon as I finished the first book in this exciting series, Valens Remembered.

Now that I’ve read Valens Rise, I’m hooked.

The story takes place a couple of years later. Jemma’s been working for the clinic , doing well for herself. For the first time she has security and a place of her own.

That all changes when she gets the phone call. She has a sister she never knew about. A sister she’ll never get to know, and she’s named Jemma in her will.

Jemma is wary of these strangers and what they tell her. And she becomes convinced they’re all lunatics when they reveal what they are. What she is.

The author stepped up her game in this second book. The world is expanded and filled in, the shapeshifters are over abundant and so fantastical, bordering on science fiction, and a love interest begins.

Jemma has grown and become a favorite character for me. She uses her street smarts to protective herself and take the advantage. The author made her transition from street kid to mature young woman believable, which couldn’t be easy as Jemma isn’t just a human, she’s a Valens too.

This second book is longer than the first, but I read it almost as fast, tearing through each page, devouring the action, and loving every minute of it. And, as with the first book, I want more please. Now!

The one man who she may be destined to love. Rather than face the reality of her new life, Jemma makes a fateful decision. Excerpt – Chapter One –First Week in November

Jemma slipped the hood of her jacket over her hair and crept onto the night-darkened porch. Crouching low, she checked the rain-swept city street for her pursuers. All seemed quiet. She straightened up, readying herself to make a run for it.

As soon as she moved, a man burst out of the shadows of the next building. Gilbert—the man who had tried to abduct her just a few days ago. He ran toward her, calling over his shoulder, “She’s here!”

Behind him, three six-foot-long, DNA-altered snakes slithered down the sidewalk. Adrenaline surged through Jemma and she jumped off the porch, dodging her attacker, who lunged forward to grab her. She pulled her arm in close to her body and spun to her left, barely eluding him. She caught a glimpse of the snakes’ white, human faces just behind him—like demon children from a horror film. The fear of their poisoned fangs pushed her onward, heart pumping.

She dashed down the street and around the corner, realizing her mistake too late. She’d turned down an alley—one with no exit at the far end. She was trapped.

Gilbert appeared at the mouth of the alley, the snake creatures close behind. Desperate, Jemma scooped up an empty liquor bottle lying on the ground and threw it at him. Her aim was off and it went low, catching him in the shins and tangling his legs. He stumbled and fell hard onto the rain-drenched pavement.

Jemma ran further down the alley, looking for a door, a fire escape—anything. All she saw were two padlocked doors. She turned to face her attackers. The snakes were gliding toward Gilbert’s prone body. With terrifying swiftness, they struck, burying their fangs in his face and neck.

The man rolled and twisted in pain, his mouth open in a silent scream. Jemma, frozen in shock, watched the venom’s swift course through his body. The major muscle groups contracted violently in turn, forcing his arms and legs into unnatural positions. The creatures drew back and studied Gilbert’s tortured thrashing with the intensity of children observing a pinned bug, and then glided away.

The poison finally reached Gilbert’s lungs, stealing his breath. She watched in horror as foam bubbled from his nose and mouth.

Jemma wrenched her gaze from the horrific sight. Standing at the open end of the alley was her former teacher, watching Gilbert’s death throes with avid pleasure, his evil pets writhing and circling at his feet. He raised his eyes to hers, and a slow smile spread across his face.

She was next.

“Eleanor…” he whispered her name and she stopped. She turned towards the sound that she couldn’t locate.

“Over here.” He guided her with his hand from behind the craggy trunk, allowing it to be just visible enough to make her curious as to who its owner might be. An adult might run, scream, or faint at the sight of a translucent hand gesturing mysteriously, but Eleanor was an insightful little girl and wanted to know more. The redhead on the seesaw looked dismayed and repeated her plea. This annoyed Onyx considerably; he was tempted to go shut her up, but her attention was now steady on the phantom arm that beckoned her. He controlled his visibility simply with his mind. If he thought it, it became a reality for him.

Eleanor’s little blonde curls shook a little as she seemed to be attempting to clear her head. He could start to feel the gravitational pull from within her. It started to tug on his energy, almost gripping him and pulling him piece by piece, atom by atom, ever closer to her.

“Come a little closer, Sweetheart. How many fingers am I holding up?” If he distracted her with the game or a challenge, it would be that much easier. Anticipation started to build within him, like the sweet pressure of an inevitable release. Trance-like now, unable to resist the lure of his sugary voice, she walked right into his arm and it was over.

“Hey,” he said. She jerked her head to the left and saw only his spiraling eyes. Before she could utter a scream he was in through her surprised mouth, busily working into her muscles, connecting with her spinal cord to coordinate her movements. Her sensory organs were pliable, and the tendrils that were extensions of his personality easily wrapped around every bone, every nerve ending. She was stunned into silence by the complete and sudden takeover. He felt strong and empowered. It had been weeks since he had felt a young, healthy host take him to dizzying heights of euphoria.

This was where Gemini were meant to be, where they felt most in control and in touch with their true ability. To connive and manipulate, ruin and plunder the society around them was only justice. They were so weak and puny, murderers and thieves, liars, and rapists. They all took what they wanted from each other, and the earth, then sucked any generosity right out of the atmosphere. He always thought he was helping them shorten the time frame of their journey. They would all eventually die anyway; he just hurried along the process. He felt the need to justify himself after entering someone. He knew there was some deep hidden morsel of doubt that what he was doing was right, that every human should be annihilated from existence. He would never divulge these doubts to himself or anyone else. It was a hidden monster within him and he would never lend it credit.

“Eleanor! Please come play!” He turned around in the direction of the voice. He needed to adjust his vision just a little and did so by fitting his hollow sockets a little more snugly around the orbs of her eyes. The optical nerve was delicate and it was sometimes tricky to get the sight perfect. He shook his head at the girl now and smiled. He was not ready to play right now.

It always took him a few minutes to get acclimated in a new body. Sometimes, he would look in the mirror and his first instinct was to ask. “Who are you?” He would become so wrapped up in his missions that he might forget who he was, sometimes even the name of the person he inhabited.

He rested against the craggy bark of the tree and observed his surroundings; three nuns and seventeen children. He had to formulate a plan for how he would take over the main influencers of the church. He would need to study the innards and plot this out, as he told Lilly he would. Nothing rash or stupid would be beneficial; only smooth, calculative moves would render success.

About Author Jessica O’Gorek

I grew up admiring my father, Barry Weinstock, as an author. He took me around the country to different places so he could research and write his Wilderness Survival books. One of his greatest works, “The Path of Power,” was written with a great medicine man, Sunbear.

When I was twelve I started hand writing novels. My first one was two thousand pages. My dad always encouraged me and would rave about my writing. He gave me the confidence I needed to keep writing and follow my dream. My daughter, who is twelve, is currently working on her first novel. I hope to continue the legacy.

To secure their future together, Lenox decides to accompany her on the quest, even if forbidden. He must ultimately choose between using his dragon fighting skills which could lead to his death, or give Maronda her greatest desire.
In the end, it’s Maronda who must learn to live with the consequences of his decision.

Mexmur, the Huntress by Anna Simpson

Can she succeed armed with only a poem, talon and blade?

Entrance of Lost Souls by Echo Shea

Blurb: A guardian to the entrances between worlds, Gladys has been called to bring a little girl back from Fairyland. Passing through the Entrance of Lost Souls is no fun, neither is hunting down a deranged banshee, but what is a guardian to do?
And, is the banshee really kidnapping the girl…or saving her from something else?

Where Once were Hearts by Havva Murat

Blurb: After losing both his parents, his entire fortune and his childhood sweetheart, Master Bartholomew Battlesby sets out into the wilds of Northern England to make the acquaintance of his only surviving relation, the landed recluse, Mr. Horatio Grimsby who has an eerie penchant for both tinkering and clockwork. But, on finding his relation dead, with a gaping hole in his chest, and the beautiful, but scornful, Miss Evangeline Witherop ruling in his place, Bartholomew learns there is more than one way to lose your heart.
Can Bartholomew reignite the spirit of love and mercy within Miss Witherop, or will he suffer the same fate as his poor, heartless cousin?

Ordinary World by Laurie Treacy

Blurb: Imagine a new neighbor moves next door, a creepy guy who gives fifteen year-old Amy Silva the willies? Amy wonders what the stone archway in the backyard is for. Her life becomes even more stressful when her family reveals they’re witches. Could Amy’s new neighbor have anything to do with a local girl’s disappearance or be a threat to her magical loved ones?

The Lunatic Queen by Michael Siciliano

Blurb: The land of Mershinka has been thrown into perpetual night. Their King is dead and a moon witch, known as The Night Queen, rules from the royal palace in Grosnov. An endless fog shrouds the land, killing crops and starving the populace. Cold-eyed enforcers put down rebellions while volksa, twisted wolf-creatures, roam the mists looking for prey. Many have given up hope and wait for the inevitable end. All seems lost.
Two teenagers, Pavel and Tamara, devise a plan to kill Vazya the Night Queen when the moons Kainsk and Seresnya are down, end the stifling enchantment, and bring the sun back to their dying land. But, they need a watch to tell time, a compass to guide them through the mists, weapons to fight off Vazya’s minions, and all the courage they can muster.

Not that anyone cares.

Well, Peter doesn’t care.

Peter is more interested in finding a way to alleviate the skull-numbing boredom of a city wide shut down. So far his ideas for excitement hover between stealing an unwary idiot’s underwear (soul works, too), setting someone’s eyebrows on fire, or stabbing the next person he meets in the eye with a hot French fry.

It turns out, he’ll be able to save assault and theft for a rainy day. As luck would have it, this naughty kitsune is about to meet the big bad wolf.

And man, is the wolf in for a surprise..

The Color of Evil

by Connie Corcoran Wilson

.
Tad McGreevy has a power that he has never revealed, not even to his life-long best friend, Stevie Scranton. When Tad looks at others, he sees colors. These auras tell Tad whether a person is good or evil. At night, Tad dreams about the evil-doers, reliving their crimes in horrifyingly vivid detail.But Tad doesn’t know if the evil acts he witnesses in his nightmares are happening now, are already over, or are going to occur in the future. He has no control over the horrifying visions. He has been told (by his parents) never to speak of his power. All Tad knows is that he wants to protect those he loves. And he wants the bad dreams to stop.At Tad’s eighth birthday party (April 1, 1995) in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the clown his parents hire to entertain Tad’s third-grade classmates is one of the bad people. Pogo, the Killer Clown (aka Michael Clay) is a serial killer. So begins 53 nights of terror as Tad relives Pogo’s crime, awakens screaming, and recites the terrifying details to his disbelieving family. The situation becomes so dire that Tad is hospitalized in a private institution under the care of a psychiatrist–who also does not believe the small boy’s stories.

And then the police arrest Pogo, the Killer Clown.

Flash forward to the beginning of Tad’s junior year in high school, 8 years later. Tad is 16 and recovered from the spring of his third-grade year. When Michael Clay was caught and imprisoned, the crime spree ended and so did Tad’s bad dreams.

Until now, in the year of our Lord 2003, when evil once again stalks the land.

This is a terrifying, intense story of the dark people and places that lurk just beneath the surface of seemingly normal small-town America. As one reviewer says, “Wilson nails the darkness beneath the surface of small-town Midwestern life with an intense story based on fact.”

Tad must wage a silent war against those who would harm the ones he loves. A battle to the death.

Genre: YA paranormal/fantasy romance

Teaser #1 from page 37.

I was a waning magic user. My magic was deadly and my purpose was to be a demon peace-keeper, which sometimes meant I needed to execute rogare demons. I didn’t like killing, but I was capable of doing it.

Teaser #2 from page 85.

We both knew what the next part of the story was. It was the black moment of every story, the part where it all goes to hell.

Book Description:

Since Lucifer claimed victory at Armageddon, demons, angels, and humans have coexisted in uneasy harmony. Those with waning magic are trained to maintain peace and order. But hostilities are never far from erupting…

After years of denying her abilities, Noon Onyx, the first woman in history to wield waning magic, has embraced her power. She’s won the right to compete in the prestigious Laurel Crown Race—an event that will not only earn her the respect of her peers but also, if she wins, the right to control her future.

However, Noon’s task is nearly impossible: retrieve the White Heart of Justice, a mythical sword that disappeared hundreds of years ago. The sword is rumored to be hidden in a dangerous region of Halja that she is unlikely to return from. But Noon’s life isn’t the only thing hanging in the balance. The sword holds an awesome power that, in the wrong hands, could reboot the apocalypse—and Noon is the only one who can prevent Armageddon from starting again…

You may be thinking, why feature this book, it isn’t horror? Oh, but it is. It’s horrific, savage, and sexy. It’s freakin great!

I used to see the word erotic and instantly shy away from a book. Now that I’ve begun to read outside my normal genres I can’t imagine how many great stories I’ve missed.

Enjoy my review of Crimson Sins

 photo goodreadspurple1_zpsab2bdb71.png

MY REVIEW

I’ve read Madeline’s other books so I knew I was going to get a good read. But holy smokes, this book was above and beyond what I expected.

First, I’ll warn you, this is for mature readers only. The author writes a very visual story which includes some gory violence, torture, and sex.

I’m a fan of character driven novels and my favorites were the three brothers, Bastian, the oldest, then the middle one, Nolan and last but not least, the youngest, Rory. They are close knit and always have each others back, which is good as they tend to get themselves in trouble. They all share something too. They all need to feed on human blood, else they begin to rot and become zombie monsters. That’s a new one for me.

Then there’s big bad Daddy, Ronan. He’s your worst dream come true and would win worst father awards hands down. His idea of a good time is rape, torture, and killing, as ugly as he can make it. His sons often suffered at his hands.

When I first met Morgan, I was thinking, ‘what’s a nice girl like you….’ Then I discover she’s a necromancer and doesn’t even realize it. I understood then why she came to this families attention.

Morgan and Bastian fall in love and horror comes calling. It calls in the form of Ronan. Daddy wants Morgan for his own and woe the one that stands between them, even his own son.

As I anguished over the fate of the characters, suffered alongside my favorites and loathed the evil one, I feared the ending. There is no cliffhanger. This is a stand alone book. And what an ending.

I’d recommend you set aside some time before you start reading Crimson Sins. Once you start, it will be very hard to stop. Filled with rich, come to life descriptions from a sewage filled alleyway, to sexual scenes that will leave you breathless and blushing, to scenes of brutality that will make you cringe, this is by far the best book yet by the author. She tells it like it is and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Bravo Madeline.

5 STARS!

~~~~~
Here’s a couple scenes to wet your whistle and they are just from the beginning!
Bastian
Chills ran down his arms and coaxed tendrils of necromancy magic from deep within. The air glittered as the veil between the living and the dead vanished. Ghosts drifted up from the pavement….His control vanished…
Bastian and Morgan
In slow motion her hand lifted. She moved to touch him. Closer still. Air crackled between them. Frozen, he stood there and watched, too caught up in her spell to even breathe. A spark of necromancy magic danced from her finger. Crimson. Just like the streaks in her hair. Just like his father. Necromancer. Death.
~~~~~

Synopsis

Created in Darkness and born of Death, three brothers carry a deadly secret.

One lethal enough to have the dead outnumber the living. Necromancer. Biohazard. Zombie. The abomination inside Bastian Hale demanded constant payment—fresh blood. Without it, he’d rot from the inside out and become little more than a mindless monster. Some called him a living vampire, others considered him contaminated. One woman would call him hers.

Morgan Cross never understood the innate necromancer power running through her veins or why ghosts and zombies sought to ruin her life. When someone’s deadly obsession throws her into Bastian’s arms, their pasts come back to haunt them and she must avoid the one thing she was born to do—claim him as hers.

WARNINGS: violence, gore, mention of rape, torture, images of past abuse, spanking
